I am 67 years young, and my greyhound Madge gets me up at 5.00 am every morning to take her out for her walk, to do her business, as I do not have a garden, even though I live in a very rural spot, with no passing traffic, in West Devon, England. So I go to bed sometimes as early as 8.30 pm as I am so tired by the evening! I too make a stewing steak casserole, that I cook in the oven for a couple of hours, and I make enough so I can put some away in the freezer - it seems to taste even better when it has come out of the freezer and been defrosted, as it has marinated in all the juices I suppose - Beautiful! Blessings from Jilly & Madge. xxx
You were talking about old times , then I saw the flat top mountain behind your plot and for some reason, I thought of "close encounters of the third kind" 😂
What a great view of the mountain ⛰️ from your allotment. It's all starting to come together Sean and looks amazing. You have done a great job so far, and you are right to go steady as it is the only way to win the race with chronic fatigue 😩. Best wishes as always 😀
So many really good things happening. Just love the look of the allotment with all the improvements, especially the turned over ground. Could almost smell your stew from here. Perfect with the chill in the air. Had our first frost here in Williamsburg, VA, USA, yesterday. But, the days are still in the sixties and fifties and our ground does not freeze in the winter. Just putting in a dwarf butterfly bush and cleaning up leaves, saving cardboard for the spring, and planting bulbs. Just love working in my garden. Much good luck with the new building.
When i was at school me and my mates would get on about tv programmes. I remember we use to talk about Space 1999 . We worked out we'd be 37 seemed ancient to us 😅. I'm 62 on the 29th of this month , head thinks I'm 37 aching joints 87 sometimes 😅😅😅
Same age and I remember Space 1999, although I preferred UFO. My classmates all thought handheld phones with video screens were pure sci-fi and would never happen in our lifetime!
Good morning Sean, locks in general do come with longer bars to depend on thickness of doors. You should see little groves on it so you can snap it off to correct length with pliers.. so take a good pair or small hack saw. Good to see you enjoying the homestead coming together 😊
You worked hard today,so glad you made a lambs cowl .Something hot and warming after being out in the cold all day. You looked worn out after carrying out all that heavy lifting. Don't overdo it. Your dinner looked beautiful.
So glad it came on the right day after the disaster with the other company. Such a good idea to have something going in the crock pot so it's ready as soon as you get home. Hope you aren't too exhausted after all that lifting...I love "all this for a cucumber"!
Lordie Sean! When I think back to the first plot you took on in Wales on that slope! I was terrified for you and how long that might have taken to clear. I am SOOO pleased this Homestead came up for you, on the flat and so near home. With the help of your friend I can now start to see the vision you saw all along. Keep up the god work. l
You have been working hard with the greenhouse and the wallflowers. You got a lot done. Your lounge room looks so cost and inviting with the gas fire and that glowing lamp.
Good morning Sean. And the sun 🌞 is shining in Wales and I am very glad for your delivery of your glasshouse . It's going to look amazing and you will be the gardener of the year 😄. Sorry for repeating about the mountain behind you it looks like the film in close encounters of the third kind 🤔 . I don't know if you have heard the news about Timothy West the actor passed away in his sleep yesterday he was an excellent actor And also his wife Priscilla . They changed the program last night and put on the canal journeys which I love . R N P 🙏
How wonderful to have all those Sean's helpingyou bring the greenhouse on the plot ! Great editing. I love watching the homestead progress. Thanks for sharing ☕🏴
Beautiful video Sean. The plot is looking good. Your meal delicious. I love the colors around the windows on the Summer house. Please be careful when you build your greenhouse and pray you have a nice neighbor who can help you with the windows. They looked pretty heavy. I know I suffer with fibromyalgia and push on to get things done because I too live alone. But I also pay a price after with pain and fatigue so please pace yourself Sean. You are doing great at the homestead. The sound of that water and the view of the mountain is lovely and peaceful. Sleep well my friend. ❤❤❤
Very busy day for you there Sean.. Glad you had your delivery.. 10pm is my usual time for bed and that Cowl ? looks lovely . .I laughed at the Benny Hill bit.
Hi Sean, oh wow the Cawl looked yummy - where's mine?!! 😅 Loved the calendar and your pose! I know you've mentioned it before but you should definitely have your own calendar put me down for a copy! 👍🏻 Good to see the latest progress with the Homestead - glad your greenhouse arrived okay - your face at 14:08 had me laughing so much Sean bless you! 😅 I thought the music was the prefect fit too! I usually go to bed usually around 10.30pm. Sometimes, I stay up to 11pm but not later than that I need my sleep too much! Anyway, take care and catch up soon. 🙂
Good evening Sean I'm in bed by nine o clock in the evening as I get up at four o clock in the morning to go to work, but go to bed later on a Friday and Saturday, if I can keep my eyes open! 😴 Glad you thought ahead and made your cawl the night before, what a welcoming smell that must have been when you opened your door😋 I remember talking to my school friends about the year 2000, we were all excited about the prospect that there may be flying cars as Back to the future had just come out in the pictures (1985) No such luck! 😂 Take care Sean 💜
Hiya mate things are really starting to take shape talking of which you've lost whait I reckon well done Sean. Great to see things moving along. See you soon regards Si 😎👌.
Isaac Newton is a clever name for apple tree. Wasn't the world gonna stop in the year 2000 😆? I've got a piece of beef ready for the crockpot tomorrow. Nice for the rainy day we're gonna have. The homestead is looking terrific. I always think of it as the Pen Pych homestead. It has such a beautiful view.
It's all coming along nicely. I have two children, one born in 2017 and one born in 2019. I have thought to myself before its funny to think they may see 2100. People will have a robot helping you with your gardening by then 😂
“All this for a cucumber!” 🥒 😂 You crack me up Sean. The Homestead is coming along nicely. 👏 It’s a beautiful location there. You’ve made me fancy cawl now. The slow cooker is a brilliant piece of kit for the kitchen. It’s my favourite thing to use. I made a lamb curry for seven adults this week. The slow cooker made the job easier for me. Cawl is my absolute favourite meal to make in the slow cooker, and rice pudding for a dessert. Do you like rice pudding? If you make it in the slow cooker, you’ll never buy a tin of rice pudding ever again. 😊
I hear ya ,we used to come in at 4 am back in the day 😬I go to bed 2 am ,if I went to bed early then I would start the day through the night.I’m doing a stew with cornbeef & suet dumplings this week ,both out of my stash so I can put the heating on if it’s cold.Great video Sean 👍🏻
Noswaith dda Sean, Ooh that Cawl looked tasty. I feel a call to the old butchers coming on tomorrow. It won’t be too long now until your own veg will be going in. Have you ever tried Celeriac chips? Oh my, we are addicted, they are soooo nice. Well it’s all coming together perfectly, just like we said it would. Oh people, ye of little faith😂 Sean knows what he’s doing. Slow & steady wins the race. It’s like watching a beautiful painting develop. Talking of paintings, I made a lovely digital art print of you. I just don’t have a printer to print it off & send it too you. Wishing you a lovely weekend Sean. No doubt we’ll join you in the shed for a panad🫖☕️Annie🏴
Morning Sean , looks nice and sunny , noticed your summer house needs water proofing , did they send you roof shingles or some kind of covering with the package .A good rain storm and you would be up the creek lol😅
"All this for a cucumber." 😄I would like to get to bed a bit earlier but it's usually around 1am. Last night was around 11pm, so maybe I can slide into a new schedule.
Hi Sean , thanks for making me laugh this morning. Especially the bit where you walked slowly through the gate. You must put the part where you are bringing in the greenhouse onto the yearly video you will be making please. You worked so very hard and so either before having your meal or after it , you need to have a good relaxing soak in the bath to ease your muscles. I think your friend needs to come for another working holiday when you want to build it as it looks too heavy to build on your own.
I wont question the time you're eating..simply because I eat whenever Im hungry not when the clock dictates anymore, mostly eating 2 meals a day, sometimes 1.., my mental health has improved immensely Im more active but oh I do crave for pudding more times than i care to mention, although its getting less as the weeks go by...I wonder how the hell i'll get thru christmas...I love fruitcake and all the puddings that come with the season..lord help me!!!😁 now on to the rest of the video...cheers!! Oh gawd you're so funny, cracked up as you were carting in the greenhouse and the cheek of it teasing us with your dinner...you're lucky i live down the bottom of the world or i woulda been banging on your door hahahaha....
Hey my fellow Welshman love watching your videos not million miles away but certainly different vista so enjoy your views from your homestead garden may I ask what mountain that's in back slightly flat on top just curious .keep up the good work
The slow cooker is fantastic - I’ve just made my Xmas cake in it and it’s turned out beautiful - a little word of advice - I would have thawed the meat out on a separate plate - just thinking of the blood etc - I would have patted it dry and then placed it in your stew - hope you don’t thinking I’m being picky - only trying to help. Do enjoy .
@@kathylaidler8198 I agree with Kathy, I would not want the blood and water in my stew. You have no idea who touched the meat before you buy it. I'd wash the meat after thawing like you wash vegetables after they come out of the ground and before you eat them unless you want lots of bacteria in your meal.
You don't have to do that with a slow cooker. You can put meat in frozen & start the cooking process as it defrosts & then cooks the meat over the time. It doesn't make any difference & I've done it many times as my mother did before me.

Extra flavour 😊
Don't need to thaw the meat out separately with a slow cooker. Besides all meat has blood in it, where do you think the flavour comes from
All the blood and juices just add to the flavour. Certainly nothing to worry about
