- There's a million reasons to love this Hanna Barbara classic, but #1 on my list are the Dilly Sisters. If you know anything more about them or what became of them, or how I can get more recordings to play on my radio show, please post a comment or send me a note.

Taa ra ra boom dee ay

Tarara boom dee ay
I was 7 in 1975. And I just never forgot this "song" and The Bananas.
Thanks for posting...
I had forgotten all about The Banana Splits.
Great to see that again....now I keep singing Ta Ra Ra Bum Dee Ay
😂😂😂
The Dilly Sisters are actually sisters. And, they did grow up. The older one is a retired police officer. The younger is a tenured professor in the Cal State System.
What are their names?

Bless em' many a good Saturday morning Cartoons, & the Banana Splits Show
People can say what they want to about the Dilly Sisters but if you look at it, this was good, clean entertainment, unlike what gets aired today with hypersexuality and violence. There was an innocence back then that got lost over time, sad to say, and kids were kids. There was none of the craziness we have today and there was no internet or hand held devices. Kids played outside, in playgrounds, and were physically active. The majority of kids today are obese and cringe at doing any type of physical activity.
We also had respect for our parents, neighbors, elderly and life. You hardly see that anymore. Not saying all kids but a good majority of them today.
I just saw this on Boomerang! XD
I vaguely remember seeing something like this when I was 5 or 6. I'm pretty sure I thought I was watching the wrong show at the time.
Now it's a movie

The Dilly Sisters. Preciousness full throttle.
Mom or dad didn't come to America yet , but they were definitely young enough TI enjoy this show . Although , they didn't watch it , I asked my neighbor who had children that watched this show and she would watch it with them so she definitely remembers this :3
I'm only 12 but I enjoyed watching this when I was little when they had reruns on boomerang
You're 24 now! It must seem a lifetime ago since you left your comment here
What a coincidence that you were 12 and your comment is from 12 years ago, and I was 12 when I first saw your comment, now I'm 13

“That’s it I’m calling the judge”-Drooper
7 people are in the Sour Grapes Bunch.
And they are all named Charlie
I always thought it was hilarious how when they would show those girls playing they would often rapidly zoom the camera in and out on them just to make it obnoxious! Lol XD
Loved this show!
Being on the show was a blast. The only not fun part was when we saw the show where we were singing in the trash can. one of the dilly sister, now know as dr toni (PhD not MD)
Alt lyrics: Tara ra boom di-ay
My knickers flew away
They went on holiday
They came back yesterday.
😭 so cute ❤️
My mother used to sing a version of this to me when I was a little child. Always made me laugh, but these days I crack up even more because now I understand the connotation of my mother's version:
Ta-ra-ra boom-de-ey
Have you had yours today
I had mine yesterday
That's why I walk this way
She sang other lyrics to it as well, but these are the ones I remember-- go figger!
I...remember them.
The Dilly Sisters who took detours while travelling between junior talent contests to crash in on the Banana Splits.
TARARABOOMDIAAAA!!!!!!!!😋
Very funny stuff and I remember it well. When I was a very young kid I thought that this show was great. Now that I see it on Boomerang...I would like to know what drugs the writers were on. On a lighter note, the Dilly sisters were cute.
I can't believe this is here. I used to have nightmares about these chicks. Awesome video!!
Oh my god. The dilly sisters are freaken cute
LOVED those Dillys!!
No, The Dilly Sisters are actually Las Hermanas Nuñez, they have recorded several records over the years. They play traditional Mexican Ballads and if you google or ebay them you can find their records. You tube them and you can listen to some of their songs as many of them are posted here! Happy Listening!
Nope., We were modeled after Las Hermanas Nunez. They were grown women but we were little girls.
Listen to this once and just try getting it out of your head. lol
+Red Rubinov eye bin singin it to myself all week
LOL! I know, right?
That’s stuck in my head for 40+ years!
God dammit, Moltar...
huh?
@@sonicboomman9850 lol there's an episode of Space Ghost: Coast 2 Coast where he's in prison with a villain named Cyclo. They fight over what to watch on TV; Space Ghost wants to see the new host of his show, Cyclo wants to see this episode of the Banana Splits lol
i like this i remember the dilly sisters it was good clean fun
Forget the Beatles and Zep.....these two girls are rock goddesses
See also: the Del Rubio Triplets and the Shaggs.
Just saw this episode on Teletoon. Classic
Cool
so cute I loved this... :)
Mr H and Mr B named us after the Dolly sisters from vaudeville, but since we were kind of silly kids in the best way, TA DA-the dilly sisters... oh wait... ta ra ra boom dee ay!
The Dilly Sisters appear in E17 and E26 on the Season 1 DVD. Look for them.
there's more to it though. oh well. if i really want to see it, i can dig up the tape we have somewhere in the house that consists of nothing but six straight hours of the banana splits on boomerang!
Drooper😮😊😳💖Karen Saravia
Damn it Moltar, change the feed!!!
I lose it every time I watch this
The heck is Drooper doing with his hands when he opens the door
this song is awesome!!! rofl
This was a running joke on the Banana Splits. There'd be a knock on the door and sometimes it would be the Dilly Sisters. I can also remember one knock and it was a cartoon witch and there was another one which was a great big cartoon cat holding a mallet who said something like "Hey, looking for a mouse basher?". And of course there was Fleego's bam-o-gram which you saw in the opening credits.
Sour Grape Bunch. was my favorite
The version we used to sing at school:
Tarara boom si ay did you gets yours today? I got mine yesterday tarara boom si ay, tarara boom si ay. He laid me on the couch and all I said was ouch, my mummy was surprised to see my tummy rise...
0:59 OOF
Sweet!!!!
it's a dream people, fantastic song, fantastic life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Using Google, I found out that the Dilly Sisters were actually Donna and Dolores Dillwertz. On the DVD, they appear in episodes 17 and 26.
las famosas hermanitas Dilli
Snorky Harley 😊😇😉👍
they scared me lol
tj
Tra la la boom dee aye!
Fleegle Meets2 😊😇😉👍
I found this link but others have probably already posted it: wiki.answers.com/Q/What_became_of_the_dilly_sisters I'm amazed at their following. I was born in 1970 and was kind of freaked out by them.
Sadly I don't think this can be true. The Banana Splits show was recorded in 1968, by which time Las Hermanas Nunez would have been in their 20s, and not 7 or 8 as these girls apparently are. If you look at early photos of the Nunez sisters (all in black and white, as they were born in the 40s) they don't actually look like the Dilly Sisters. I would love to find out more about the Dilly Sisters, but I can't find anything anywhere.
Ta - ra -ra - boom - de - Ay (4xs)
A sweet Tuxedo girl you see
A queen of swell society
Fond of fun as fond can be
When it's on the strict Q.T.
I'm not too young, I'm not too old
Not too timid, not too bold
Just the kind you'd like to hold
Just the kind for sport I'm told
Chorus:
Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay! (sung eight times)

Back in the late 1960's, US TV networks did outsource a lot of work to Mexican and Canadian people. Remember that to use two US children to do the singing, HB would of had to had two chaperones on set at all times , on set tutoring in lieu of school and pay them according to US pay rates. And that costs money. As the Dilly sisters came from Mexico, HB assumed that were in the US on a working holiday and after their return to Mexico, they would resume their education.
yeah, no. wrong. Sis and I are US citizens. We have Mexican heritage- not the same.
how old are they now? xD
Lots.
because of this... not even once
Those girls look straight out of an M. Night Shamalyn movie.
Bingo😎😊😇😉👍
I believe The Dilly Sisters were bullied at school, went nuts, and ended up in a "home"
I was instantly in love with these little girls when I saw them on the banana splits rerun in 1977. Love at first sight!
Please bring back the splits. M.
The REAL Splits please. Not that horror flick abomination.
😊😇
Where are they now?
they have a myspace page.
Lol😊
Could you have her give us the correct lyrics?
I LOVE THIS SHOW!
Thise Silly Dilly Sisters!i soooo loved when i got to view Banana Splits growing up- the music, the action, the voices... it made me feel like i was in a different world when i watched the show... thanks for posting this little treat.
(i think you can see my love for the Banana Splits has stuck with me... i just realized that the “Candy Kung-Fu” in my show is as silly as the Banana Splits.
Go to min 3:07 of “The Spit Show with Indus & Raquel, Episode 2” to see what I mean!
Classic! LMAO
DILLY DILLY
how did their life unfold
What a dilly sister
Looked it uo on Wikepedia, here is part of the entry:
A sweet tuxedo girl you see
Queen of swell society
Fond of fun as fond can be
When it's on the strict Q.T.
I'm not too young, I'm not too old
Not too timid, not too bold
Just the kind you'd like to hold
Just the kind for sport I'm told
I think it would be cool if the girls did an exclusive for You Tube now that they are all grown up. :o)
Were those little muchachas in the US legally and where are they now?
UT OH JUNGO ITS DANGER ISLAND NEXT
this is so unsettling what is the context please
tillys sisters and dilly sisters are different, these are the dilly sisters, from the Banana splits show.
Las Hermanas Nuñez
OMG, that skit used to annoy me! I felt bad for the lion who couldn't get away from them.
LOL
Didn't Bugs Bunny sing a bit of this in one of his episodes? maybe he just hummed a few bars?
Um yeah but Ta ra ra boom de ay was what Howdy Doody Time was based on anyhow.
Holy F.
Jajajaja
I agree they have a certain charm but they are terribly off key. How did they ever get this gig? Wasn't there anyone with talent available?
SGC2C anyone?
"Truth is stranger than fiction".com
So didn't those girls grow up to start the band L7? That would be cool. Huhhhuhhhuhhhuh.
