- Hanna-Barbera's "Banana Splits Adventure Hour" originally aired Saturday mornings on NBC-TV between 1968 and 1970. After the series' original run ended, the shows were re-edited into half-hours and syndicated to local TV stations. For the syndicated version, repeats of other Hanna-Barbera cartoons were added to fill out the package. For those showings, brief "bumper" segments were created using footage from the second season shows (1969-1970), with voice actor Paul Winchell dubbing Fleegle's voice to introduce the various cartoons. (Apart from the show opening and closing, footage from the second season was otherwise not included in the U.S. syndicated version of the show.) Here we have the "Tra La La Song" intro (this is the longest of the three versions used in the syndicated series), and the Banana Splits introducing Atom Ant, Precious Pupp, the Hillbilly Bears, Secret Squirrel (featuring Fleegle as The Great Fleegali), Squiddly Diddly, Winsome Witch and The Adventures Of Gulliver. The final clip is a commercial lead-in, which doesn't refer to any specific characters but was only used in the Gulliver episodes. (The syndicated series also included Hanna-Barbera's "New Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn," but no Banana Splits intro clips appeared in those episodes.) After Turner Entertainment purchased the Hanna-Barbera library in the early 1990s, the various cartoons formerly included in "omnibus" type syndicated packages were shown by Cartoon Network and Boomerang on their own, so these clips have not been shown since then.

This was one of the finest Hanna-Barbera family shows ever made! when i grew-up in
the 1960s,i first watched this show,when it aired on Sat.mornings on NBC-TV, but when
it was syndicated in Fall 1970,i watched this every week day,and it still never diminshed
by one inch-that's how great it was! in Fall 1972 when ABC launched "THE SATURDAY
SUPERSTAR MOVIE",they brought these guys back,in "The Banana Splits in Hocus
Pocus Park"-and in Fall 1977,CBS and Hanna-Barbera tried with "THE SKATEBIRDS".
And this year it was made into a damn horror movie that'll ruin your childhood.😔

Love these shows....grew up watching 1st run then syndications.....the reason this show just came to my head this week was that my wife and I were watching the 1 Brady Bunch episode when they went to this same Kings Island amusement park,which I think became the prototypes for other parks during the seventies and eighties,(excluding Disney).....and Greg was wearing the costume to one of the character,which reminded me of this show,but for the life of me could recall the name until I you tubed it
Best HB show ever! I saw these on channel 43 back in the 70's- early 80's. The reruns returned on WTBS Night Flicks in 1994 and again on Cartoon Network in 1994, both times the extra cartoons were edited out. I miss the Splits...

The half-hour version is available on DVD in the UK (Region 2) -- also, one of the one-hour shows is on the DVD "Saturday Morning Cartoons -- The 1970s Volume 2" (in the US) -- at some point I bet it comes out thru Warner Archive
Man, it better. I know this comment is 9 years old, but with that live-action horror movie that came out of the Banana Splits, they'd better get the OG series [hopefully the one-hour shows from 1968-1970, with these bumpers as bonus features] out on DVD [or Blu-ray] someday. They don't even have to be restored, I just hope they get put out and don't waste away to nothing.

Too bad they don't make too many shows like this anymore, it's just idiotic no-brainers like Spongebob Squarepants and Henry Danger (ElectraWoman ripoff) that've already taken over the TV airwaves >:(
