How did you get the ignition switch off? I couldn’t remove the bolts from mine

take a nail set and hit the bolts at an angle with a hammer to get it to turn in the counterclockwise direction.

Does this save me a trip to the Volvo dealership to program a key and does it still lock and unlock the doors ? 🙏 thanks

This is only a repair of the ignition switch. Nothing to do with remote or programming the key. In this situation the key won't turn.
