That video (Woodstock) actually got me back to Primus one month ago. What has happend to me during that time? I bought the Desaturating Seven, South Of Reality, (in two days) a bass guitar and my friends are also listening to Primus.
leonhh677 fucking Trey Anastasio is why I wanted to play guitar 🎸 then seeing Claypool is just.... wow. I might have to fucking learn both at the same time. So sick
@@jacobgyo Have you heard of Oysterhead? Trey + Les + Stewart Copeland (The Police) on drums. They were supposed to play a few festivals in 2020 but then covid happened. Their album is called "The Grand Pecking Order" and I suggest listening to it in its entirety. Probably my favourite album of the 00s
They're all weird enough to defy genre. The sheer amount of effects Ler uses makes it a bit more abstract than grunge. I can definitely hear Nirvana influence in his playing though.

Yeah.. A bit of respect for us tweakers thx. Jilly never came back for the holidays (my brother played bass 20 years - Les first influence - then he went off with that smack guy and never came back). Me, I just truck along and I'm the backbone of this damn town.

Can you imagine if metallica chose Les Claypool for bassist. It wouldn't of worked. He needs his own band. They Knew that he was on another level. That's why James said "He's too good"
a reply to myself: I suppose Primus wants us listening more than watching. But don't ever complain about no recognition from the masses. The masses want their visuals, too.

Them: "You can't play both bass and lead"
Les: "Hold my fishing pole"
the chili peppers adopted this from them. credit given no.
One of my favorite Primus tunes. The video of them playing this at Woodstock 94 is nuts.

And Rush too!

@@randysgut3214 I’m sorry but from a technical standpoint, primus kicks the shit out of nirvana. Like not even close

When Les plays, He gets into it and Moves. Such an Inspiration!!
les claypool, primus...don't matter, its all genius and unbelivablely talented people!!
The bass is quieter here. But super fucking cool to hear the guitar go at it.
Primus is music ART 💝
I was at this concert! It was farken epic though I was farked up from soundwave the day before!
I would love to see a Jay Lane cam from that show.
Absolutely! He's my favorite drummer
Ler just shreds the shit outta this. I love Les, but Ler is underrated.
HEYYYY YAAAAH
Primus is what you get when you take a grunge guitarist, heavy metal drummer, and les claypool, whatever he is
9999Rambow
Death Metal Guitarist
Heavy Metal Drummer
Funk Bassist
funk groove drummer
They're all weird enough to defy genre. The sheer amount of effects Ler uses makes it a bit more abstract than grunge. I can definitely hear Nirvana influence in his playing though.
If anything Lers playing sounds more influenced by Ska Punk than anything else.
Keith Graham Ler is definitely math rock
i can't not replay the whammy over and over 6:59
Genius... the dark stage... this is about music! Not being popular! Well done Primus!
I love the wah in the beginning

The Claypool Stomp, greatest walk around
Say what you will about who the best drummer is, but Jay can fuck that shit up. Fits in nicely with the Les Claypool of today.
Amazing they are !
awesome
That's right 👍🤟
So good

Ha amazing!
Ray Charles "What'd I Say" riff at 5:47
Why did the venue have to be so dark? I wanna see Jay Lane's drumming skills.
How the fuck you not respect this band.... Awesome performance.
Ended with the groundhogs day chord
Les doesnt play the bass. He makes love to it.
damn their by God eyes!
I like to burn 1 and jam with this.
I love the salad fingers art on the back 😍
turn off ya fuckin camera and enjoy the dude right in front of you filling your ears with awesomeness

who down voted this? Tool/Primus 1.26.16, I'm beyond ready.
Dude I saw them in San Diego last night best show I've been to
I've done primus twice and tool once... kind of a dream show for me
+sabwcu83 it was just the best there was a guy either drunk off his ass or high as balls in the aisle haha its just fun to watch Maynard
+sabwcu83 You're going to love it I went to Primus / Tool on the 10th and it was amazing. Primus even played Nature Boy 0_o
five days to one year of this show
cool
Ler kinda looks like Kurt Cobain with that stripe shirt, long hair and Fender guitar.
1.Not a fender. 2.his shirt doesn't seemed to be striped
Michael Anonymous Are you kidding, or just fucking stupid?
Kidding seen them live ler loves the strat
KrisFrosz133 I get what you mean, you're right :)
+Rory Sanger (cloppergod127) OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH
Clap your hands !!!, no I clap may bass guitar
Would it hurt to have a little more lighting so we can see Claypool's wizardry? It's so dang dark in at this venue.
I've seen them out at Soco
They're pounding sixteen penny nails
The truckers on the interstate
Have been known to ride the rails
The sweat is beating on the brow
Can't keep these fellas down
'Cause these damned blue-collared tweekers
They're runnin' this here town
Knew a man who hung drywall
He hung it mighty quick
A trip or two to the blue room
Would help him do the trick
His foreman would pat him on the back
Whenever he would come around
'Cause these dammed blue-collar tweekers
They're beloved in this town
The union boys are there
To protect us from all the corporate type
While Curious George's drug patrol
Is out there hunting snipe
They try to tell me different
But you know I ain't no clown
'Cause these damned blue-collar tweekers
They're the backbone of this town
Now the flame that burns twice as bright
Burns only half as long
My eyes are growing weary
As I finalize this song
So sit back and have a cup o' joe
And watch the wheels go round
'Cause those damned blue-collar tweekers
Have always run this town
Somebody needs to get Les Claypool, Tom Morello, and Neil Peart together for a jam session.
Primus is about sound and visuals! Plus this was 3d tour! Primus rules!
Can you imagine if metallica chose Les Claypool for bassist. It wouldn't of worked. He needs his own band. They Knew that he was on another level. That's why James said "He's too good"
Anyone know what kind of effects and/or pedals Claypool is using during the breakdown?
slcmt2 That coming from someone with none...means a lot.
envelope filter
Mainly envelopes, wahs, overdrive shit like that.
At 5:48, what is the song he slides into, I just know I have heard that someplace but can not put a finger on it
Randy Sherman your salad finger
we don't these guys come to NYC??
They are playing at Port Chester this summer which is like less than an hour outside of NYC so you can see them :)
KillswitchOscarMike thanks

@matthew. Last nights show was very dark also. I heard he doesn't like attention really.
Awww.....the energy is gone with this one
why was it so dark? I dig a little ambience but it would be nice to see their faces.
a reply to myself: I suppose Primus wants us listening more than watching. But don't ever complain about no recognition from the masses. The masses want their visuals, too.

Another kind of progressive rock!!!
Larry cosplaying Kurt in Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Even though they've been playing with each other for over 25 years. Hahah
lol salad fingers on their screens
He isn't playing his Rainbow Bass in this one is he?
Derek DeVerney he's playing the pachyderm bass that he designed and had someone build.
Les is way more.
Larry lalone or Alex lifeson
They're both incredibly talented in their own rights, so I have to say both. Also it's LaLonde
what is the name of the song les starts to play at 5:46?
I don't think this is really a song-it just sounds like a blues progression in the middle of his solo.
Wondering that too. Driving me nuts. 60s 70s song. Ugh what is it??!
The bass guitar is a paid actor.
what pedal is that he is using on the guitar?
Harmonizer and wah
Holy shot, they used salad fingers
Fun fact this video appears if you look up blue da ba dee
