It is good that a professional and experienced carver like you shows these techniques, because almost every day I see someone commenting about how you are never supposed to carve toward yourself under any circumstances and they say it as if they are an authority on it. Anyone who craves for a while will see that it is not possible to cut away from yourself all the time and with any precision. Those people are extremely irritating and I really like it when someone explains it to them. But sometimes they are adamant about it and act all angry about it because they grew up that way, thinking they are right. But, they aren’t!
Danke Felix! 😇
I already use these techniques, instinctively because I have been using knives since i was a child and it's the first time I have seen someone talking about these techniques. Thank you for educating Knife lovers !
Great chanel Felix. I've been using Victorinox since 1970's It's my third hand, and I do not see another option. There's nothing you cannot do with a Victorinox. I ove it!

I very much enjoyed this one Mr.Felix! That controlled chest cut on the spoon handle was perfect and can't wait to incorporate that technique while I do some more carving on this packaxe/hatchet I'm building atm! Thank you so much for sharing your time, thoughts and knowledge with us! Stay safe and blessed and will see you Friday! Chow! Cheers, Jerbs 👍🏼🔥🔪🔥👍🏼🤓
I watched your videos, which are very useful and detailed but clear. Because having a Swiss Army Knife, or any other knife or tool for that matter, means little if not nothing at all if I do not learn how to do these sort of skills that may be needed in camping or survival, etc. A tool, no matter how much bells and whistles or what quality it has means absolutely nothing if you don't know when and how to use it.
Great video. Back in my scouting days, if you were caught using your knife cutting towards you, you risked having the knife taken away. At the very least, you could lose a corner of your carry card that said you were trained on how to properly use a knife, axe, and now saw. It was all a safety thing. However, kid or adult, if you are careful, you can make controlled cuts toward you like he was showing. The leaders didn't want to take one of us to the ER and call parents. We did have one kid in my troop get the "Finger Whittling Award" one year at Scout Camp.
Besides the scenery and you, the video was the third really awesome thing to watch, especially for someone like me who rarely uses the small blade! Great tips and instructions.

Excellent video. Tips which are usefull for all knives (Or at least most). Amazing beauty where you live. Nice lesson on cutting with the small blade. I've owned 3 Swiss Army knives but the first one I used in survival training when I served in the Air Force. That was 30 years ago and the knife looks and operates like it's brand new today even though it's been put through its paces.

What’s your overall favorite SAK, Felix? I haven’t owned a full-size SAK in ages, and I just ordered a Huntsman. I knew I wanted the saw and scissors, and I’m going to replace the toothpick with a Firefly fire steel. The Hercules also looked nice, but it was double the price, and I’m not a fan of the contoured scales. Love the videos. Thanks!
