- This is a fun one! Join us on a 5 day winter camping, hot tent adventure to a small lake in the backcountry. We had some challenges getting there but we eventually settled in to the hot tent for some relaxing winter camping. There was plenty of time to fish for brook trout and make delicious meals in our Dutch oven. This is our favourite way to enjoy the Canadian wilderness in the winter.

It looks like a great trip. Winter snow camping is a great way to get away from the crowds. Here in Central Oregon we get deep snow and snowshoes or nordic skis are essential for snow travel
That Dutch oven on the stove, what couldn't be cooked perfectly? The sticky buns pure Keto! Nice trip, really good editing. Beautiful dog.
It worked out better than we anticipated! We don't normally eat Keto, but high fat meals keep us warm outside in the winter. Glad you enjoyed the video, it sure takes some time to put together. Thanks for watching!

Some of the best food I've ever made on trip. We will be bringing the dutch oven more often, worth it's weight for the delicious food it makes.

Ya the travel days were tough but the hanging out eating good food in between was definitely worth it. Had to work up an appetite.

Have you ever used a reflector oven with a wood stove in your hot tent?
I’ve never done it camping (hot tent) but, I’ve done it very successfully with the wood stove in my old house. Just put the pizza, or whatever, in the reflector oven and put the open side up against the side of the wood stove.
Ya, we hate to see her bonk like that but she LOVES being out there. We've since learned that we probably need to add at least 750ml-1 litre of water to her meals, and feed her 3 times instead of 2. She won't drink any water at all during the day in the winter. I guess that's typical of sled dog breeds.
I think we might have tried that reflector oven method once, but I can't recall what it was or how it turned out. We will definitely have to try that next! Thanks for tip and thanks for watching Alan!

How were your feet in the wet conditions? Looked cozy in the tent at least.
They actually weren't too bad, managed to stay warm. Never fully dried out the mukluks, we've been waiting on some over-boots that would have been perfect in that situation...yep hot tent is always cozy! Thanks for checking out the video.

pps. To campers, eating lentils in an enclosed space has some gassy drawbacks.
It's hard to get Lucy to drink enough water winter camping. We have to add water to her kibble to keep her hydrated. Legumes have their side effects but at least the hot tent is breathable and the stove keeps the air circulating. 😊
