I remember hearing about this movie when it came out way back in 2007 and I can't believe I didn't get round to watching until now! I loved the "home movie" style of filming for this, it made it feel so much more real which in turn made it feel scarier, well, for me it did at least! I hope you'll enjoy the video which features quite possibly the biggest jumpscare I've ever had watching a movie 😭

He really wasn't that bad. She was the one with the demons following her around. Moved in with him and said nothing.

Micah is worse than Christian - Christian is just a gormless coward of a man, Micah finds out his girlfriend has a demon following her (at the same time she does, btw, she didn't know before either) and decides to MESS WITH IT ON PURPOSE so his movie is better.

@@fawng8017You know what’s funny, I was actually pretty neutral on Christian most of the movie unlike some people I know. He’s not in love with his girlfriend and was planning to break up, all fine, and it also explains his coldness and distance and awkwardness. It was when he tried to steal his buddy’s research topic that I was like ok, this guy just sucks 😂
Certainly not “deserves to be stuffed into a bear and you know what” level of terrible however 😅

@@Winter-es6icDang. I get it when you’re maybe having friends over or a girl/boy, but what about the rest of the time? When I turned 13-14 was when my parents decided I was old enough to be allowed to start locking my bedroom door for privacy. And even before that we were allowed to close the door, just not lock it

Mine was the 1973 movie classic The exorcist... I seen it for the first time in 1984 ... I was 9 ... loved horror ever since ...
Please do the entire franchise guys, I remember when this came out I was so excited to watch it but petrified the entire time. Its crazy how small a budget they made this movie on compared to how much it made. This as filmed in the directors house and the jumpscares were kept from the cast so the reactions caught were genuine. Just brilliant
My fave is number 5 the marked ones but the most terrifying was deffo the last one next of kin

This movie felt revolutionary when it came out, low budget but so good and very freaky to watch in theatres
After I saw this movie I actually bought a home with the attic space right outside my bedroom and was genuinely freaked out the first little while in my house.
I would have to sleep on the sofa for a few weeks at first just to confirm that there aren't any demons lurking about the attic 😅
I was paranoid the whole night me and my cousin or aunt, after we saw it in theaters. So I understand lol
Same issue at my house. The crawl space is in the bathroom closet. A boyfriend I had years ago took it upon himself to put screws in there to close it. That was pretty sweet. Lol
You should check out Sinister. It’ll renew your fear of attics.
I have to admit, the sole reason I love to watch reactions to this franchise is because I find them so dull, but others freak out. You guys did not fail to make me laugh. I am enjoying this franchise based solely on your reactions. So, well done, both of you! 😆⭐

Micah the runner up of the worst horror husbands (excluding actual killers) IMO 2nd only to Christian from 'You're Next'! Love these films the first 3 are a great trilogy then the 'Marked ones' is also being slept on by most.
Micah actually really annoyed me in this, he's definitely a contender for worst horror movie husband/boyfriend 😅 I've only heard good things about the rest of the franchise so i'm excited to watch them all! Not heard of "You're Next", would you recommend?

I had the pleasure of seeing this on Halloween at midnight in a theater. I don't know why, but it made it 3x scarier lol. There were no trailers for it, it was very much a word by mouth advertisement. My mother (also a horror addict) went with me. later that night we were in the same bed trying to sleep and failing with every light on in the house. It's a miracle we even got in the car to drive home in the dark XD

Almost the whole franchise is so worth watching. 1-3 are a great “trilogy” story and Marked Ones is my favorite out of all of them as a stand alone “spin off” that does still tie in to the main story!!
The shock I got from this movie is still lingering at the back of my head. That's why it's important to close the door. Because if it's closed, nobody's gonna come through the portal.

I remember seeing this for the first time back in 2007, I was a little late but I got the movie and I was always a horror fan, so I stayed up playing this alone in my room at night. What a fucking mistake that was. I was 14, traumatized. This was so revolutionary back then.

Sipping my Tim’s while watching this! I grew up in an old huge brick farmhouse. My bedroom closet had an attic hatch; scared the crap out of me. Every night, I lined up all my stuffed animals against the slatted closet door to keep the monster out. Your close up at the end was hilarious😂!! I’m so happy I found your channel! Dan, with your early theort about why Katie's being haunted, you should check out the movie The Unborn. I'm also trying to get people to react to a few of my favorites, I think you'd enjoy them: "Cube" and "Fallen". Both very unique concepts and a little more thriller than horror, but still very unsettling. See you in the next one!

I saw this when it came out and I was in high school. It was and still remains the only horror/scary movie that actually scared me. My best friend, the person who saw this with me, didnt sleep with her light off in her bedroom for MONTHS lol!

I think the scariest part about Paranormal Activity is how much i remember people talking about Micha being weird for filming everything and that it took them out of the immersion.
Fast forward to today and this type of obsessive filming is pretty much normal.
For how low the budget for this was, it's still such a great film. One of my favorite horror movies of all time.

this was my first scary film i saw at the cinema at 15 haha went with my school friends and i was absolutely terrified walking home afterwards 😅😅
Your commentary is hilarious! But when this movie first came out..the only showing was in Hollywood at midnight in select theaters so it was extremely scary. I was so on edge and filled with dread as the nights progressed. The guy that worked at the theater said a lot of people would leave in the middle of the movie because they were so scared. There was minimal advertising so it was a whole experience. Just like Blair witch was..I went to that as a little kid and it was so scary..I'm still scared when I watch Blair witch.
Oh man, i bet it must have been great to see this in the cinema, at midnight as well! I can understand why people were so scared, the first person perspective feels so much more immersive, it makes it feel real. Which in turn makes it far scarier, in my opinion at least! I need to check out Blair Witch as well!
@JackWillReact you haven't seen Blair witch!?? It's so good if you keep in mind that it's the 1st found footage type and the ads were that the teens were really missing. I was really young and saw with my teen sister and her friends at the movies at night...the silence on the way home is forever ingrained in my mind!
I saw this in theaters opening night, and it was marketed as a true story and one of the first everyone believed it, super religious people were protesting the movie outside the theater! It’s ruined my nights rests for months lol it was epic tho!

You should look up The Blair Witch Project's marketing strategy (the one from 1999). They had missing person leaflets, police reports and website made to look like it was created by the characters, all passed on by word of mouth and on online chats and forums (the "social media" of the time). It was pretty effective.

This movie freaked me out for decades… I stupidly parked my car on the far end of the cinema, had to walk across the dark shopping centre to the empty car park late at night after watching this was not fun
They had footage of the Ouija board moving on its own and catching fire yet they still didn’t call the demonologist. After that I didn’t really care what happened to them.
They had actual footage of a demon being all mischevious and Micah still chose to handle it himself, he had it coming if you ask me 🤷♂️ (i'd have called the demonologist at the first opportunity, what an outrageously cool job)
I was watching your Hereditary video and this one popped up. Recently found your channel, love it! There is a long line of 'sequels' if you're interested. Paranormal Activity 2 is far better than the original, Paranormal Activity 3 is about as good as the original, all with the same family. Sharks were jumped on Parts 4+. Get Dan a chair, for Christ sakes.

Haha, you're right, I really need to sort Dan out with a chair. In my defense though he did say "it's the most comfortable chair i've ever sat on", but this wasn't caught on camera so you'll have to take my word for it...
To add, my hubby and I we sleep with the doors wide open as we have cats and dogs that like to sleep with us but also wonder in and out of the room during the night and its only 2 of us in the house so it makes sense to us 😂

You may want to give _Grave Encounters_ a try as well, if you're looking for handheld camera horror and bad decisionmaking. It makes you root for the baddies ;) But honestly, it's a fresh perspective, despite its shortcomings. And if you're looking for a _good_ handheld camera movie, _Cloverfield_ would do the trick.

I sleep with my door open. Its just me and the dogs here why do I need to close the door? Plus it keeps the air moving through the house else it gets way too hot in here. Great reaction. Was waiting for the good jump scare! The 2nd and 3rd ones are pretty good too. I have seen them but make sure I watch scary movies early in the day so I have the rest of the day to forget about the scary stuff. Dan leaning in was golden. was ready for one of you to jump into the others arms. HAHA. Love it, mates!
