T5 to T6 1 Rear Light Upgrade

In this latest video in our campervan conversion series we show you how to upgrade the rear light clusters on a T5 van from T5 to T6.1 specification using lights supplied by Travelin Lite. This includes how to change the electrical connections to ensure the lights work as they should.

Your movie helped me so i want to share hopefully useful comment.
The new T6.1 rear lights of door version will fit T5 / T5.1 also with tailgate models but will leave a small gap because the bottom corners are round instead of square. Also you will have to cut a piece of plastic in the bottom of both lights. rear light of T6.1 tailgate will not fit old T5 due to different shape of the tailgate. The only chance to have new lights in T5 is to get door version and respect comment above.

Hi I’ve just bought some t6.1 tail lights for tailgate model, and they have 5 pins not 6 on mine

I have just rewired this for a T5.1 with T6 barn door lights and the wiring is incorrect unfortunately. I appreciate the video but this maybe just for the t6.1 lights diagram?

I have fitted the same and the top section of the rear lamp does not illuminate when side lights are on. i contacted the supplier and they said that they do not illuminate. Can you advise if yours do as i am at a loss. Thank you.

@@norton2252mine are the same. I did see a post on Facebook where a chap had modified the circuit to get them to light but I can’t find it again

Are these oem lights, as I thought t6 lights were a different shape around the doors and longer..

Hi. Yes, they are OEM lights like most of this kit is and they are certainly the right shape. They fit into the OEM grill and OEM front wings!

Hi Ian, it sounds like you’re referring to tailgate lights. They are a different shape and size to the barn door lights on the T6 & T6.1.

These don't look like T6 lights- they are round instead of angled.
