An amazing guitar at any price, the Godin Session HT. If you are hunting for a perfect balance of build quality, sound quality, and value look no further. Yes, I am completely and unabashedly bias, but aren't we all?
Here's a link to the guitar. No affiliate links or anything like that. Just use their site to find a local dealer and give this guitar a try. You wont regret it.

I own 3 Fender Custom Shops, 2 Gibson Custom Shops and an ESP Custom Shop. I played this Godin Session HT and thought : " why am I spending so much money on guitars when I can use this "? I tell everyone to check out this guitar before buying more expensive guitars...
I agree with you I picked up a bourbon burst as well pickups were fairly good out of box but did have them changed with a Seymour Duncan screaming demon and 2 DiMarzio true velvet single coils and it is far my favorite guitar. Perfect neck perfect feel and weight it's just outstanding
Went into a guitar store to try (and ? buy?) a Sienna Sunburst American Professional ii strat. Walked out with a Session HT. I found the neck a lot more comfortable and the playability better than the various Strats I tried. I know all the Strat fans out there (and I am one! I own two Strats already) will think this is heresy but it is all about how the guitar feels and sounds in your hands and this one just felt great, and sounds good too. Saved about $1500.00 as well!
Warmest sounding strat I have ever tried. And my favorite guitar in my collection. This thing is comfy as f*ck.
I agree. If I didn't have a Godin Progression I would consider one of these for my personal collection (though I do wish mine had the coil tap).
How is the cheap Indian fretboard? Debating this or the player plus fender cuz of the maple board. Also the Godin has ceramic pickups compared to the alnico ones in fender
@@lilseal7524 I love the fretboard and the ceramic pickups actually. But maybe I change the pickups one day with alnico fives.
@@SarpKaraarslan I say that pure intent! Thanks bro, happy for you. Gonna take all this information into account. 🤘
I dont buy any guitars these days unless they come from a godin factory
Absolutely. Two LG's and an A6 since 1996. This will be next one. Best Regards
Everyone is short stroking Sire guitars nowadays. For another $100, you get made in Canada (North America) quality AND the necks are to die for. All 3 of my Godins have the same buttery neck. Not too thin or fat..just right. Perfectly rounded fretboards. Mmmmm..
Got one in black. Awesome guitar.
I've got one I bought used and it s my favourite electric I own. I've never played a guitar I love more. I even got a custom wrap on the pickguard.
Nice video dude. I just bought a Stadium 59, very nice guitar. Honestly, I don’t think American standards fenders are better.
I love Godin, I have this Session in Red, I have a Session Custom w/neck hum & bridge single coil w/active boost switch, also have a Godin Core HH. I'm getting rid of my Fenders etc. There's no need to have em around. Plus Canadian made. BTW: I too am from Alberta. Thanks for the review.
I've the same guitar with the tremolo. Paid under $ 600 new. Stays in tune better then any other guitar I have (Ontario, humidity !). Plays great. A lil heavy on the body for my taste but with this design is to be exspexcted. Great guitar for the money. If this is the design you're looking for and a brand is not of importance, buy with confidence. Bought a Godin bass and am quite happy with it as well.
I am shopping based on scale length. These are on the list
I love Godin. Great company. Nice ax. Godin also makes great stock pups, which I can't say for most companies, so if I got this ax I'd leave it totally stock.
WOW c guitar its dear to me and I have a gibson and a fender and my go get me a Godin ace all the beautiful things I heard THANKS
I just bought one (Arktik Blu) and love it. I keep going back and forth as to swapping out the stock ceramic pick-ups with alnico's, but so far the they sound great.
buy this guitar this is really good and made in canada
I have a 2016 Godin Session SG RN with the Black Burst finish and OMFG, what an axe it is! I have ZERO interest in buying another guitar that isn't one of my two grails. It's THAT good!
It's actually my second Godin because I also have a Solidac. However, the Session is more my style because it's much lighter with a much more slender neck. The Solidac is a beast but it's a big single-cut LP-style body made of solid Silver Maple and has a chunky mahogany neck. Don't get me wrong, I love my Solidac but I ADORE my Session!
I've got one of these. Got a great deal I couldn't pass up from my local Guitar Shoppe. One of the most comfortable guitars ever. 🤘🏿🎸🇨🇦🤘🏿
Love this.
I really wish I had bought the one I played a year back. It was the same on as this. It was brand new for $700. I ended up buying a Reverend Charger HB, but I think the Session will be next!
I have one of these and love it, but I'm wondering if I would love it just a little bit more if I upgraded the pickups. Has anyone done so? If so what did you upgrade them to?
I bought one of these a couple years ago and they weren’t as much as I see some of them going for now but it’s a really good guitar and a good workhorse guitar
Cool. My wife is from Alberta.
Great guitar- only caveat is the two single coils are ceramic, hence, 🎉 no Fender sparkle and chime. But that's a quick, affordable mod.
Very good sir...😍🤗
Did you ever do a video of your Godin Progression Boutique? I'm interested to hear how it compares to this guitar. I believe the bodies are made from different woods but have the same pickup configuration although the actual pickups may differ in specs. This guitar looks great but I don't particularly care for how the pickguard looks. Not that it's awful but I prefer a different shape or just go without one. Especially with that great-looking Canadian wood.
If the gods of eBay are on my side I will be ripping it up on one of these beauties before the Easter bunny arrives … amazing spec and build quality honed over many years now
Good job,
Peronnaly the only neg Side is the neck profile. They do not offer a lot of choice. Mean nothing else 😉. I like a big fat neck.
Great video. Can’t find these anywhere to try. Is the back of the neck a natural satin or sticky gloss ? Also how is Tuning stability ?
Great video
Thank you!
Do you know ? How is the stock Godin humbucker in this compared to the Seymour Duncan that comes in the Pro version.
Don’t any non Canadians do videos of Godin guitars?? I would love to see one. Just one!
Godin's to me seem like they are made for the working musician. Always top notch quality, not a ton of superfluous cosmetic features, and great pricing.
If I replace the stock pickups on my Godin session HSS for Dimarzio pickups, would I have to use the F-space ones instead of the regular Dimarzio? The configuration I’m looking at is Super distortion, true velvet and true velvet. Anyone?
hey Dan,
Love the video and the guitar. I have been looking for a new guitar and this might be it. I live in Calgary and you mentioned you are in Alberta. What shop do you work at? Or where should i look to buy this? Thanks
Thanks Jonathan. Glad you enjoyed the video. My shop is MaxSPL Music just over in Strathmore. It should be easy enough to find, but message me if you need the contact info.
@@MaxSplVideos ill come and check it out
@@jonathanawolfe That'd be awesome! Store hours are a bit wonky at the moment so I would recommend double checking before you make the drive. If you can't make it in the listed hours get in touch with me and we can work out a time between my students.
did you play the guitar or did i miss it???
Would you say most of what this is true of the Godin Stadium HT? I'm so close to pulling the trigger on a matte black.
I haven't tried one myself, but I own about four Godin guitars and they all play amazing. I hope to get a Stadium in eventually, either for the store or my personal collection.
@Wes Shipman I agree
Have one, in matte black. It is beautiful. My advice is to just buy it...you won't be sorry. Got it through Sweetwater. Great people there.
What's the weight... can't find it anywhere...
Not sure off hand. With the basswood body it's pretty light. I would say it is lighter than my progression or the strat I just sold off.
A tremolo system is lacking for me.
At 4:32 he explains that there are step up models that have the trem system in them
Shame they raised the price like 400 bux.
I asked my friend that has a godin and he says my American Standard Tele... is better....
I mean, the American Standards from Fender are amazing guitars. I had an American Standard Strat for a couple years and it played and sounded great.
@@MaxSplVideos I still want a Stadium just for $hits and giggles..... it has that bling affect...
I have an SG summit p90 - Godin's take on an LP Junior. Sold my Junior after trying out the Godin, bought the Godin and kept a $1000 in my pocket. I guess you could say I did it " for the money" LOL!!! I'm in Ontario and happy to buy Canadian when the stuff is this good!
Not buying a guitar thats sold at Best Buy.
Does your Best Buy stock Godin guitars? I know Cosmo Music is selling them as a "Marketplace Seller", but in store I have mostly seen Squier/Fender (at least at the ones near me).
You can buy it somewhere else too. Best buy also sells Gibson and Fender.
I have Fender Strats, Gibson Les Paul's and SG's, a beautiful D'angelico hollowbody worth like 2k, Martin's etc. This guitar, has been my favourite since I bought it and has been played by far the most. I went into the shop for a strat, played this, it was better by far than the used Mexican strats I tried that were 100 dollars more, and came with it's own top quality gig bag. Theres a few things worth upgrading on this guitar, such as the bridge humbucker, but the build quality is excellent, stays in tune as well as any other guitar I own, needs less work on setups than many of them as far as adjusting bridge and action, etc. I love that guitar man, in fact I currently have a lutheir making me a custom neck for another strat build based off the profile of this one. I often think people are bullshitting when they claim the cheaper gear is just as good as the more expensive stuff, as it's usually not. But this guitar, at least the one I own in particular, is absolutely an exception to that. Theres is no better value you can find in an instrument as far as price goes
