Wenn die Gitarre wie ein Schlagzeug groovt.
Mit Mark Lettieri beendet musig im pflegidach seine 19. Saison. Trotz Covid konnte man 26 Konzerte durchführen. Mark Lettieri kennt man vor allem als Grammy Gewinner mit Snarky Puppy. Er beherrscht eine Vielzahl von Stilen, nimmt auf und tritt in praktisch jedem Genre der populären Musik mit unabhängigen und Majorlabel-Künstlern auf. Mark Lettieri komponiert und produziert seine eigene Instrumentalmusik, welche musig im pflegidach Kurator Stephan Diethelm immer wieder auf seinen Joggingrunden inspiriert.
Lettieri wurde in der San Francisco Bay Area geboren und kam über die Texas Christian University (TCU) nach Texas, wo er Werbung und Public Relations studierte und in der Leichtathletik antrat. Als leidenschaftlicher Gitarrist seit der Mittelschule begann er seine Musikkarriere in der Gegend von Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex nach seinem Abschluss an der TCU.
Das Spielen in der pulsierenden Metroplex Gospel- und R&B-Szene führte Lettieri 2008 dazu, sich der Jazz/World-Gruppe Snarky Puppy anzuschließen, wo er als Gitarrist sowie als Arrangeur und Komponist mitwirkt. Seine Arbeit mit der Gruppe hat zu drei GRAMMY Awards und ständigen Tourneen geführt, da er auf allen Kontinenten ausser der Antarktis aufgetreten ist.
Ausserhalb von Snarky Puppy hat Lettieri fünf Alben als Leader veröffentlicht: Knows (2011), Futurefun (2013), Spark und Echo (2016, #2 bei iTunes Jazz und #11 bei Billboard Jazz) Deep: The Baritone Sessions in (2019 .). , Nr. 21 bei Billboard Jazz) und zuletzt Things of That Nature (2019, Nr. 1 bei iTunes Jazz).
Im Jahr 2018 schloss sich Lettieri der Vulpeck-Spin-off-Gruppe The Fearless Flyers an, mit Cory Wong und Joe Dart von Vulfpeck an der Gitarre bzw. am Bass sowie dem Schlagzeuger Nate Smith. Das Quartett hat zwei EPs veröffentlicht, The Fearless Flyers im Jahr 2018 und The Fearless Flyers II im Jahr 2019.
Lettieri hat mit der Neo-Soul-Ikone Erykah Badu, dem Gospelsänger Anthony Evans und dem Gewinner von American Idol: Season 11 Phillips Phillips Meilen zurückgelegt. Er ist auch mit einer Vielzahl anderer Künstler aufgetreten, darunter Nelly, Anthony Evans, Chrisette Michele, Myron Butler, N’dambi, Bilal und sogar die Komiker Dave Chappelle und Harry Shearer.
Zu den jüngsten Aufnahmen zählen David Crosby, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Adam Levine, Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Tori Kelly, Ledisi, Tamela Mann, Eric Roberson, Lecrae, Lupe Fiasco, Keyshia Cole, Xzibit sowie zahlreiche Radios und TV-Jingles. Lettieri ist auch Mitglied von SKP, einem Produktionskollektiv unter der Leitung des mit dem GRAMMY Award ausgezeichneten Produzenten Symbolyc One.

Amazing...there is a lot of music in silent gaps, intervals of tension and those guys understand that playing loud and fast does not mean music at all, however they know how to play fast and loud when there is need for that musically. Love it every note they play 🙂
