- The WDR BIG BAND performs the concert program "The Rhythm Side Of Things" together with Mark Lettieri on guitar, Billy Test on B3 and Rhodes, Wes Stephenson on electric bass, Daniel Porter on keyboards and Jason "JT" Thomas on drums. Lettieri has found the perfect algorithm for funk: He fuses the influences of rhythm and rock guitar icons from the 70s and 80s. Now, for the first time, the guitar virtuoso meets the WDR Big Band under the direction of bandleader Jörg Achim Keller. The arrangements are by Mike Abene. Recorded live in Cologne's Stadtgarten (January 2024).

Like the drummer do ya? He's in Snarky Puppy band also, as mentioned already, and you should check out the video for the song "RL's". There are two other drummers with JT tearing sh!t up along with some guitars and even a Clavinet with a whammy bar!

Tut mir leid, aber dem kann ich mich dieses Mal wirklich kein bisschen anschließen. Der Mix klingt deutlich schlechter als zum Beispiel das aktuelle Mark Lettieri Live-Album (und das war vom Mix schon weit hinter den Originalalben). Um nur ein paar Probleme zu nennen: Die Hi-Hat ist unangenehm, der Snare fehlt attack, die Leadtrompete klingt verwaschen, der Bass ist sehr untransparent...

Ich habe es mir abgewöhnt, Sounds bei YT zu beurteilen.
Und ich höre solche Konzerte im Kontext, also ohne direkt die einzelnen Instrumente zu sezieren, über recht gute Monitore.
Das mache ich nur, wenn ich sowas hier selbst mixe.

a fantastic concert. I know all the pieces from the CDs. Together with the excellent arrangements and the sound of the WDR Band and its great soloists, this is a real listening pleasure, especially as the picture and sound are also world class, as only professionals are at work at WDR. Mark Lettieri is a great, versatile, imaginative guitarist with feel and groove and his band is also absolutely first class. The interplay and interaction is fantastic. It's a shame that you can't see something like this live in Hamburg... I enjoyed every second of it and will definitely treat myself to it a second time.

I wrote to Mark telling him so and I need a hip surgery for a bone replacement and despite the pain I suffer on a regular basis until surgery is done, I couldn't help myself because your amazing playing. I don't know the names because you are many but every single musician is phenomenal so please consider this as a message of admiration and love for the whole group. From the conductor to everyone involved. I knew Mark but not your band. Well, now I´m subscribed and watching everything you do guys.
