      Me too,not for 20 years but when your alone this is a great easy way to load and unload your boat,to me this is a lot easier and faster than driving it on.

    • @grahamdavis774
      @grahamdavis774 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thumbs down is because some retard is going to to unhook his boat from the trailer, back down a steeper ramp and his boat is going to fall on the concrete. The boat needs to be secured to the trailer until the trailer is in launch position.

      Like I posted, I too had "first boat launch fears" and tried several times the POWER METHOD ... it was a waste of time and frustration till I remembered this rope method. It is the quickest method and it only needs ONE PERSON TO LAUNCH OR MOUNT one person using the power method takes longer because you still have to go in and out of the boat that is not needed using a rope. I just also noticed another time saver... The boat was tied to the trailer before he ever the water and just let it flat back into the ramp. This is also a time saver too!

  • @beverleygregory

    thanks Im just another nervous boat owner about to do the nervous launch, Ive done a couple and have had problems getting the boat straight on the trailer , Ive just made a couple of guides for the back so it might help, I also agree that you dont need to gun it up on the trailer if you get the depth right I do the same thing with the rope as you so I at least have some things right just need more confidence

    very good Capt. The key to taking out is knowing how far your trailer should go in the water. To far and the boat will not center easy not far enough and you struggle to winch up. I like that he does not power load.

    Some docks in TX and other parts of the country have courtesy ramps off to the side that you tie to as you retrieve your trailer and back it in. No other choice but to drive the boat up onto the trailer (since boat isn’t tied to the retrieval dock) but as the man said, he drives his up on the trailer as well. Good video.

    • @TopwaterTony
      @TopwaterTony  ปีที่แล้ว

    When loading, that's a good idea to have a long rope and have the boat back away from the trailer. Makes it easier to guide the boat on to the trailer. As a new boater, using a 15 foot rope, the boat was too close to the trailer so it was harder to guide the boat on to the trailer. I'll buy a 25' rope for my next loading. Gave you a thumbs up.

    This man has fished by himself hundreds, if not thousands of times. Don't be intimidated by
    watching guys like this load their boat on a calm day without issue. This is a skill that is developed over many seasons of weekend boating. Which by the way, is exactly what most boat owners do.
    You want to learn how
    to load a boat faster, find a huge empty parking lot and practice backing up your trailer, this is what will take ALOT of time off launching AND retrieving your vessel.

    • @TopwaterTony
      @TopwaterTony  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very true.... Also practice makes perfect. If a person is out there every weekend or twice a week or whatever they will learn what to do and what not to do very quickly :-)

    Good job,but not everyone has a fully decked out boat with that fancy shallow watter anchor.if solo just get to the dock, rope the front, and pull the rear of the boat tords dock ,rope it asap , go get trailer , 75% of trailer in watter ,go to boat undo the rear rope,then front,use front rop to pull the boat into trailer, time to do all this does depend on current and air so may vary on how fast you need to move . But if you don't have powered anchors just rope it asap so it doesn't flat away (rear of boat)

    Simple ... learned this watching a guy recover his 15 foot boat from the intercostal river with a strong current. I struggled recovering the power method then realized the “pull the rope” method was hands down the easiest and first try “perfect” seating to the trailer. I too was so frustrated with the power method that I pissed off my wife too and wasted 15 to 20 minutes due to the current preventing me from aligning the boar over the rollers. Launch and recovery with the ROPE METHOD is the way to go and it is only a ONE PERSON action so boating alone is easy for everyone ... 5 STARS VIDEO!

    Did you choose to disconnect the winch before the approach due to the ramp not being too steep? Your other video recommended to leave it attached until you reached the water. Soo many newbies out there with their boats sliding off the trailer before reaching the water.

      Yes..... I disconnected the strap and then tied on my rope when I was at that stop sign on the side

    Should have parked on the other side of the dock, where you wouldn't have been blocking the ramp. I know, it looks like no one was around, but, still, it sets a very bad example. There are already way too many folks who think it's perfectly acceptable to block the ramp for however long it takes them to get their shit together.
    Other than that, GREAT job of launching and retrieving solo!

    one thing that he did, that if it's a boat ramp where others are waiting on you to leave is ; pull your loaded boat away from ramp after you load it . then in parking area pull your drain plugs and fasting down your boat tail hooks to trailer. never hold others up at boat launches to do these things.

    • @TopwaterTony
      @TopwaterTony  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thats exactly right !!! but i had it ALL to myself so there was no worries :)

    This is exactly how it should be done. I would add one thing that wasnt necessary at this ramp. If its busy, after launching, move your boat to the other side of the ramp so other ppl can launch or trailer while you are parking your truck and trailer.

    • @TopwaterTony
      @TopwaterTony  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i always park it out of the way if someone is waiting... this day the lanes were empty... thanks for watching !!!
