Lot of my gear would interchange with yours. Very similar pony. Knife is on back of pressure gauge. I have a new invention about every trip out it seems. Working on a combo pole spear / lobster snare. I have tried about 2 dozen PH combos.
Very cool, I just started building spearguns for myself. Anyways those cressi's are slow without the shark shield. I swapped my cressi for some stiff fiberglass blades from spearmaster they weren't expensive and I've drilled holes in them.
Can't wait until you get some triggers! I already know what I want for my order! I still like the shark shield on my ankle, I get shocked on occasion, but I don't feel like it's slowing me down at all.
Only time it really bothers me is if I need to chase down a shot fish or when I’m fighting current. Any other time I work slow anyway. If I were to freedive I would definitely change it around as well.

Great idea sliding the top mech forward definitely going to use that. Also solved my problem of wanting one to have a line for fish under structure. I live in SC and dive nitrox. I really want to get into the 200’ range. Just need more knowledge in the specifics of doing the deeper dives

You can order teak online. I got mine from a place in Pennsylvania but just do a quick search and see what fits your needs. Mine come and blocks rough cut greater than 2 in.² and I ripped them down to size that I need. Sometimes I get more than one blank Out of a chunk of wood that they send.
Since the weather continues to be a challenge, would be nice to hear your opinion on why you prefer your over/under compared to a traditional gun. The quick second shot has to be a key advantage. I prefer to carry 3 spears and back load, but your take on it from someone who likely used to do that and shoots both commercially and recreationally would be interesting.
My buddy mike said it best if your going to have extra shafts might as well have them loaded. Really that extra shot if maybe the first missed or wasn’t a grate holding shot is everything. I used to load after shooting a fish if it looked like a good holding shot so I was ready for something else to show or for some reason the fish ripped off when you grabbed the shaft you now have it all ready to go.
It’s really cool when powerheading AJs because if the AJ’s aren’t showing like you’d hope on a spot you can still shoot snapper and grouper and keep the powerhead on the second shaft. Same with hunting deep for blacks and cubera. Sometimes it’s better to powerhead and sometimes it’s better to shaft them.
It took me a little bit to get used to loading in a track versus a closed muscle. I would take the track gun on fun trips and then switch back to my old one for Commercial. After a while I got faster at loading the closed track and after that it was all good.
At the moment I am waiting on the double trigger from Neptonics. They have been out of stock for a while and keep telling me that they are in production but it’s hard to say when they’re going to get them back in. Hopefully soon.

Spear gods in Tampa. They have several different colors. That paired with an ocean rhino front shaft holder is the best combo I have found to hold shafts.
The bottom shaft protruding beyond the top shaft would affect my aim. I would need to shoot the bottom first. Did it take sometime to acclimate to seeing the bottom shaft?
Aloha for the life of me I cannot imagine how these shafts shoot.... Possibly I'm "special" but yeah hahaha - in Hawaii we dive with the traditional gun w/ a reel and line but I really wanted to try a gun like this out - just not sure how we could address the issue of a reel w/ line for both shafts...??? Ideas...?? Appreciate any & all feedback

I only make a couple here and there and they sell pretty fast. I usually post them to Facebook. I don’t do contract orders. That way I can build them whenever I want and how I want.
I don’t really build them for people. Usually just make them and list them for sale. I have a 53 inch overall with a 48 inch shaft for sale right now for 1300.

I think we’re about done with wetsuits in the gulf. Will still need it for lobster season on the east coast but definitely glad to get out of it.

Just takes some practice and keep pushing. The deco bottle gives you some comfort having an extra setup just in case

I have two questions what diameter shaft do you use what is the thickness and the width of your teak blanks
5/16 shafts and around inch and a half by inch and three-quarter.

I had no issues with it. The unused band was the worst part but that wasn’t even bad for me. I do not change how I aim for ether shot.

Not really set up for Freediving but you can use a float line for one and belt reel for the other

I’ve seen them. I was going to make some similar but for 357. It will be a smaller profile so hopefully lighter and not as much drag.
