- Learn the difference between "bring" and "take" with this English grammar lesson.
We use "bring" and "take" to describe carrying and/or transporting an object or person from one place (the source) to another place (the destination)
If the speaker is at the destination, and the movement of the object is towards him, then we use "bring". For example "Please bring me the bill."
We can also use "bring" if the listener and speaker will both be at the destination in the future. This is because the speaker is focusing on the listener and the destination. Example "I will bring the photographs to the restaurant tomorrow."
We use "take" if the destination is in a different place to the speaker and the listener will not be present at the destination. Example: "I will take these boxes to the lorry."
Other examples are also discussed in the video and there are some exercises at the end of this English grammar lesson to test your understanding.
The accent is a British English accent.

Amazing lesson Andrew! Finally I've undestood the difference! Thank you
I was born and live in the United States. The way you teach this concept, without ever learning it in school, is how I use bring and take. However, I always hear people in movies, and other instances use bring where I am used to take being used. It drives me crazy when I hear them used differently, and I have always wondered why this is so ingrained in me when seemingly everyone but, my family, friends, and me use bring the opposite way. Watch an American movie some time. For example, a mother in the kitchen speaking to her son getting ready to leave on a date may say, " hey son, be sure to bring your coat with you. It's going to be cold tonight." I always expect the son to ask the mother if she is going on the dater with him, or if she's going to the date destination before he gets there. It should be "take your coat with you." I would love to know why I learned it this way, and so many others didn't. It's so common to me, when used differently, it really gets my attention.
I think It's just the best lesson that I've ever seen on TH-cam about this, thank you so much.
Your lesson is very helpful to me. Thank you very much,by the way your voice is very warm and clear
