  • Hello everybody. This army started to be built some 30 years ago and it suffered the usual time lapses for other projects. Even so in the two/three recent months I´ve added maybe half of what you can see in this video. Most of the miniatures are Esci, Italeri and Hat Industries. Also some Airfix AWI Grenadiers and a few cavalry were recruited for this army (probably mercenaries) but everything is plastic. In the future all different types of cavalry, infantry and artillery will be expanded until they reach the necessary numbers to play Wagram with AOE rules, that is 1 stand worth of 360 men and half of that for cavalry.

That is a very impressive collection of Austrians! I plan on doing an Austrian army based around Wagram, well, one Austrian Corps.
Such an impressive and inspiring army!

Thanks. Esci in particular was a bit lazy in placing the proper equipment on the figures so plenty of back packs and bayonets were added.

This is a gorgeous army, with plenty of smart conversions which is quite inspirational. Well done and hope to see them perform well on the battlefield against your French army one day. I'm a long-time reader of your blog and a big fan of you from China, and I'd really like to say thank you for sharing.

Thanks Chen. I manage to do plenty of stuff exactly because I dont wargame as I have no one to wargame with. So it will be a pleasure to welcome you if you ever come to Portugal and gaming with you.

@@joaopeixoto5249 Thank you very much for your kind invitation, Joao. I think that is envisageable. :P I'm not a frenzy gamer neither, but watching 2 armies confronting each other on the tabletop makes you feel like being in the midst of history. Here in China we only organize 1 or 2 games per year among cloes friends as we are always in short of free time to paint and to build models. That's why your grand projects of different historical periods (and the speed and effectiveness you've achieved!) are a big encouragement to me.

Another great army, all 20mm plastic, at first glance I thought they were 25/28mm metal or plastic, (that is a great testement to the visual appeal of the scale). I have tried a number of times to complete Austrians in various scales (including airfix awi grenadiers repainted) but never finished them...
The force that catches my imagination is the Grande Armee Ancillary Corps of 1812...
For the 1809 campaign; back in 1985 the was a series of 9 booklets by ANSCLUSS Publishing "Great Battles of history Refought" covering the whole campaign, maybe worth looking out for....

Thanks. That is great, ill try to find them. My idea regarding wargaming is always to try to make both sides of the biggest battle of the campaign so I can play whatever smaller action.

@@joaopeixoto5249 check out the Battle of Raab, you have Line Infantry, Landwehr infantry, and, "Hungarian Insurrecto" which come in both infantry and cavalry varieties.
Further more you may want to look at the 'other' 1815 campaign Austro-Hungarian v Neapolitains, in northern Italy....

All that white gives me painting nightmares.

:) true, and same with yellow. I paint black first, then light grey/mixed with some sand, and then the white. It looks the part and then the flags hide most of the damage :)

Hi. I´m fortunate enough to have a basement only for myself. You can see it and the way I store the minis in this video th-cam.com/video/JPa9PNLbN08/w-d-xo.html
