I currently work here I am so glad that I went to the interviews which I went to only 2 I got the job is awesome $21hr insensitive base pay I just got my first check $5 grand just bought me a new car
It’s the fact that all these people that are calling it a scam haven’t even done the job if I was you I would try it out for a few weeks and see if you like it cause it’s really not a scam
I tried it out for about three weeks, and I’m not saying what everyone else is saying is true, but everyone’s point of view is different. Like for me it wasn’t a scam it’s just they were asking for a lot of what I didn’t have. Like contacts I barley gave them enough for the first time and I was struggling getting recommendations. Then they wanted me to get more contacts that I didn’t have. I was working from home but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t stressed. I think the last week I kind of gave up because my life just went downhill and since it was a job that was based on commissions and not hourly, it was my decision to take a break or not. So I needed to clear my mind and shit. So I did that but that same week they called me giving me feedback on some calls. Which I didn’t mind, it’s just for improvement but I was so depressed at that point the feedback kind of made me feel worse, so then like later in the week I quit saying it just wasn’t for me. Cuz it sucks I made appointments with people and some couldn’t make it and didn’t want to reschedule and some didn’t even pick up. I got paid for the commissions I did but was what I made worth it? Like I had a three day training on zoom, it was terrible, we didn’t get paid for the training so I sat there for four-five hours each day listening to them talk about what all the products were. I think by the third day they rushed all the paperwork and how it all works toward the end. I didn’t like that cuz I barley got to read anything and I couldn’t go back because I needed to pay attention to the next part. I think by like the first week I got the hang of everything, I figured out myself how to try to sell some of the items. But I quit because it wasn’t for me. I tired it out at least. I remember getting a text message and my friend goes “sounds like a scam” and I didn’t answer for three days in case it was, but I needed a job so I chose it and it’s not a scam it’s just meant for certain people. People who want to work in marketing and want to gain experience in that type of job.
@@InfiniteTony when I found out about the job, I looked at all different types of reviews and I looked at a bunch of videos. So try looking at the reviews and see what people are saying.
I went through the same process in another state, guaranteed 18.50 an hour to work for this company. I go to the interview, get the job, and was scheduled for training the next day. The thing is my manager kept saying he could only hire some and this was competitive, but I know now that everyone was hired. There is training almost every day of the week, and most everyone who was with you in your interview was scheduled for a different day for training so that suspicion does not arise. The company takes advantage of the 17-20 year olds narrow minds in order to push you into a pyramid scheme that you don't realize. I didn't even realize it until the end of the first training and I still convinced myself this job was great for me. The reviews on most sites are skewed in favor of the company
Such as this one. The manager even STRONGLY INFLUENCED all of these kids to go on the company app and load in all of their friends to get more recruits for the company. I honestly really like the manager. He is outgoing, funny, smart, but ultimately a con artist. I am not even 20 yet and this was my first experience with these type of people, and man they are good at talking you into things. Even the people who come in with great sales seem brainwashed, but they are making good money. I am a very moral person who will only sell items that I know I would use myself, and honestly after receiving the knives today, they don't seem that great. They are remarkably thin and although the type of steel 440A is said to be the highest. 440C has a higher Rockwell, more scratch and stain resistant, and holds an edge better. People live and swear by their cutco, but only because they have a self-serving bias toward their bad decision that they want to cover up. I am not calling anyone who works for the company or who buys the knives dumb, but they were certainly tricked. As a rep we aim to close a deal at all costs, get 10-15 recommendations per sale, and utilize the fact that we are students and need money in order to sell. These three alone raise a red flag for me, and I only went through this last training (which was 7 hours no breaks) to get the kit and see for myself the quality of the product, and I have to say it is okay, but nowhere near the quality of my Global, Zwilling, or even Benchmade knives. You know why no other knife company uses mirror finish type steel, because it is inferior, softer, scratches, and cheap.
The training is Extremely detailed and teaches you exactly how to sell the stuff. You do friends and family demos for like a week, and after that, you get into real people and start making real money. So easy. Perfect student job.
makeupbychelsey Thank you as well for it. I have looked at thousands of videos on this already. It seemed like a legal scam. I am supposed to have a interview as well, but now screw that. I thought it was fishy having college stdents do marketing on some high price knives. If you do this IT IS RISKY!!!! It not a guarantee like the say it is
OMG!!! I just feel terrible but think I did the right thing. A Female can’t even call her a friend who I tried to help but ended up stealing from me was a bad situation. I’m a disabled adult and live alone I was known in the community as the person who would never turn their back on anybody in need of a meal, a shower, a place to stay for 2-3 days while you figure things out, I did have rules however and if I believed you broke a rule you were out rules were pretty simple ABSOLUTELY NO DRUG USE OR ACTIVITY WHATSOEVER ON MY PROPERTY YOU MUST ACTIVELY BE SEEKING ASSISTANCE WITH YOUR PROBLEMS AND I HAD ACCESS TO MANY RESOURCES AND COULD HELP. If you wanted dinner be at the table by 6PM Breakfast 8:00AM LUNCH 1:00 PM VARIOUS SNACK ITEMS TO SHARE WOULD BE LEFT ON THE COUNTER FOR BETWEEN MEAL SNACKS(I began doing this after my brothers death from heroin overdose didn’t want to see another young persons life end that way). This female was one of those people, well long and short I had heard she was court ordered to treatment to get her son back and over a year ago she successfully completed got her son back a place of her own etc well I received an text from someone named Emily telling me this Female “Barb” works with her and had a lot of nice things to say about me and that they had job openings at their office and to text her back to set up interview. I text back declining and explained I’m not looking for work at this time due to medical reasons but that I knew the PERFECT PERSON FOR HER WHO IS SEEKING EMPLOYMENT, provided her my friends name and number to text. I saw my friend “Carolyn” about 30 minutes later she was coming over to help me with a project and I told her about it, she was really excited. About 8:30PM I was deleting texts and I saw something which I didn’t notice before and that was vmc.com what appeared to be a video clip which I SWEAR WAS NOT VISIBLE TO ME BEFORE! I attempted to view the video which the description stated was about vmc who had PT EMPLOYMENT AVAILABLE FLEXIBLE AROUND SCHOOL FAMILY OTHER JOB ETC. I was unable to open the video clip so I came to google and entered vmc and found several links which referred me here to TH-cam. I viewed several read many comments and at 9:15PM I called my friend Carolyn and apologized told her what I found out and that I was forwarding this video to her and she needs to watch it! I told her I noticed in the text that if I wished no further texts from “ EMILY” to reply STOP so I advised Carolyn to do that and continued apologizing until she said shut up I know you were just looking out for me knowing I need a job but something told you something wasn’t right and you looked into it for me and warned me before I fell for their tactics. I love you and will see you tomorrow she said. So in the end when I realized that these people are ruthless and Carolyn is so vulnerable right now and she would be gullible enough to fall for what they were selling her which is exactly what they are doing to everyone who meets with them they ARE SELLING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU TO MAKE MONEY, however it costs you money when you think about it. Those of us which this company is wanting to set you up to target are people my age, we are all on to Cutco, Kirby Vauum, ELectrlux Vacuum and various other companies representing high ticket items with numerous tactics to get you to say yes and sign the contract. Because to me time is money, time spent on phone attempting to get an appointment, preparing yourself for the appointment, gas and wear and tear on your vehicle to get to and from a more than likely no sale appointment, if you have children paying someone to watch them to give you time to make calls and go to appointments so your children are being cared for and watched over it’s a crazy world with bad people out there. Sorry so long but felt I needed to tell this story.
They don’t display an hour. They display appt. honestly depends how much time you wanna put in to it. They give you 20 bucks per appt and getting appointments and references is not hard unless you don’t know much people. Now the appt pay does suck but the appt. only take like 45 minutes to complete and when your are making %25 percent commission it’s a pretty decent part time job. You also have to have good people skills. Honestly just put effort and time and they’ll pay you decent. I’m only planning to work for about 4-5 months to get work experience. (This is not a full time job remember that.) there times are also so flexible I didn’t work for like a whole week and still got a 200 dollar paycheck from about 1 full day of schedules. People who say this is a scam didn’t give it a shot 😂 or just don’t want to put time into it they prefer working a reg job. I’m not judging though all I’m tryna say is that this company is not a scam they give you what they say and if you misinterpret something well... then you get videos like this 😂
Yess dude fr. Not only that but I've had other legitimate jobs where I got 2 interviews in a day and got hired on the spot. I also would think they'd hire a lot of people just to see who will stick around and do good and who will just drop out. It seems to me like they just wanna give everyone a shot and weed out the ones with no work ethic.
There is a difference between the way CutCo sells their excellent knives, and the high quality knives they produce. Don't be a Vector rep, but if you like using high quality kitchen knives, definitely buy CutCo knives. We have had six CutCos for almost thirty years and we just bought another five yesterday here in PA.
I'm so glad you shared this. I went there maybe two years ago and I've experienced the same thing. They have a script for everything, and they run a pyramid business. They hired everyone that went to the interview , not to sound judgmental but there was an individual dresses like he was going to the beach . I did love the demonstration and their product, but nobody I knew would pay that much money for a set of knives.
I had the EXACT same experience as you last summer except I went to the 1st day of training and got a phone call that I was "referred by a friend" instead of getting a letter in the mail. And when I say exact, I mean all the way down to when you got to the interview and there was like only one chair left to sit on in the room full of people! I'm so upset I wasted my time even attempting to give it a shot after the red flags. The training was just even worse. Sitting there for hours, hearing the same things from the presentation at the "interview," practicing the sales pitch, on top of not being fed or paid. Plus they make you give them even more numbers of people who can be called or used as "referrals" (about 200) in your training booklet for a "contest." I was fed up from the get-go, I didn't even bother writing any names to give them more customers and I didn't go back to training. They're just so misleading and shady about the whole process. It's not necessarily a scam, but it's definitely for everyone and does not seem worth it if you're not interested in the marketing business as a future profession.
well thank you so much for commenting, its a shame you had to go through the same thing but I'm glad someone else understands what it's like and that it really is a waste of time. I also agree that it isn't a scam but it's definitely not a company you want to work for. I hope you found better employment elsewhere and again thank you for taking the time to comment and help whoever else is on the fence about going to the interview (:
I went and it was a no go you have to buy the product then try to sell it yourself so weather or not you sold it, they got your money your just trying to make it back
out my way. its a deposit- ilike the knives enough to keep them whenever I decide Im done, but you can get your money back if you want. so its basically renting a (granted more expensive ) uniform
@@zombiewarrior88 no worries, I understood what you meant lol. I've seen a few scams. One was supposed to be a live video, but its not, and almost all the other people in the room were just pre recorded videos too.
I really don’t mind the company because it’s work, so what showing things to my parents I see it as practice what’s funny is that we own a restaurant so does the rest of the family from other parts, they buy or don’t buy simple as that. When my cousin and I discussed about this we came to the same conclusion, it’s just work you take it or you don’t, they are very open ended from real research and not based on opinion. Getting my training soon, so let’s see what going on.
Thank you so very much for your comment. Our son received correspondence from this company and I immediately checked the BBB and my mouth fell open with the number of complaints they have received. I would hope more parents are checking into companies that I "contacting" their children with these "great job opportunities". Again thank you for sharing your experience.
I worked for vector the summer after I graduated high school and i actually did pretty well. If you're good at sales and can schedule appointments you'll make a good amount of money. Most people claiming that cutco is a scam are the people that couldn't make any sales so it felt like a waste of time. Again it's all up to you for how well you do with cutco. The sky is the limit in sales, but you can make nothing at all if you don't work
This is crazy. I just had this same experience yesterday. Everything you said in this video is what I felt and saw for myself. Thank you. Very informative
Andre Kountz I got an interview tomorrow. but I did a lot of research about this company and I no longer interesting in going to that "interview". should I just no show up or cancelled the interview?
I spent six hours today for one of training for Vector.Marketing and wanted to do my research about the company. So very happy for your input, it is a very short term way to make money if you have a negative attitude going into any sales job. Some people are just not suited to be in the world of sales. Pro and Cons of doing what the manager sent home as my homework tonight are as follows: make a list of 150 people I personally know that money is expendable within their lifestyle, they are required to be over 30 years of age, homeowners, and more importantly a source of income-employment to go into debt when I pitch pricey packages at the demo's end. As a person that is exactly what Vector asks of their target sales persons to reach out and get into my home so I will be put on the spot to invest my hard earned money. I am just a bit tired of having to buy more fundraising for my overflowing cabinets and closets to contain, keep adding to my monthly debt level on my credit cards or giving access to my banking account so places that in reality a hefty portion of this price is marked up to then offer it as a 5-month, interest-free investment option...... I do not think I want to ask anyone to pay an over inflated price for what I also found being sold by individuals on eBay at 1/3 of my offering in their kitchen.
All I can say is that I've made a ton of money with this company. First year with them my income increased by a multiple of 8. The product is American made and they stand by it. It's great for experience and I highly recommend it.
BAD SEED! BAD SEED! Yeah seems sketchy at the beginning, but she forgot to tell us that the "interviewer" is the manager. 80% of these Managers got there in 3-5 years since their first years. The company pays $5,000 towards rent/bills to help their Managers (There are 200+ established offices nationwide). From Freshman to Graduation, you can literally already own your own business! Sales is not for everyone, only the determined workers make it
Also my dad is a headhunter meaning he places people in big time companies such as DHL or FedEx or Medical device sales. He told me every person that had Vector on their resume got the job because of the experience you gain from this company. It's basically a well paid internship let allows you to work on your own hours. Obviously your manager wants you to make CutCo your life so that the office performs well. You can very easily say no with confidence and work your own schedule and they will not give a shit... this video has no relevance because she didnt even go through the company and try to sell..
Someone from my town (did not meet her personally) claimed that she owns a business and asked me if I was interested. I looked at the application and I realized I was applying for Vector Marketing. I informed her of a potential scam about this business, and she got really angry at me telling me that if I believe it, she could not work with me because she did not like my mindset. I immediately knew that this was really shady. She could not even tell me the name of her business near my college, telling me that she has college class and could not answer me. I sent her a long text telling her of her attitude towards me and she just blocked me.
Oh my goodness. I just got a call from someone from Vector. Luckily I said I'll think about it, and that I will call the lady back on my own time. I did some research and found your video. Thank you for confirming this scheme! Crazy that you experienced this 6 years ago and they are still doing this in 2021
I'm so glad I came across this video. I currently work for Cutco and I feel absolutely miserable there. The managers are like vultures. They never leave you alone, are constantly in your ear, and expect your entire life to revolve around Cutco as they pretty much try to force you into going into all these meetings and conferences (including the SC2/SC3) they have. I haven't even received a paycheck yet! The only reason I'm still there is because I couldn't find work anywhere else and am hoping to get a small amount of cash at best before dropping out
makeupbychelsey I recently just got accepted for a new job somewhere else in September, so I'm glad to say I won't be there too much longer! I just wish I came across this video before I accepted the job offer. Everything you said was pretty much spot-on about the interview process as well as the person you talked to on the phone. If only I knew beforehand, I would've never accepted the offer or answered the phone
Jericho8131 the job is not for everyone. some people just suck at sales and you just cant cut it, not everyone has the luck I do, im not trying to cut you down but its facts. not everyone can be a really good salesperson like me.
miller andrews if people are going to bitch about a job other people excel in what are they supposed to do? just say "yep it sucks and because I'm good at it I suck too"
I just applied like a week ago and got a call the dame day too. I live seven hours away from where I'm moving to and will be working so I had to schedule my interview a week or two out and I'm glad I did! I thought it was super weird they called me the same day and had scheduled my appointment for 7 at night so I will not be going. I REALLY appreciate your video and explaining your experience because it helped me make up my mind about goint to this interview.
It's really an old fashioned method. But I suppose in today's world, getting a letter in the mail feels more special and alluring than something sent straight to your spam inbox.
I swear not even kidding every detail you spoke about happened to me today that's why I started researching just did not feel right. So happy I did my research
Let me clear things up: Everyone currently in charge of the company started as a sales rep selling knives, they all started from the bottom, if they can do it, so can I, that's my mindset, been working there for a month and I'm $8,711 in sales, which isn't great but it ain't bad either but the best thing of it all is that I am now on track to open my own Vector office in April/May, getting ready to make 6 figures in a few months ;) this company is not like any other company out there, they pay you what you're worth, you get paid based on your efforts, not by hour like every other crappy job out there does, leaving aside the fact that part time jobs make you trade your most valuable thing about you: your time, for money; they put a cap on how much money you can make because there are only a certain amount of hours you can work, so your paycheck has that cap; on the other hand, Vector allows you to get paid as much as you want, if you want to make a comma paycheck, you can do it, is it guaranteed? No, BUT the opportunity is there. Hopefully this clears the air
Thank you so much Chelsey for the video. I'm a recent high school graduate and looking for job, and I had my interview scheduled for tomorrow. I was kind of excited for this, since it's first time applying for a job. But looking at your video now definitely has changed my mind! I would rather not waste my time for something like this. Thank you again!
It's funny. I got a call from Vector Marketing last month to set up an interview. I figured "Got nothing better to do", so I went in. They asked me what I wanted out of a job and I simply told them that I wanted a job that didn't require me to do a lot. I didn't get the job, which is probably a first, and I take pride in that. I got another call today from CutCo wanting to set up an interview. CutCo is a great product, I just don't see many people willing to spend $1150 on a set of kitchen knives...unless you're a chef or someone who likes to brag about how expensive their stuff is.
This was my first job. You make 28 bux whether you sell shit or not. I used to make up Married Couples names and got tons of money for the first six months. Its not a scam tho. Although i just got an email saying the District i worked for is suing them because we never got paid for the training. Waiting to get my settlement :) I live in California so Labor laws are strict.
I agree with you about the interview process. I remember attending one in Savannah GA. I went because I was invited by 2 friends who were also invited and had added my name to a list of contacts for the company. I was curious to see what they sold because I had never heard of "Vector Marketing". There were about 20 other applicants there, we were shown the product line and were pitched. We were told to sell knives to "a list of friends and family" (in my opinion..such a silly idea). The hiring manager began bringing in 3 people at a time into a private interview session after completing a 1-2+ hour info session. Myself and 2 friends were the 2nd group to sit with her. She told us that according to the information we shared with them that we are the 2nd group she really liked and would like to hire us today. Then asked us Why we wanted to be apart of the team and how would we make the team better. Afterwards, she pulled out 3 forms where we would sign a contract, agreeing to pay for the starter kit and attend trainings. I was the only one out of the 3 to decline right on the spot, and she started asking me direct/weird questions on why i didn't want to work with them. I remained professional by telling her it just wasn't for me, (honestly guys, I can't sell products that i'm not passionate about.) But she insisted on asking questions like..."Well why did you come here and waste X amount of hours to turn down this opportunity"...she said something like that. It got uncomfortable really quick Lol, maybe because the interview wasn't private (2 other applicants in the room sitting and looking at me like.."Dude, i think you just pissed her off.") I left and never looked back. My 2 friends signed the forms, but never stuck with the Vector Marketing opportunity. Whenever I meet ppl on Facebook who have experience with Vector, I got mixed reviews about the company, but for the most part, many people left because the Company methods of Training were useless. If you can't sale, don't partner with Vector Marketing. If you can sale, give it a shot. Nice video review Life of Chelsey very honest.
Khiry Graham Thank you very much for your comment. It means a lot that someone else understands where I'm coming from when I made this video. Everyone thinks I'm on here to bash this company or stop them from working for them. Although I'm not gonna lie, I'm not the biggest fan of Vector marketing because I feel they have some shady business practices, I'm just here to warn people about what's ahead. I completely agree with your statement that if you think you can sell knives and have people you know willing to buy then do it! I've been getting a lot of negativity on this video lately so thank you for leaving a respectable comment, it really means a lot!
How can you judge the company if you haven't even started? I've had the job for a month, no problems whatsoever, base pay is per appointment, commission is based off sales.
Thank you so much for this video. I'm home from college and trying to find a summer job, and I got a call from them today, asking me to come in for an interview right away. I immediately felt suspicious and did some research on Vector Marketing. I can't believe what I'm hearing/reading! Literally, everything that you said has been true for me. I don't think I will be going in for the interview; I'm not even going to waste my time.
CUTCO knives are very good. Worth the money is relative. If everything we buy is made in China, we all will be without a job. You are right to be made with VECTOR. They need to change their practices. But honestly I think they are recruiting everyone to find that one with the gift of gab and charisma. That’s who sold me my knives, lol. I was set to buy before he spoke cause my coworker sold me on his set. Best of luck in college. My advice, don’t get a college degree that does not guarantee a high paying salary. There are too many graduates with 200k loans of debt working 36K a year jobs!
the whole experience made me feel so embarrassed because i thought i got a good job and had to go tell my girlfriend that it ended up being a scam. i hate them so much
@@keziahcadena2001 lol i quit too kinda fishy but i wasted 7 hours for a damn training but at least i learned their tactics and i could use it for real estate
Really, you guys had a bad experience? I mean as far as my experience, I’ve gotten pretty much everything I was entitled to. I don’t see it as a scam at all, considering they send my base pay and my commission statements. It’s a sales rep job, I can see why people may do poorly, but can someone please clear up the part where it’s a scam? And idk if this is Florida thing only...
My experience has been very different from this. You get payed base pay or commission which ever is higher. The interview possess does happen quickly, and maybe they do take a lot of people. However, a lot of people aren't comfortable with sales or aren't committed and leave. This model of sales doesn't work for everyone but that doesn't mean its a scam. If something isn't what you expect you can choose to adapt or leave, but why tarnish the reputation of a company just because of that? Not once did I feel manipulated. I too thought it paid by the hour at first. But, when it became clear that it was per appointment or commission I had to decide if I was okay with that. Some people are some aren't and there is nothing wrong with that.
I just bought a set. Was so used to my dull knives that I wasn't being careful and sliced off the very tip of my finger on the first use. Was really happy to see how nice and easy it cut me. As far as service.... I've heard the horror stories, but have yet to need to use it. As for complaints about them as an employer, it's a low end sales job....... what did you expect? I fell for the same shit with Prime America back in the day.
thank u so much for this I just got the text today saying they could schedule an interview asap & I was literally gonna go. Thank you for not letting me waste my time
I remember I was in Vector. They would come to my college campus and recruit people. They would advertise making $15 an hour. You have to sell those expensive knives to your friends and family. I made about $600 before I quit.
Hey ik this is like really late I hope you see this but I have training for this company tomorrow should I just not show up I see a lot of negative comments on this company I'm thinking about not working for them and taking on another job.
I didn't even know the company was sketchy until I looked up the location and thought it could be a human trafficking trick because the building says its closes on weekends and I have my appointment tomorrow at 2:05. My boyfriend and I did research for safety reasons because I had a bad feeling about it and turns out.. It's not a human trafficking trick but instead a shitty company trying to lure me in to work there. Either way, I am glad we did some investigating and will be cancelling my appointment... This video is completely on point. I saw a flyer in my school telling me it pays $18 hourly and no experience was needed.
I feel stupid for even getting through the interview. I felt like the shit. I'm going to call tomorrow and cancel the training. Well at least i got over my anxiety for interviews.
Kevin R. Serrano Mistake. It’s easy as hell. You can either make several thousand dollars in a summer selling knives that are super easy to sell or don’t make several thousand dollars.
You have to call people constantly, call your boss every morning, pay for team nights (most of the time).... AND they do not even take taxes out of the paychecks! I worked there for a couple weeks. I was hoping that it would work out because I actually really liked the product, but I mostly liked the people. I went to a few big meetings, and soon realized how much they had brainwashed me. Glad I left.
Chelsey, THANK YOU for posting this video! I have a friend who has an appointment TOMORROW! I *am* looking around the web finding out the commentary about this company, and the red flags are PLENTIFUL!
I called it quits with them just today. I literally didn’t know what I got myself into cause I needed a job. Thank god I freed myself from this and felt it was a HUGE waste of time going through the whole process. Ima be honest I’d rather work at fast food than doing something I’m not so hot at. 😤
I had my first day of training from Vector and I am unsure of what to think because i am unemployed right now and the group of people that were in the class actually went to a conference and we actually heard from a rep out doing a demo.
well it is completely possible to be successful at it .. just be careful about the contract they make you sign and the security deposit and make sure it's something you're willing to do
Life of Chelsey there is no security deposit and the contract is just a regular employment contract. are you for real right now? you don't know anything about this job. I have two cousins doing it and they make a shit load of money, I bought some stuff myself
cdoesher Considering this video is a year old, you used to have to sign a contract and pay a deposit that you would get back as long as your demo equipment wasn't damaged, they've since changed that. So before you write a rude comment, you should do some research.
Life of Chelsey they stopped doing it in 2011, so nice try, you would have found that out if you even bothered. and my cousins signed contracts, I saw them, there is nothing wrong with them. you are just over exaggerating. you are talking like you are certain you are right but so far you haven't been. how about you do some research first. remember I have two cousins that actually put in effort on the job so they and I know a little more then you do
cdoesher I just don't understand what I did to you, at my interview (which you weren't at) I was told I was going to have to sign a contract and possibly pay a deposit by the assistant manager. If you feel so strongly about this company make a video on how amazing it is. I could care less. Its been a year and I am happy with my decision to not be apart of this company. If you read the comments above you will see multiple people talking about how they had similar experiences so I would say I do know what I'm talking about. I made this video to warn people about vector marketing and their business practices. If you think its a great company to work for then do it. I could honestly care less but only me and you are really going to see the comments so the best way to get your word out there would be to make a video but you should start by being a little bit nicer first. I have multiple conversations with people who have seen "successful" with vector marketing and because they were respectful I left their comments up so other people can see the other side of the conversation. But with you, I doubt anyone will care because you sound like a child not getting their way. Learn some respect and people might listen to you.
I just got a job here 2 days ago, I thought i was going into an interview for me and ended up in a big group. The guy that came out to talk to us was the head manager and he looked maybe 20 years old. My husband and both kids went with me and waited in the car for me because an interview should not take very long and i had no idea where i was going and my husband new where it was. I got called back and invited to stay for the 2nt part of the interview i told him about my husband and kids were waiting so he told me it would only take 30 min....it took 2 1/2 hours. The guy talked really fast and sounded like he was a recording. It was very weird from the get go because the same night i filled out my app online i got a call back at 7:30 that night had an interview at 9am the next morning. The building was ran down and they were in a little office space. The guy talked about how there planing a company 3 day trip to mexico with everything payed for. He also told us how fast ppl move up in the company and the head girl that is in the office got there in 2 weeks..... ? ppl wait year to get promoted to something like that. Im worried and dont know if i should go to the 3 day training.... plus you got to take your own taxes out and keep track of it your self i really dont like that part. feed back on this would be nice, Anyone have anything good to say about this company? they gave me a letter that came from Michigan University to back them on how good the company is.... but im not sure anymore...
It’s a quality product. You don’t have to take the job if you don’t want it. It’s part time and you make commissions on your sales. You get paid regardless of whether you sell anything as long as you do demos. It’s easy as hell. You can’t get fired, basically. It’s for students, because it’s clearly a part time temp gig and adults who already have jobs don’t need to sell knives. Students have been making bank every summer doing this for 50+ years. Better business bureau rates it A+. They tell you exactly what you are in for right away up front. Yeah, it has some outdated recruitment tactics, but the sales training is good, the product is easy to sell, and you get out of it what you put into it. I did it for a summer. I made bank for 2 months. It’s not a scam, people. Just know what you’re getting into. It’s direct sales. Just like Avon. Just like Mary Kay. Same exact shit. I don’t know if you actually tried it or not, but I bet you a bunch of people in your training group made a few grand that summer. Missed opportunity to me. Did you make a few grand that summer? Probably not.
Omg, Chelsey thank you soooo much. I've only had a telephone interview the day after I filled out their app and the girl said the exact same things your saying verbatim! Now that I've seen this it is too good to be true, and JANKY! I MEAN AN INTERVIEW AT 7 AT NIGHT! GET YO LIFE! TY again
I just went through the same exact thing. Im in san diego California and they offer a $15 base pay and they moved really fast i got a call and an interview the same day. I went in at 3:20 and didnt get out of there until 6:30 but i went to one day of training and they give you a script and tell you that you dont even have to look at the customer at first, they actually advise we dont make eye contact and just read from the script. I did not go to the second day and when i called to decline the job they asked me if i had any questions that would make me change my mind and stuff. They are not a good company.
Today i made 150 from sitting in bed and talking to people, if you actually put in the work you get rewarded for it. She clearly put in next to no effort.
i ended up going to the interview knowing it was bullshit and scammed them out of $500 worth of knives lmfao. They arent the only ones that know how to scam hahahahah
the manager gave that person the paper and said they would "call back" but that means they didn't want the person to have the job. the reason you stayed was because you were obviously a good fit for the job..I work there, and I absolutely love it. I think it really depends on the manager though tbh
I sold these knives for a couple months 10 years ago. Made decent money for the amount of time I put in (appointments). It's a sales job and commission based so take that into consideration when trying for the job. With that said, I still have the knives I demo-ed and absolutely think they are the best and would recommend anyone wishing to get the knives for cheap to "take the job" and leave if you don't think it's for you 😂
I am a Sales person, I've done 5 years of Door to to Door Sales. And what I gotta say is.........I'm surprised Vector is still in buissness! I mean you gotta make appointments with strangers over the phone, drive to their house, and do an hour presentation in their house! You know how hard that is? I will be blunt, Door to Door Sales is easier!
I did door to door and vector, it is always harder putting in the work for success but being poor is hard too, pick your hard. Door to door is not easier btw, I literally just had to sit and call people I knew, still making hundreds of dollars.
@Jay R yikes...run from the pyramid scheme. None of this "pyramid schemes are illegal, this is mlm" look how many are getting busted. Another one bites the dust
@Jay R and there you go. Even told you I wouldn't care if you have that speech. Yes, research done when someone tried to recruit me. No you don't pay to have a job and you get paid for time with a JOB and no you don't have to have a team under you to make more money or any money at all. It's sad you're in that trap and you'll find out sooner than later. MLM is a pyramid scheme with unattainable products or shitty products. And guess what? Yes scams last years some have lasted a very long time. Research done. Now you do research. Peer research. None of that shit provided by a cult like "business" bc that means SHIT
The point of the company is to help high school and college students gain work experience. Pretty much all jobs today won't hire you if you don't get experience.
Thanks for this video! I got a call a couple hours ago from a lady at Vector Marketing and I got the EXACT spill you just mentioned. She pretended to be interested in my schooling, asking me what I wanted to do afterwards, etc. She even pretended that someone JUST cancelled and asked me to interview in like four hours. My guess is that they don't want you researching their scam.
Hello Chelsea, I got my first job with Vector Marketing back in 2002. The pay was attractive $15.50 per hour plus commission. The commission was not combined with the wages. It was whichever one was higher. I asked the guy who was doing the training, "What happens if we do not make a sale?" I remember the guy's response verbatim, "That is not possible, as long as you try, you will make a sale, I can promise you that." To me, that does not seem logical. I was probably assuming, if we do not make a sale, we do not get paid at all. The guy obviously deflected away from the question. In the end, I spent 3 days of training 8 hours each day unpaid, and I said to myself, I was not going to give this a try. This job does not seem legit.
Thank you for sharing your exp, i got a call from them this morning and told me to interview in the afternoon. Fortunately i saw your video before going.
Thanks you for this. I start training in 2 days and my brother also use to work with this company. He didn't like it either. But I knew something was wrong with this company at the interview. I'll give them a call and tell them I change my mind about working with them. Honestly I rather be a paper boy than a sales representative.
I freaking knew it!!!! Thank you sooo much posting this. I won't go to the interview next week. Screw them. Iol. You're awesome. Ur enunciation is very good. Great video
Thanks for this video. Confirmed some of my own suspicions. One of the things they told me when I spoke to them on the phone the first time was that I would only be dealing with people who had already expressed an interest in the knives. So I was thinking it was going to be with people who had contacted the company and wanted a representative to show them the knives. Then I show up for the first interview and find out that I have to find the people and set up all the appointments. Once you factor in all the time taken to set up appointments and travel to them, especially if you don't know people in the immediate area, you aren't even making minimum wage (at least in the area I live). I do believe it's a job that if you are willing and able to start slow you can make a good profit but the time just doesn't seem worth it to me. Plus working for a company that deceives you right off the bat doesn't seem good either.
Oh, and although the company itself is horrible, the knives ARE really great quality though. You don't really need the set with all the different knife types though, a lot are kind of pointless that you'll use once and never touch again. Just get like one or two typical kitchen knives that you'll use every other day along with the ice cream scoop, scissors, and maybe pizza slicer. I actually don't know if you can pick individually what you would want but if you can those are what I would recommend, don't waste your money on a expensive entire set, it's a waste.
+aranyik knives I own hundreds of knives, bought 2 of the high-end forged German knives you reference this weekend (also happen to own 3 eneps), and I could not disagree with you more. In fact, I'd say your are coming dangerously close to offering an uninformed opinion.
+Neal Quackenbush I guess as a final disclosure ... Although I have spent more (way more) on German knives than Cutco knives, I do own nearly every knife and gadget Cutco has ever made -- even the straight-handled stuff they made before they introduced the contoured handle in 1952. I have toured the factory in Olean, NY. I own and use their cookware nearly every day. I have taken advantage of their great customer service and their sharpening/polishing service a dozen times. In my opinion, no kitchen is complete without a few Cutco knives and gadgets.
Well a big Thank You to you! I'm glad I came across this video I just got off the phone with them to set up an interview but I felt a little iffy about it. So I watched your video and you told me all there is to know about this company. Thanks for tbe heads up!
Do they do anything with your personal information? I had to list my driver license number and address and I believe my SS number. And we had to sign a contract.
good video, good for you for just making it and not even caring about getting dressed up / makeup. Im 36 now but was sucked into a group cutco interview when I was about 18, I got a bad feeling and didnt go back even though He told me " You are sharp and the kind I want on my team" blah blah blah.
I thought that she would reply, but no you get paid based on appointments. So that means going door-to-door in scheduling an appointment with somebody hoping that they would do it.
Everything she says is EXACTLY what happened to me today at my interview. I got the job, we'll see what happens lol. But yeah the whole setup is hella shady
Susanna Obadiah after all this TH-cam bullshit my mom never even let me go to orientation lol!! When I quit my hiring manager tried every excuse in the book to get me to stay and he said all these ppl on TH-cam are liars who didn't know how to sell lol. Id definitely stay away from it
If you feel like this now.. trust me it’s not worth it. Even if you follow that fucking script, sometimes it’s not gonna sell, and you have a manager on your ass about it.
@@bighitstannnnnn1203 man i've only been here for a month and i've done a lot of demos and worked really hard and it's paid off. i've made a lot of money so i don't see how anything has gone wrong so far
I LOVE Vector Marketing lol I make so much more money than my other peers. Ive learned a lot about business. Ive grown as a person mentally and my skills as well. For those with an employee mindset where they plan to work 9-5 then its not you. If youre willing to put in so much work without guarantee of a sale but possibly getting paid 4x 5x more than your peers when you do, its for you. Business mindset trumps employee mindset any day.
I owe you one, I applied just now, I regarding it now, looking at the comments on from where I live said the same thing, when they call I'll say I'm not interested. Thank you so much for this useful information. Thank you.
This is so true I was working there for alittle. The boss is a dick and kept trying to ask inappropriate info about my kids husband and such. They are very hard to sell and the pay sucks. My experience was very stressful and to be perfectly honest not worth the time. The guy then proceeded to tell me that my home town is the perfect place to sell when my hometown was and is very poor. Bad experience and alot of stress not worth the time
Thank you so much
I currently work here I am so glad that I went to the interviews which I went to only 2 I got the job is awesome $21hr insensitive base pay I just got my first check $5 grand just bought me a new car
@@rosarodriguez352 I got an interview in 2 hours.. idk what to think of this video though..
@@InfiniteTony when I found out about the job, I looked at all different types of reviews and I looked at a bunch of videos. So try looking at the reviews and see what people are saying.
@@rosarodriguez352 Thanks!
Thank you so much for this video. I just got an interview over the phone for tomorrow, and this made it so much more clear. Nevermind working there.
haha well I'm glad I was able to help you make that decision(: thanks for commenting !
makeupbychelsey Thank you as well for it. I have looked at thousands of videos on this already. It seemed like a legal scam. I am supposed to have a interview as well, but now screw that. I thought it was fishy having college stdents do marketing on some high price knives.
If you do this IT IS RISKY!!!!
It not a guarantee like the say it is
Brevincampbell12 thanks for more of a clarifying yeah I am not doing day two of training.
Is it actually really good? I got an interview in 2 hours.. idk what to think of this video though..
Man this unlocked something in my brain that I haven’t thought about in years such a bizarre experience
60-90 minutes? I was in a Zoom meeting with 11 people I don’t know for 7 HOURS and 30 minutes
Yesterday
I got an interview in 2 hours.. idk what to think of this video though..
InfiniteTony goodluck 💪🏾 but I opt out of the whole situation the day i posted that comment. Everything they were saying to me was scripted
Yikes!!!
I sold $25,000 dollars of cutco with this job and Iv made over 10 grand in 5 months around college classes. Not a scam y’all just can’t do sales.
Is it actually really good? I got an interview in 2 hours.. idk what to think of this video though..
got the letter tuesday got my interveiw 3:30 today. well see what happens heard soo much bad things but i wanna experience for myself.
what happened
I went and it was a no go you have to buy the product then try to sell it yourself so weather or not you sold it, they got your money your just trying to make it back
out my way. its a deposit- ilike the knives enough to keep them whenever I decide Im done, but you can get your money back if you want. so its basically renting a (granted more expensive ) uniform
I asked in my interview today if the knives are forged or stamped, and if it's paid training. I got banned from the interview lol.
That's suspicious.
The reason why I said that it's suspicious is because if they are a legit business, they would have answered your question.
The sky is the limit in sales, but you can make nothing at all if you don't work
I agree you must make the calls and appointments but in the long run it's not your sales talent it's how many dumb really rich people you know.
Darren Hoffmann exaclty
This is crazy. I just had this same experience yesterday. Everything you said in this video is what I felt and saw for myself. Thank you. Very informative
Andre Kountz I got an interview tomorrow. but I did a lot of research about this company and I no longer interesting in going to that "interview". should I just no show up or cancelled the interview?
rochkid5 I'd cancel just to keep the moral status of your reputation in tact. You're already not showing so that would be the end of that situation
Andre Kountz yea. thank you dude.
I have training at 11 but reading everything I just feel like its going to be a waste
Why??
It's great for experience and I highly recommend it.
how much are they paying you to say that
Girllllll! Thank you for this video! I have an "interview" tomorrow at 2 and I'm no longer going to waste my gas and my time.
Literally had almost the same experience over the phone yesterday. Thanks for taking the time to spread the word. It really helps. :)
BAD SEED!
The only reason I'm still there is because I couldn't find work anywhere else and am hoping to get a small amount of cash at best before dropping out
thank you so much for commenting! its nice to hear from someone who is actually in it .. I hope you find better employment elsewhere (:
makeupbychelsey I recently just got accepted for a new job somewhere else in September, so I'm glad to say I won't be there too much longer! I just wish I came across this video before I accepted the job offer. Everything you said was pretty much spot-on about the interview process as well as the person you talked to on the phone. If only I knew beforehand, I would've never accepted the offer or answered the phone
Jericho8131 the job is not for everyone. some people just suck at sales and you just cant cut it, not everyone has the luck I do, im not trying to cut you down but its facts. not everyone can be a really good salesperson like me.
doe.J you sound like a really nice person, doe.J
So humble.
miller andrews if people are going to bitch about a job other people excel in what are they supposed to do? just say "yep it sucks and because I'm good at it I suck too"
It’s the fact that everyone that calls it a scam actually hasn’t done the job actually do the job before you call it a scam
I don't mind talking to people but the problem is how will I get to these appointments. I don't have a license or a car.
+Objekter Awesome example! Sketchy Spam is Sketchy Spam. People need to learn!
Jcessaarr I’m assuming you’re not working there anymore. Right?
Yo I just got the job and start training Monday Tuesday and Wednesday
How much money was the security deposit?
I am SO grateful to have found this after applying...ugh
the whole experience made me feel so embarrassed because i thought i got a good job and had to go tell my girlfriend that it ended up being a scam. i hate them so much
im super embarrassed rn bc i was excited that i got hired and now i feel like such a fool!!! lol well be okay!!!
@@keziahcadena2001 lol i quit too kinda fishy but i wasted 7 hours for a damn training but at least i learned their tactics and i could use it for real estate
Young Wolf there’s always a good side to everything I’m glad you found the good side ☺️
James Mall I don’t feel like it’s a scam either? Poor mindsets i guess?
Thank you so much for sharing.. I got the letter in the mail and was going to apply part time, really glad I saw this first.
Thank you for not letting me waste my time
I just got back from a day one of training and decided to do some research on this company
Same bro I am not Doing day 2 of training I’m out
I got the same thing.
Hello I have interview today 🥺
I remember I was in Vector. They would come to my college campus and recruit people. They would advertise making $15 an hour. You have to sell those expensive knives to your friends and family. I made about $600 before I quit.
After the first "interview" I never showed up again.
Hey ik this is like really late I hope you see this but I have training for this company tomorrow should I just not show up I see a lot of negative comments on this company I'm thinking about not working for them and taking on another job.
You saved my summer. You’re cute btw
Kevin R. Serrano LOL i felt like shit too. Glad I canceled as well.
Why bother calling? I'm sure they're used to people not showing up.
Kevin R. Serrano
Mistake. It’s easy as hell. You can either make several thousand dollars in a summer selling knives that are super easy to sell or don’t make several thousand dollars.
It's really easy it's honestly really good
@@WheelsCringe Is it actually really good? I got an interview in 2 hours.. idk what to think of this video though..
Shala Daniels Also, if you do not know that many people, it will not work out.
It's not for everyone.
Fuck this. All the people that sharpen my knives are nice and they love their job. They give scholarships too
I had my first day of training from Vector and I am unsure of what to think because i am unemployed right now and the group of people that were in the class actually went to a conference and we actually heard from a rep out doing a demo.
well it is completely possible to be successful at it .. just be careful about the contract they make you sign and the security deposit and make sure it's something you're willing to do
Life of Chelsey there is no security deposit and the contract is just a regular employment contract. are you for real right now? you don't know anything about this job.
I did this, got the interview, got hired I think I'm gonna see how it works out for myself with my own experience there.
Shaniqua Robinson how was the experience?
Shaniqua Robinson I am gonna go through with it and get the experience as well. My interview is tomorrow, virtually.
Talk to me if you wish to clear it up
Omg, Chelsey thank you soooo much.
They are not a good company.
she's telling the truth...everything she said happened to me but i didnt go to my interview because i had a bad feeling about that place
Yes!!! the interviews are so sketchy!!!!!!
Wayne D ctfuu win. !!
the manager gave that person the paper and said they would "call back" but that means they didn't want the person to have the job. the reason you stayed was because you were obviously a good fit for the job..I work there, and I absolutely love it. I think it really depends on the manager though tbh
I also live in Florida ☺️☀️ , I wanted to start my channel but just not sure what it should be about or what content to upload etc.
I sold these knives for a couple months 10 years ago. Made decent money for the amount of time I put in (appointments). It's a sales job and commission based so take that into consideration when trying for the job. With that said, I still have the knives I demo-ed and absolutely think they are the best and would recommend anyone wishing to get the knives for cheap to "take the job" and leave if you don't think it's for you 😂
You saved me from an interview 🤣😅🤣 I loveeeee your phrasee “No Honeyyy”. 💕
What does to a t mean? Is it a slang ? Sorry I'm from Southern California lol
so true. I just started there and it's exactly the same way for you as me. the interviewing and all. I got there at 4 left at 8:45
and not a pyramid scheme
@Jay R oh and it is an MLM ....you're trippin. It's a KNOWN MLM!!!!!!!!!
@Jay R and yes when you pay for awards, you're likely to win. 50% of applicants if these awards they pay to enter...WIN! OMG
Hello Chelsea,
I got my first job with Vector Marketing back in 2002.
They're marketing is definitely misleading and the job sucks for most people but Cutco knives are LEGIT!
Thank you for sharing your exp, i got a call from them this morning and told me to interview in the afternoon. Fortunately i saw your video before going.
haha well good thing, I should of looked it up before going
Thanks you for this. I start training in 2 days and my brother also use to work with this company. He didn't like it either. But I knew something was wrong with this company at the interview. I'll give them a call and tell them I change my mind about working with them. Honestly I rather be a paper boy than a sales representative.
OMG, I promise u. You just described my entire interview process I just had yesterday to a T. The penny cut, rope, the leather. That's crazy
I freaking knew it!!!! Thank you sooo much posting this. I won't go to the interview next week. Screw them. Iol. You're awesome. Ur enunciation is very good. Great video
Just started work for them. Made $100 just today :D It's a good company. I've loved working for it
Wish I saw this before I scheduled a damn interview for tomorrow
Just don't go lol
+TheMegaKiller41 damn i got one today scheduled tomorrow really thinking about calling it off
I just canceled mine.
...I am being forced to go......for the interview experience -.-' soo glad i spent 2 hours researching this
pyramid scheme, pretty much have to pay in to even try :/
+Charles Andales a lot of places require ss
Charles Andales Jobs require that.
All my jobs have required that for background checks. Kind of important, man.
good video, good for you for just making it and not even caring about getting dressed up / makeup. Im 36 now but was sucked into a group cutco interview when I was about 18, I got a bad feeling and didnt go back even though He told me " You are sharp and the kind I want on my team" blah blah blah.
Do you get paid hourly or no?? i have an interview tuesday. My pay is 17.25 base-appt
I thought that she would reply, but no you get paid based on appointments. So that means going door-to-door in scheduling an appointment with somebody hoping that they would do it.
You would have to set up 4-6 appts a day to be any bit successful / respectful
I never took the Vector opportunity guys, really glad i didn't an even better opportunity came up anyways. Thanks alot i appreciate it.
Everything she says is EXACTLY what happened to me today at my interview. I got the job, we'll see what happens lol. But yeah the whole setup is hella shady
Z Rock how do you like it so far?
Great video! But I can't help but notice your "tell" at 10:34 lol
Thank you for letting me know about this...now I am seriously contemplating whether or not I should go get interviewed by them.
Bad experience and alot of stress not worth the time
Lisa Moffett aw well I'm glad you're out of there, just a shame you had to go through that
