Seeing a lot of comments about the safety of eating river fish raw because of parasites. The fish we ate in this video are not wild caught river fish, they are farmed by artificial breeding and safe for eating raw :) I definitely do not endorse eating wild caught river fish raw!!!

Even artificial breeding river fish is strongly recommended not to eat it raw, those info can easily be found on internet. There is no safe raw river fish unless it is cooked.

@@wualex846 Well obviously there is a risk to eating raw fish but you might as well say that about normal sushi too. If you eat sushi bought in a store it was usually even frozen once before. I'd rather trust a raw river fish that was just alive 10 minutes ago than supermarket sushi. That being said - I'm still getting the cheap as unsafe sushi 😂

For some reason the beginning of this video brought back a flood of memories from when I lived in Morocco decades ago. The no frills identical train stations... The slow, slow train to get out of the city....arriving and asking the cab driver where to eat... I mean the similarities sort of end there but this made me very nostalgic.

China has a long tradition of eating raw fish cut very thin (into strips or even into hairs) that discontinued around the end of the Ming. Called "Kuai" (known as Hoe in Korean). Raw fish was the favorite food of Confucius. This dish survives on in Guangdong only. This restaurant should have recreated the old recipes listed in old cookbooks

Digging how thinly sliced the raw fish is and the pink-orange colour, makes me crave some sashimi. Don't know if I'd wanna risk eating it having to board an hour long train ride, though. The digestive tract may decide to kick into overdrive prematurely...the kitten with heterochromia is also kinda cool.

Chinese also eat raw fish, it's just not as widespread or as famous.
The Chinese for the most part only had access to freshwater fish, so parasite was a big concern.
That has not deterred some people in history though. One famous official in the 3 Kingdoms period in China died of fish parasite, despite being cured once, and warned to not eat more raw fish, he ignored that completely.
