I was born & raised in Jacksonville and I left. Personally, I wouldn't be a visitor and I wouldn't return there... you can spend your money in a better city and have a better experience. Jacksonville is dull, boring and over priced. Not worth the vacation.
I remember visiting the beaches and seeing the destruction from when Dora hit in 1964. I had several aunts, uncles, and cousins around town back then. My dad grew up on Park Street in Avondale.
It used to be great back in the mid to late eighties. We used to cruise up and down the strip it was bumper to bumper. Then the Po-lease came in and ruined a good thing. Still not as bad as Jax itself. Horrible town a big ghetto with absolutely nothing to do. Except Kona. Kona and the beach.
@@4KTravelChannel not like you used to. It was off the chain. Not riots very little fighting because beach police do not play. They crack that head if you get out of line. Kept us in line. Still ran us off. When I say us I mean literally thousands of people on the weekend cruising the strip. Now that I’m older I can understand why they didn’t want a bunch of young kids cruising up and down the road but we weren’t causing any trouble. We were looking for girls you know girls looking for dudes showing off cars.
