Watching this made hungry for something with Maple syrup on it so I made some French toast. I do not like Pop tarts my self, the only time I will eat a Pop tart is if I'm really hungry and it's the only thing to eat. My kids love Pop tarts, I'm more for Toaster Strudel, but through the years they are as good as they use to be. I try not to be to picky on food some times. The way I was raised you would eat what was on your plate or go to bed hungry. As Cook in restaurants or other cooking jobs, I learned to cook the way other people would want it cooked. In one of my earlier jobs I cook candy yams or sweet potatoes. My boss asked why I never would eat any, I told him I did not like them. He is like you cook them so good, everyone loves them, how can cook them so good. I told him my mom loved them and showed me how to cook them, when they are ready, I give them a taste test, if they taste icy like hers I know there ready. He just laughed at me an never talked about it again.

For me this dish is very unusual-I mean combination of sausage and sirup. Really nice ration and review, I'll try to get one if it is still in the current sets

I think this menu would have been an excellent replacement for the VOMELET. The vomelet was nasty to most people. However, there was always that one guy in the company that actually liked it. Menu 4 Maple Sausage was better though. ;)
I have yet to review the Vomelette and not sure I need to. But even not trying it, I can 100% agree with the choice to switch to the Maple Sausage. I really appreciate you watching!! 👍👍👍

Hey Friend!! I totally get why you wouldn't want to eat one of these. I absolutely loved this one! The perfect blend of sweet and savory! I was shocked the FRH sorta worked. Did a good enough job of at least warming everything. I appreciate you John!! Thanks for watching!!
No! Too much water in the FRH! Literally dump some out! Adding salt was a great Idea and makes the heater work so much better but too much water makes the heater not work as well. You need like a tablespoon of water. Actually I get better results with *less* water than the fill lines. Also, shaking it around every few minutes helps a lot. It didn't heat so well because you added too much water. Also, it is kind of old. I find that the older the MRE, the less effective the heater works. New MRE FRHs go from cold tap to BOILING in 10 seconds flat! I think the age of an FRH will significantly affect how well it heats. I've eaten the more modern version of this menu, Menu 17 (from 2019) maple flavored sausage patty and I was not really a fan. The sausage was fine, but I wasn't a fan of the flavor. I used the table syrup for the muffin and enjoyed that much more than the sausage. I wound up mixing the muffin and sausage and it wasn't bad, I just wasn't a fan of this menu from the one I tried. The oatmeal (granola?) to me was extremely bland. Needed *a lot* of sugar. Problem is, I used the sugar for the coffee. Actually, I find I need much more sugar for the coffee than the meal comes with. I always add sugar from home whenever I drink MRE coffee. I do admit I like my coffee very sweet, but the one packet is not nearly enough. Anyway, regarding the oatmeal, I actually like it cold better than warm. It was shocking that the older one you had was identical to the newer menu 17 I tried. Instead of a chocolate "toaster pastry", I got an apple turnover, which I actually really enjoyed. Anyway, I love watching your videos and how you blind taste these. it's always fun opening an MRE and unearthing its contents!
