Jared Wayne Feather? 🤔
Exactly my thoughts! Love tom hardy, but jared would make a kick ass bane
Is Dr Mike preparing for Robin then
Don’t get me too hyped about a movie that unfortunately will never happen haha!
As a random person who has had a former bodybuilder/trainer come up and compliment their form before, thank you for doing that sort of thing. It might seem like a small thing, but most people wonder if they actually know what the hell they're doing, so to get some validation from someone who's obviously figured some things out is really motivating.
" It might seem like a small thing, but most people wonder if they actually know what the hell they're doing "
No, you're full of shit. You have no idea what most people wonder about, just because you wonder about something doesn't mean everybody else does. I love how people just assume that everybody else is just like them.
LOL what a dork
Yes! Nothing like being complimented on form! :D
I work at a major American university and frequent the school's gyms. I'm also a personal trainer on the side and pay attention to how individuals exercise. The young women that come to the gym for resistance training are amazing. Their dedication to form and technique is inspiring. When I ask, "where and why did you learn to lift", the answer is always the same. "I learned on social media and I wanted to get good at lifting so I wouldn't look like a fool in front of the guys". For some reason, they don't realize that a lot of the guys don't seem to have a problem with looking foolish in front of them.
Women have confidence issues. Can't be comfortable in their own skin.
I've noticed that women almost never need to be reminded to maintain good form (once they've mastered it) but some need encouragement to push the effort/intensity. Men, on the other hand, have an innate drive to exert as hard as possible, but will therefore allow their form to atrophy
that's the test
As a trainer, the best compliment is when a random member comes up to me and my client to tell us my client’s form is amazing.
Agreed!
Every time I'm working out, there's a voice in my head when performing the eccentric which is saying "Sloooow, sloooow". It is, of course, the voice of Dr. Mike.
No question, women generally are easier to instruct. I like when guys will seek advice then argue with you as if it they didn't just seek your advice.
As you know, it's just ego. I had it but once I let go of it and said "oh well it's a 20lbs DB but I'm really feeling it more than 40" it click that ego lifting was a huge waste of time.
???
That's what you're supposed to do. Seeking advice isn't about turning off your brains and mindlessly doing whatever the other person told you. You should always think for yourself and question everything that you hear.
@@MrCmon113
Yes and no.
Although I absolutely love your lecture videos, these workout videos have really made a big difference in my training.
In my head, all I hear while working out is chest up, SLOW, SLOW, no bullshit reps.. and my favorite, we're not here to not work.
You've improved my training in so many ways, I promise I will do all I could so you get them lamborghinis!
You forgot: No swinging! , That was bullshit, do it again! , Chest sky-high!
@@ernestosdl7732 I have "that was bullshit" stuck in my head
I like how much Mike and Jared both geek out over form and technique and holy crap, Elises form is definitely one to work towards. I can't imagine the time and effort it took for her to get there, however, the hard work shines through. Friggin bananas.
This is the kind of positivity and encouragement we need more of! Tell people if they have good form or if you can see them grinding that last one out like a mfer (if the situation calls for it - that is).
There's literally no harm in doing it and I can guarantee you it will make (some) peoples day!
I remember you talking way back about how proper form is important and women usually don’t cheat out reps when doing resistance training, and how that’s usually better in the long run for various reasons. So I hired a personal trainer to teach me proper form, and I slashed a bunch of weight off of all my lifts. However I lift with proper form now and I’m still progressing in my lifts. Additionally, I’m seeing more muscle development at a faster rate than I did previously when I wasn’t training with proper form. Thanks for the tips Dr. Mike!
🤓

I was sick for like 3 weeks lol. Covid probably. I don't sound like that now. I'm so sorry hahaha
Another 20 minutes of my life down the fucking drain, the chokehold RP videos have on my existence is unhealthy.

The lat prayer commentary was really good for me. I seem to forget at the top to lower the body slightly and stretch out the lat. Her technique is excellent.
Yes!!! Love the TeamFullROM member content!
Great example of a new mesocycle week 1 workout with flawless technique. I am inspired.
It's like watching ballet with weights
Watching vids of women train vs men is night and day. It's been like this for decades. Women train with perfect form and tempo, it's almost like it's innate. As someone else noted below, probably more to to with how much men ego lift. She's not 5 IR. Each of her last reps per set were about cause her to change form.
@Steve Wise : agree but as men it is ingrained in our psychology that we need to perform and we often associate that with more weight rather than perfect technique.
As for me I try to balance things out by doing a bit of ego lift on a top set and reducing the weight for perfect form for my working set. Sure I could as well ditch totaly the ego lift part but doing a bit of "heavy" weight, granted I'm not strong, here and there when the form do not suffer too much is a bit of a satisfaction.
Most guys do indeed lift to heavy. Candy cane deadlifts. And 75 pound dumbbell swinging bicep curls
@@ConradMarbourg3635 adding more weight overtime is great and all. But not massive amounts. It is however smart if done right
Elise is a BEAST!!!
Great video, enjoyed the Flawless Technique she had throughout; not to mention here overall structure is Awesome as well. Hope she places high at her show!
The first 3 mins of this vid should be a whole vid! ‘Optimal estimations for load/reps when travelling’ (?) At one stage I was travelling for 6 straight months and man, the variations from machine to machine, gym to gym, was crazy
Can we see her again on a leg day?! I watch Dr. Mike so much I feel like we're friends (not creepy, I swear).
Yes! I LOVE seeing perfrct trchnique and watching it on a small woman’s frame is SO much different than watching it on a giant man-beast. This vid was AWESOME! 💙❤️
Yes! Seconded. Leg day with Elise please!!!
I really enjoyed this episode. I struggle a lot with barbell rows and almost got injured doing them and watching this video made me understand why!
As a newbie your statement makes me curious-What did see that stood out? Was it that she wasn’t parallel to the floor?
@@meisdetermined I am also newish to the gym and her form was impeccable. As mike pointed out, she doesnt arch her back and keep your chest up with the motion of "rowing" instead of pulling the barbell without technique
Brian Alsruhe has a bunch of great videos on rowing. Would definitely recommend his channel.
@@jahimuddin2306 ok thank you
she's so calm and chill, kind of crazy shes like not phased at all lol
Watching guys ego lift is a whole different genre of entertainment, once saw a guy ( ~130lbs) load 5 plates on the Smith machine to do what I guess we're shrugs but looked more like standing hip thrusts
RIP Jared. The man is on his death bed practically and still programming for athletes. Now that is dedication… lol

I do agree with the research about mesocycle and having to build to more difficult weeks. Having that time for your body to recover is ideal. I think there may be a problem with it in humans. Most people in my eyes do not know what difficult is or what they are capable of. So for beginners, I think it can be beneficial to take the time to go with the harder than last time approach. Until they have that understanding of their capabilities.
I have seen new lifters try to take the mesocycles approach. They just do not get how to do it. They do not have a reference point. They think they go all out and really have 3 or 4 in the tank. Then they do that for years. I do not feel like most people can understand difficult, going all out, going to failure, or going to 0-1 left. Until they experience what it is; Most of the time it takes more than one time to get an understanding or point of reference. I think when you are a beginner it is the best time to do this because they typically are not pushing the weight that will hurt them as much. I do think they should be a time to learn techniques of the lifts they do, first. I think having technical lifts are more important. After that have a time of finding your capabilities and limits. Then go into mesocycle and work from there. Am I wrong, do you think there is a better way?
Dr.Mike hands down best personality in TH-cam fitness . I’m a 24yo male but bro I’m kinda jealous of your wife lmao. All jokes aside, these videos are changing the game. 👌🏻 you guys are siiick

this has me PUMPED for Saturday!!!
I'd love to see Lean Beef Patty do a workout with the RP fam.
4:10 I just had somebody tell me my squat form was great and we talked about rp for a bit, then literally the next week when I was squatting again somebody interrupted me mid-set to say if I didn’t go down so far I’d lift more weight 🌚
Time to ignore the second one
The fuck kinda logic is the 2nd one? Like no shit I can lift more weight with half ROM
Those lat prayers look like so much fun to execute, but I can feel my shoulders popping out as I watch Elise conquer each rep!
Thank you for another fantastic training video.
Make sure to tell the Music/Audio guy good job on this one
That tempo and ROM is inspiring me to up my game!
Awesome! You guys always coming through with knowledge and motivation 💪

it's hilarious. 🤣🤣
Videos like this make me want to become a trainer
Advice at 2:20 was so practical and useful. Thank you as always Mike and RPTeam.
I use body English for Kroc Rows, Cailer rows, and Power Shrugs. Otherwise I usually find a trash can or underside of a rug to put my ego when I step into any gym, especially for hypertrophy. John Meadows’ anecdote on lightening his curls to go from being strongest in gym to biggest sticks with me also.
Form is impeccable.
This is art.
Whenever I do a lat prayer my triceps get more pumped than my back, can't figure out what's wrong.
I did lat pulldowns last night and I felt the same thing, my triceps were on fire by the end
•Play between rope attachment, ez bar attachment, straight bar/pulldown bar etc.. See if we can reduce the tricep engagement
•You triceps attach to the upper armpit, where you lats also converge too. They are somewhat synergistic especially with lat pull overs/lat prayers. So don’t aim to delete the tricep engagement but rather I’m hoping you can increase your lat engagement
•Play with slightly bent elbows vs straight arm.
Hope these can help you better engage with your lats while doing pullovers/lat prayers
Try to bend your elbows a bit and see if that helps! Otherwise, it's just a great triceps long head movement! - Dr. Mike
Try using a bench to support your chest on, and use a rope not a bar.
Been wanting to learn good lat prayer form 🙏 thank you, great video
I love all these videos. This one though, the audio from the mics seems a little muffled or off? Is it just me? Not talking about Jared's voice today of course haha.
Appreciate you role modeling consent. That shits important.
Mike, I fucking LOVE that t-shirt. 👌
Jared's delts are about to explode
I take a lot of pride in my form. It makes me feel and look more like a pro and it prevents injuries (and I dunno about you, but I don't want to be injured). Coincidentally, I'm a woman. So I guess the initial intimidation of stepping into the gym might have triggered that need to get my technique down.
She was flawless indeed!
her technique is supergood, nice workout !
Love that cambered bar exercise, def a good stretch
You don't have to do the same reps on a different machine. What matters is the difficulty. Damn I wish I had heard that a few days ago. Felt like I was killing myself on a Smith machine. But I needed to get those reps. I HAD to get those reps
That's dumb.
F**k, what a pristine form and tempo
Finally someone that can raise to Marlon Brando’s greatness. Please make Jared do a scene from the godfather.
Mike is giving praise like he's pissed off that the technique is so good.
I see feather you get like. I see the technique and I get inspired. I’d trust J feather with my program, I might get him as a trainer a bday present. So measured and thoughtful, ideal trainer. It feels like he cares about the trainee.
That was awesome in terms of technique advice! Great
i like the lat prayer (straight arm pulldown) as a warmup in the beginning of my upper days. i superset it with face pulls since im already standing in front of the pully. i do the dumbbell pullover at the end of the training so i can really get a nice lengthening in the lats after its been taxed by the vert and horizontal rowing
Might have to steal that back & biceps routine
“Technique Goddess”
Yes.
I don't have much to contribute but have some algorithm gains
Curious why you guys seem to program BORs as opposed to seated cable rows almost exclusively? Just seems like the movement pattern is basically identical, but it's easier to execute cable rows with perfect form as opposed to most people cheating the form with BORs.
They might just like doing BORs more than the seated cable row. Alternatively they could just be looking for something with a high raw stimulus magnitude.
We have found bent-rows to be more effective set-for-set. Also, we like teaching them so folks can do them better. Less of a problem with cable rows. - Dr. Mike
@@RenaissancePeriodization Appreciate the reply and love the content you keep putting out, thanks. 🤙🏼
Flawless execution all around 👍
Liked almost all of the excercises except the face pulls, where I am sure it is anatomically better and a more correct movement to grap the rop in a way that the ends face up and you can point your thumbs into the direction of pulling right besides the ears...
Let’s go Elise!

Do you figure lat prayers are the best accessory for getting the strength to front lever?
I'd imagine if you can lat prayer a bit more than your bodyweight the front lever might not be too hard
Like on gymnastic rings? Lat prayers are a great isolation exercise to feel my lats, and getting a lot of reps and time in on the rings probably carries over the best to the more difficult movements. Strict ring chin ups and other variants, negatives from the lever position
it's also a ton of core though..
It's up there! - Dr. Mike

Love the content, but the audio mix was a bit jarring for this one. For example the SUPER loud audio transition at 1:45
I wonder about the speed of the concentric on lat pulldowns. I've been taught, and I see most people do the same, including Elise here, to just "explode" through the concentric. Is this the best way? I mean, you build a lot of momentum, possibly making it easier at the bottom of the pull down, before the eccentric begins. Or is the eccentric so much more important that this is the best way to get the most reps?
Hey Dr, I only get to train 4 days a week too..... if this were 1 of my days, what would you recommend for my other three ?
That bri in the background if i am not wrong... Wonder if you guys bring her back again for a training session with jared !

Just curious as to why you say eccentric vs negative rep?
Damn that chicks jacked lol
what is the benefit of pausing in the shortened position on the lat pulldowns?
Always around 5 seconds on the negative
