    Hang in there, Wild Beard. My Father was a truck driver for 20 years after turning wrenches for 20 years. Talk about a hard life. He covered over 2 million miles in his trucking carrier. Driving for different companies for 10 years and then as a owner operator the last 10. Owner operator was challenging financial wise but had the freedom to work when he wanted to. So you just have to choose. Money or freedom. He was a good man. He represented the trucking community well. Looks like you are doing the same. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing. Stay safe.

    "A good pilot does not become good flying only in calm sky's, it's only thru rough times and rough weather that make the pilot a good one"
    This is true for everything and a good medafore for almost all situations that life tends to toss at us. stay grounded and move on and roll with the punches as best you can. if all else fails, find yourself a nice tree and sit under it for a bit and ponder things and everything will become a lot more clearer and peaceful.

    Don't get depressed....I hear it's a big deal in OTR.
    I hear so much conflicting info about trying to be an O/O, I can't bring myself to cross over to it.
    Here's the thing....there are people who want to be controlled by an employer for a lifetime, then there are those who see unlimited opportunity in the industry....I am more the latter, but I had some unexpected financial set-backs recently, so I know better than to go in broke....not a good idea.
    Get DAT, see where the hot market is, put your truck there and follow the market. Get tired, deadhead home and rest as long as you want....that's the beauty of it...total freedom.
    Wish I could say the same right now, but it's not my time I guess.

    I have my own authority I was running with Amazon for about a year. I quit running with them last week actually. I know what you mean I got tired of running nights and just feeling like some type of employee period and any problem that you have just will not get settled. Having call centers outside the country people don't even understand what's going on here I still need to watch your video but I had to ask the repairs done and Amazon had me on contract when my truck broke down there was no leniency it destroyed my company's rating for 6 weeks after that I said enough. I'm running on other load boards and it's actually better than Amazon. Amazon makes things really comfortable

    I could pay cash for a 60k dollar decent truck. No payments. I'm single with no obligations. I'm still scared to death I'd go broke with my own truck. Even with no bills and living in the truck im afraid I'd drown in expenses.

    • @jim73ranger
      @jim73ranger 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      60k can buy a gray truck from an owner op. An older classic xl , w9 well taken care of with little to no electronic stuff. Of that 60 45 for the truck and 15 for maintenance/ fuel insurance, food etc to float until the money starts flowing steady. Remember to give Caesar his cut first and you’ll be fine.

    Tried Michelin on my trucks but didn't get shit for mileage out of them, and all my o/o friends have said the same. Which is weird because I run Michelin on my cars and they are by far the best

      @@WildBeardTrucking I use CH Robinson, Coyote, Uber and sometimes JBH or TQL. I don't like JBH, they're cheap and TQL just isn't easy to deal with.
