  • Wild Camping on a ancient Forest Footpath in the cold winds. Time to relax and enjoy the outdoors after weeks of rain/ wind and mud. The cold winds flowing through the trees become a familiar friend as the darkness falls on this lonely old Footpath.

Don’t think I’ve seen anyone wild camp on a footpath and amazed you weren’t passed by anyone!
Top tip for your oil lamp….when it smokes that much just turn down the wick until it stops smoking….then your glass will stay much cleaner and you won’t have to clean the glass often 👍
Going to check out your channel now 👏👏

Hi, thanks for watching, the foot path is an ancient one that goes down a valley meaning a long walk so very few people use it even in summer so I was safe at this time of year and day. My oil lamp is a cheap Chinese one I got for a few euros and the adjustment screw is not the best meaning it does not grip the wick very good. Some times it needs to burn down so the winders can grip the wick.....I need to invest in a better quality hurricane lamp .Thanks for commenting and my content is out doors ,bush craft ,Wild camping, crafting, and hiking related. I mix my content up as I live and do it. If nothing else I try not to get stuck in a rut.Stay safe on the trail, Andy.

It it great to see you out camping again. I actually camped last weekend trying out a new hot tent. No, I did not use the wood stove as the weather was too warm. This winter has been oddly warm. By the way, I am in my 60's, and have no plans to stop camping anytime soon. Stay safe and have fun.

Hi,yeah, it was a good to get out again. It was only 6 weeks but it felt like years. Been a wet winter to the point even high ground was getting water logged. We have also had nothing but gales storming in off the Atlantic to add to the poor camping conditions. That sounds like a good set up with the hot tent you have there.Your 60 and still out camping so there is some inspiration for me to push on through the future difficult weather periods .Take care stay safe and thanks for watching. Andy.

Good point regarding age/seasons! I live in Cumbria near the Fells and choose to camp in late autumn through to early spring due to less people🤔 Being in my mid '60s I'm very grateful for every camp as it's good for my 'head' And, much like you, I have all the gear so it's no hardship 😉 Great video and keep up the good work😎👌

Nice to see what you're up to Andy. I'm 65 so only walk nowadays, still love getting out in the countryside, ideally where there are no people as you say perfect mental reset. Going up to my brother's land on Sunday to walk along a track leading to some forestry he planted about 30 years ago, couple of miles each way, doubt there's many sticks, maybe some Rowan. It's half way up into the Galloway hills at around 500ft, high, open ground, so pretty exposed. Lots of prehistoric sites some of which are mapped, many more aren't. I don't think my partner has been up there before and 3-4 miles will be plenty for her but it leads to the hill where I did my first hill 'lambing' as a 16yr old 300 wise and wild old Blackie ewes :( (daughters of Satan) permanently knackered but I loved it. There's a reason why true hill shepherds are a breed apart.

Hi ,fantastic stories reminiscing you have there. You transported me there in my mindseye and could imagine it fully. Down here in Cornwall we have Bodmin Moor which has our highest points just under 500 ft. I had a lot school friends that their parent's were classified as hill farmer's . Your right about some sheep breeds particularly hill one's that are difficult to man handle at the best of times. Enjoy your walk and time outdoors. You have a beautiful bit of the world as your home. Thanks for watching, Andy.

Hi new subscriber here.I also have the British army basha such a great tarp heavy and robust and will last a long time. Now that spring is in the air I think I will go camping . I prefer spring as in the summer in Scotland we get the dreaded midges and you get eating alive. lol so need lots of smidge and a good midge net. and its not to bad. Great video . and happy camping buddy :)

Hi, much appreciated the sub, I have a desire to get to Scotland at some point again. Everyone has a natural preference to their camping times of year and you have found yours. Autumn is mine......but I am in North Cornwall and its more mild than what you experience. You guys up there are a lot harder than us down here .We get small clouds of midges in certain areas like the High moorlands but as you have suggested Scotland has them on a massive scale.Respect for dealing with them while camping.Enjoy you camping and thanks for watching. Andy.

Hi. They are the standard British army issued ones that can be found in army surplus stores or cheaper outdoors/camping outlets here in the UK. There are better options and there is health concerns by them being aluminium to consider. Thanks for watching, Andy.

Hi, unfortunately I camp at the bottom end of the market so I make my own ,repurpuse or mess tins as show,n I have known no different all my life.
There are plenty of wild campers on TH-cam that have amazing set ups but cost a small mortgage...lol. Take care and enjoy your camping.Andy.
