    That club may have been worth more before you started than after you finished. Nice work though. Solid A video.

    Great video. New subscriber! I have a quick question. I have an old TM Daddy Long Legs Spider Putter, and I want to refinish it with plating.
    My questions, what is the best method to remove the old paint? After I remove the soft face insert (I think I will need to boil the putter, so I can reuse the face insert. Impossible to find replacements) and the plastic piece on the bottom, can I have it plated copper as it is just cast metal? What are your thoughts on plating with this type of metal??

      I would think that the bottom piece cant be plated. It is likely alluminum. I removed the finish and polished a bottom plate on a scotty golo. Best method to remove paint, imo is aircraft paint remover. Boiling is a good way to remove the insert. I would also look at my insert replacement video. A Mokume-gane insert would be next level.

    Very nice, I really enjoy these DIY videos. Can the be done on a SS putter? I cannot tell what you started with. I understand it was already Nickle plated, but can this be done with a SS putter? Or do you have to use a CS?

      The putter is carbon steel that is nickel plated. You can do a stainless putter. You just have to nickel plate first and then copper

      I havent done stainless, but i have seen it plated

    Hi can I check with u isit possible to tape up the areas that doesn't need to be nickel plated before soaking in for electroplating? Cause am thinking to restore some irons clubface /grooves area only rather than the whole club as its only the sweetspot rusted and chrome wear off .

    • @bradreef
      @bradreef  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That should work. I would just make sure to use a tape that adhere's while in the solution.

    Nice work!! is this durable plating? Like to see copper plated wedge or iron and shaft if possble.

    • @bradreef
      @bradreef  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is holding up on a putter. Not so well on a wedge. The turf interaction, gravel, sand, ect just wear it down. I only would recommend on a putter.

    Cool. Does the copper wear off when you use it?

    • @bradreef
      @bradreef  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The putter has been holding up really well. It is in an office where it is used regularly on a putting green. It just tarnishes. The wedge i did copper was a mistake and only held up for a while.

    Very nice work, it kind of reminds me of the process on how to remove rust from steel.
    I do have a question. Have you had any experience or could point me in the right direction on how to "heat treat" a stainless putter head? It's supposed to be similar to the oil can method but without the oil bath. I've found some references to it but no instructions per say, and it's supposed to come out a golden wheat color.

      @bradreef  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the reason you dont see it much is because it doesn't color like a carbon head. Check out my wedge finishing touches video and i torch a wedge. Make sure you polish it well, use mapp gas(yellow), and its the same thing. Prep and cleaning are key

      Use muriatic acid: 5:1 with water. 5 parts water to 1 part acid. Remember to pour acid into the water and not vice versa. If your country doesn’t have Muriatic acid you can use Root killer. Good luck!

      No, just do it as a hobby. There are plenty of companies that refinish.
