I didnt let him live. when he unleashed the vampire horde on the city it was no longer just the personal grudge he held. 4 lives i could overlook due to the situation at hand. however when he placed his hand on the innocents that did nothing to him, allowed children to be slaughtered he no longer was in the zone of being relatable to me. he was a monster that had to be put down for good. Regis was slightly against it but by the end he realizes that when he unleashed that horde it forced geralts hand. i wanted to help him and side with him but he went way to far.

Obsidian Frost he was an alright guy before... syanna exposed him to emotions he didn’t know of before like love and the feeling of being lied to (Regis talks ab that at the beginning.) after being deceived like that which also caused the death of his friend so that he cut off his own hand, he went into a fury and confusion. He wasn’t a monster before, just a man in love. Syanna turned him into one.

@@antoniorodriguez162 I have the same toughts about Detlaff. Also, when you decide to kill Detlaff, the one person who has to suffer the most is Regis. He has to kill his friend, his blood-brother, and will be anathema for that. He has to suffer the most although he has no guilt in what happend to the knights or the town. He just wanted to help a friend. So I decided not to kill Detlaff, I thought Regis deserved some kind of happy ending.

I went with this ending, and spared dettlaff, it had nothing to do with syanna being the real villian, and it had nothing to do with dettlaff being manipulated.
Regis did right by geralt in the past, and "died" for it. If he wanted dettlaff to live, then that's what I was going to do for him. Geralt owes him, and he seems like a genuine friend to geralt, so screw the consequences.

Because Syanna is the cause of everything, and in the happy ending she gets away with it all compared to this one where she is basically punished for it. I honestly love this ending more, because I would rather let Detlaff live and Syanna die than have him become another victim of her own selfishness.

    • @talasattila6401
      @talasattila6401 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

Snappy Zura Indeed :) But frankly I don't mind Detlaff's death. Actually on my first playthrough, I got that sad ending because I was going after Detlaff and not saving Syanna. I like Detlaff, he's such a great character. And I'm sure in the distant past he was a very honorable vampire. But I just could not let him go, no matter what "alternatives" Regis came up with. I wouldn't want to hear him out. Because no matter what is in the background, the fact is that he killed so many people. It was one thing to be blackmailed, but another to attack a town and murdering people out of gelosy and rage. If a love issue causes that to Detlaff, then he was a very dangerous and unstable vampire in my eyes. Such an awesome game :) We can really find our own moral choices among the path variations

You're kind of right, though the Duchess herself is kind of a douche too, maybe more than the sister. After finding some history books you can see that she literally wrote her sister out of history, she apparently also was the real bad one who blamed everything on her sister.

While I did sympathize abit with Syanna.. I do vastly regret that Dettlaff died because I collected the ribbon. I had no idea of the huge effect something so minor would have. I mean.. you play a round of Gwent for that ribbon, thus you play a round of Gwent for an entire ending! I found it hard to decline Regis' wishes because he's just so damn likeable and presents clear, logical evidence for his ways of thinking. I could not bring myself to decline his wishes of bringing Syanna to Dettlaff.
But because of that Ribbon.. this resulted in Dettlaff going mental and in turn forces Regis to kill him. Regis is already walking a fine line between acting like the kind, wise man he is and returning to the old Vampire ways. Something like him having to kill his friend, his blood brethren, might tip the scale for him later down the line. I'd allow Dettlaff to walk free in a heartbeat because I could understand his situation (though his means.. not so much). I just didn't like that Regis was forced to do the killing blow because he felt he HAD to.

It should have been Regis who got the award in the endings where you aren’t thrown in prison. Not only did he betray the honor code of his brethren by killing Dettlaff, he also killed the man who he owed his life so Geralt and Toussaint could be spared.

But realtalk, this being the only ending that's good for Regis makes me hesitate to agree that it's a "bad" ending. It also sees Dandelion partially reconciled with the duchess, and it's the only ending in which the true beast is brought to justice without Anna Henrietta also dying. The fact that she has a sob story to explain why she did it makes no difference, every killer has a motive. The only clearly "bad" part is that Geralt serves a short prison sentence, while every other ending, bare minimum, sees Regis having to permanently go into hiding from other vampires in addition to having to continue uncomfortably hiding his true nature from humans.

On all sites there is 0 info about this ending...you dont break out of jail,u are let out,and u even keep ur house. Also you can inform anna about the fact that syanna wanted to kill her next.Although she wont admit, she understands what her sister did.In addition, regis is happy ,u get to see dandelion again(and also u ask him about priscilla!),and still u get the ending with triss or yen in your house.Sad maybe ,but better good, other options would either harm regis or both of the women.

I love this ending. I think this is the best ending.
I was aiming to get this ending because I don't want Regis to be shun by other vampire.
Sure, the queen hates Geralt, but I think it's better to have awesome immortal friends than some useless selfish ruler who wouldn't care even a bit about the truth because she was overwhelmed by emotions.
I was really sad during the prisoner event, thinking that Geralt's head will be chopped off, and you can guess my shiver when Dandelion appeared there. :))
It also fits the Witcher's theme perfectly, in my opinion.

I consider this as happy ending, thought Detlaff is guilty for attacking the city, Syana is the main Villian and beast of Bauclair to me. I simply couldn't let Regis kill Detlaff, 'cause Regis was the one who helped Geralt to save Ciri and died (in books). In addition, the way Syanna treated Detlaff was disgusting, she is really cursed.
If Syanna would killed that knights on her own, well it would be sort of justified, but this! The fact that Syanna feign love, well it hurt right, but I would move on, but wanting to kill for her. That's simply too much...

I sympathize with Detlaff, but when he decided to launch his attack on Beauclair...when he decided to slaughter countless innocent men, women, and children over a lover's quarrel...that's when I decided he had to die. Yes, Syanna (and the duchess, to a large extent) shares the blame, but Detlaff's actions were unforgivable.

@@lorddormammu9881 Partly the Duchess's fault, but the duchess didn't slaughter hundreds of innocent civilians. That was all Detlaff. If he'd wanted to, he could have swept in, kidnapped the duchess, and ransomed her back in exchange for Syanna. Boom, no one hurt, except for Syanna, who was responsible for the whole bloody ordeal in the first place. But nope, instead he chose to abandon his false virtues of nobility and altruism and reveal himself for the true monster he always was. In attacking the city, he showed a blatant disregard for human life, so I don't see why Geralt should treat his life any differently

I mean, syanna is no saint (she is definitely a bitch), but once detlaff started murdering innocent people, i knew what I had to do. I could forgive killing 4 people (specially because they were rapists sons of bitches), but an entire duchy? No man, no. You could even come up with the excuse that regis doesn't deserve being forced to kill his friend, but if you watch the part where detlaff kills syanna, you can see that's not what regis wanted, just hear his voice saying "what have you done?". I think syanna deserved to die, if detlaff was human I’d say the same but he’s not human and thinks I’m very different ways from humans so while I don’t agree with what he did, he’s not EVIL like syanna mainly was. Unpopular Opinion, but I think this is the best ending. True, its frustrating because Geralt is just watching everything and gets yelled at afterwards, but I think Syanna is the villain that needs to die, not Dettlaff.
She is evil and manipulative, responsible for four murders and a broken heart and she wanted to kill her sister. Dettlaff might be more frightening, but he has a code of honor and isn't plain evil. I don't even classify him as a monster, he is way to passionate and intelligent for that. For all these reasons I prefer to let Dettlaff have his revenge. About the contract... Syanna is the real Monster anyways.

Syanna only dies if you make the wrong decisions after that it gives m the Dickson to either talk to syanna or go to the dutchmess should I talk to syanna to get her to forgive her sister?

I don't think this ending is that bad. Syanna is a treachorous bitch who got exactly what she deserved, Detlaff was being used and deserved to be spared in my opinion, and at least this way Regis doesn't get shunned.
It's a shame that the duchess doesn't realise this and doesn't send Geralt to prision, but everything else that happened is cool as far as I'm concerned.

Ya The main reason I called this bad is because geralt was sent to prison. Washing others clothes, cleaning prison ?:D
