This week I take a look at the Playmobil Ghostbusters ECTO-1 set. It's a brilliant set and is excellent value, particularly as it has lights and sound features.

Do those Slime things crawl down walls like the things from back in day sorta like that did? You might have to wet them to work if do. I"d rate it a 7 out of 10 which is Fine. The Siren does not go long enough also sorta like eh. Then not having the doors open so needing the top entry. Third it would be less than ideal to play with small pieces falling off or easy to swallow. In some ways it looks better than is but nice the Logos are not stickers as that is biggest thing. Kinda cool how has the thing inside to hold the packs or green things stick to the vehicle. You even mention the issues wheels can leave residue or so haha. I'm not really big on Afterlife even though seen it like 100 times ;). I liked the other Ghost Buster crew when had the dueling Cartoons too :).
I love all the Playmobile toys they have released of the 80's & 90's classic TV shows and movies lines. The light & sound features totally put it over the top for me. Can not wait to see which one you open next. This must be hard for you to ACTUALLY OPEN the toys...but these ones NEED to be opened to REALLY be enjoyed. Have a great week.
Haha yeah I agree, these really need to be opened, assembled and appreciated. It's quite easy (for me) to leave action figures boxed, because they are usually in window boxes, but like you say these Playmobil sets really need to be opened and enjoyed.

This is really nice. The light and sound effects really push it to the next level. I like the look of their Knightrider and A-Team vehicles too. There's a lot of thought gone into these.

I completely agree, the lights and siren are the icing on the cake, and quite possibly the cherry on top.
I'm considering getting the Knight Rider and A-Team sets, although I don't know where I'm gonna put all this stuff.

Glad you mentioned the screen accuracy of the Play Mobil Ecto-1, it look brilliant and better than other versions I have seen, and good value for money. The accessories also look great. Removable proton streams! If this was about when I was 11, I would have left 'The Real Ghostbusters' alone. I think I would have hidden the playmobil figures away from friends though and just displayed the vehicle and accessories! 😂
I totally agree. The car looks brilliant on display and it's great to be able to hit the lights and sirens!

I like the bit of "artistic license" with "Ghostbusting" Janine here. She does help the boys several times in the cartoon, although she only uses a spare proton pack in thoses cases, IIRC.
"Secretary" Janine already comes with the Firehouse, so that makes sense to me. Odd that they didn't do a "Ghostbusting" Louis Tully though.
Indeed, she does help occasionally in the cartoon.
I suppose it makes sense to give her an alternative outfit in this set, but I think it's a shame the four Ghostbusters weren't included when this set was released. It means that if you buy the four-pack of guys you end up with an extra Winston.
Still, it's a great set and I'm very lucky to have found it at a great price.

@@MonkeyboysToys I bought everything Playmobil based around the original Ghostbusters film and I think I have at least two Ray figures. One with goggles, one without.

Yup these Playmobil toys are definitely in my top 3 "modern" lines, and are likely to be the best toys on the channel this year, certainly as far as value for money is concerned.

Awesome toy MB, God I really want one of these but just don’t have any space for it. Where were these when we were kids! If I had got one of these back in 84/85 I would have probably shat myself with excitement.
Yeah I haven't displayed mine properly yet, I need to convert my spare room into a display room this year hopefully.
Oh man, imagine if these had been around in the 80s. Having said that, I'm quite glad they are modern because they are now available to everyone at a very reasonable price. Vintage sets are silly money.

Thanks Gerard, yeah I was super pleased to find this complete for a great price. The build quality is very high, and the attention to detail is way better than it needs to be. These Playmobil sets are likely to be the best things on the channel this year. I'm really looking forward to opening the others because they've been sitting in my spare room for ages now, just waiting for me to get around to opening them. Now I've got this ECTO-1 in hand I'm even more excited to open the others and build them.

Yeah I was very lucky to find it without any pieces missing. The previous owner must've been very careful with it. I'm really happy to have it in the collection.

Other than Glowing in DArk that Ghost is sorta like below what would find in Cereal Box not having back ;). I got a Glow in Dark Starroid Aton Alien figure but couldn't get to show on camera ;). I used to really like Playmobil growing up but was too poor to have many. I'd get them from Roy Rogers like Pilgrims or Indians among other sets. My friend had like all these cool playsets and stuff. I have like Men of Action or MAC if got the wrong words with Eagle Force including the Island ;). They had more details or were better bigger than Legos :). The Ecto One seems pretty nice from the outside. I could not put together the Water Mocasin or this other GI Joe vehicle. So I don't know if could build. Should do video of putting it together too :).
This was already built when I bought it, so I haven't had chance to build any Playmobil sets yet.
I will have to build the Ecto-1A and the Delorean but I'm not sure if I will do it on camera because that's not easy, the camera gets in the way.
I have bad eyes and shaky hands so I'm not sure I can manage to assemble it at arm's length. I will see how it goes.

@@MonkeyboysToys Yeah my eyes are not great they seem to work when they want too :). There times I can't read the Set List or I forget to read or do something too :). I saw the box so figured had opened it. I don't think I could guild this Micronauts thing I saw that flapping Hornet kinda one. I Have it though as I found a few pieces :). Well I've done things holding a camera in one hand or having it on my neck ;). That is what makes it part of the challenge ;). Mixing with one hand while holding in the other hehe. Then I try not to show my hands ever. I'll wear these Skeletal Opera Gloves too ;).
It’s a solid item, very impressive indeed! The slime splats are a good edition.
Yup, it's a really nice toy. The build quality is excellent, and I think it's the best ECTO-1 available other than the high end replicas. I'm looking forward to finally opening the rest of the Ghostbusters and BTTF sets.

Haha thanks Dean! Have I convinced you to get some Playmobil yet? In 2021 I would've passed these by without a second thought, but now I'm totally sold on the line. Definitely in my top 5 toylines of my entire collection, possibly top 3. To be fair though, I don't collect stuff I don't like, as that would be madness.

@@AllThings80s The A-Team van is a cool set, although it doesn't have lights and sound. It's definitely on my wish list, along with the Knight Rider set.

Hahaha yeah that's the problem with this hobby. Luke actually did a video on this aspect of collecting and explored why as collectors we are influenced by what others have in their collections.
