I have a 1984 E350 that's missing the handle on the vent window. Is that a replacement the whole thing scenario, or can I pull the handle off another one at the junk yard and install it?
It would have been a great video if you had a camera that moved around. A lot of the time you were doing things off camera. That said I still liked the video and saved it to my 93 f150 play list
Ya if only they made a reasonable oroduct to track the camera. I been getting better staying in frame though this was when I was figuring a lot out still. Thanks
I bought the vent window alone. I can't find any videos of replacing only the glass. you just see videos of people like yourself replacing the whole thing. what can I put on the glass so it fan stick to the frame?? weather strip?
@@Petersonauto yea. I just wanna put the glass inside the frame. but I had put silicone before. but I put it too inward and I had a gap and air would come in. I got it broken in last week. I bought another glass. but idk what to put inside the frame to hold the glass there. I'm trying to find videos but no luck
@@hunterbrown3287 I think once truck sells the whole assembly but any decent glass shop can get old out and new back in without damage or pay for a replacement if they break if
Somebody broke my vent glass, I have the glass, but I can’t find the seal that goes on the glass. Any idea where to get that?? It is t the seal you replaced in this video. It is the one that is just on the glass.
Depends the handle is held on to a metal shaft with a roll pin if the shaft broke you need to take the whole assembly out if just the plastic you could punch out the pin
John Schindler I didn’t do the glass to frame seal. Those suck. They get hard and usually break the glass. But you can carefully pry the glass out. A heat gun will soften the seal and it’s a butyl Rubber type seal
dude same. my vent window cracked. I bought a new one and I just took off all the cracked glass with the seal. I might just put jb weld silicone and see if it works. no one has put video of it. they just show how to replace the whole vent.
R Romero ya your basically buying a new frame see the adhesive is stronger than the frame and well there in lies the issue but install of new glass in new frame is easy just put in adhesive push together and clean up

That nut with the spring twisted and snapped the stud on bottom of my window now I’m screwed why would they use cheap shit for that

Iirc that year has a roll pin holding them in. If the shaft is still there then you should be able to replace just the handle

You want to hold the weatherstrip to the glass and frame? You could use weatherstrip adhesive but it’s a press fit from factory

@@rromero1091 it’s a rubber seal. Some glass shops can get them kinda hard to find

how involved is it to take the seal off that is wrapped around the glass itself?
It’s tough usually cracks the glass. And frame can bend too

What type of glue/sealant would you use to replace the glass in the frame for the wind wing? Thank you.
They sell a hardening urathane for it. Most glass shops carry it may need to ask them what product they use I forget the specific one
there is a special glass tape available from many vendors, it keeps the glass properly centered
