Excellent concise video with loads of great buying suggestions for those just starting out and wondering where to start. Thanks for this. Happy cycling!
no worrys thanks for the awesome support ;) ive found everything to do the job that needs to be done, these bit of kit arn't the most expencive but do the job very very well. ride safe my friend
thanks my friend im glad you noticed the links, its the only way i make money to keep the channel going! any advice how to make this my job let me know ;) ride safe
those little lightweight rucksacks are actually so handy. especially when you stop off at a shop just before setting up camp you can fit a quick beer or 2 and some dinner in there. The most underrated item to take on a bike packing trip!
I have the same Speciallized bike as you my friend. For quite a time I was thinking about investing in bags for it so I can go on longer trips, but I had no idea how would it look like. You gave me a great example and I'm very satisfied with it. I have watched most of your videos and I can tell that you are doing a great job. Thumbs up! Ride safe, enjoy life!
Hey thanks for the support I love to keep things realistic so no fancy carbon bikes ect haha. These bikes are amazing shame most new knackered needs bearings wheels forks group set but breaks are OK lol. These bags are cheap and even if I was rich I'd still get these ones but you can't get this color yet but you can get black ones called lotus rough bags for under £100 a setup. Thanks
Very good review! Good and excellent solutions! Big HELP for me! Wishing you sir happy and safe bikepacking rides in future! All the Best Wishes! Greetings from Sweden to you sir!
Nice one Luke really enjoyed this thanks for sharing mate👌🏻👍🚴♂️hoping to get touring bike or convert my older bike into a tourer .forgot to say all the best for your 2018 adventures stay safe out there 👌🏻👍
Great informative video mate,my problem with bike packing bags though,is that I am six foot two with extra large size clothing and my bags soon fill up with hardly anything in them
yeah clothes are an issue with me too dude, i only take what you see in this video but with my front roll bag on too theres no issue however with different products to myself its deffinately harder to make the space
Unfortunately they don't make these bags anymore, but I will be reviewing all of my saddle packs in a overview very soon 👍 many thanks for your comment.
That Karrimor bag is ace, I use the same! If you wanted to shed more weight you could swap the basha for a DD 3x3 superlight tarp or a 250g poncho from AliExpress (£8?). Also get a Abus ultralight lock. Just couple of ideas. How do you find the aero bars? You've inspired me to pick up a set
Kool yeah very good dry bags. Yes thanks I'm looking into a new tarp as seems are wearing out a bit. Kool glad to hear it yes bars are great just need to position them right but that's down to how you personally feel comfy. Thanks
thanks for the support much appreciated my friend ;) id go for specialized armadillo's for 28mm-32mm or schwable marothon plus in 30mm-32mm. no worrys my friend.
I haven't I'm afraid there not publicly available yet. Lotus make a 'tough' set which are black and pretty much the same. Hopfylly they will be in stock soon.
Interesting setup. One thing I noticed is no tire levers, chain tool, or spare parts like brake pads, etc.. Can you comment on what you normally carry for repair items? I come from long distance in remote area style riding, so carry an entire bike shop! ;>
Excellent video! Do you not bring extra spirit for the stove? I find my alcohol stove goes through a lot to boil water. (sorry if I missed it in the video)
I have been thinking about getting a Karrimor bivi bag. Do you get any condensation problems on the inside? How do you find the size? is it wide enough and can you fit a sleep mat inside it? Thank you.
no condensation is fine long as your not sleeping with your mouth inside the bag ;) yes i place my sleeping mat & bag inside without issues, in winter with my -10c bag its a squweeze but still room to move about. great comment thanks for posting ;)
Thanks for the information, its very much appreciated. There is very little info about this bag or reviews that I can find on the internet. Looks like its a winner though.
Great video again mate. How are you finding the karrimor bivvy bag for the price I think they great. That specialized bike you got is probably my favourite bike you have. If I lived by you I'd be borrowing it all the time lolol. Good luck and stay safe mate
thanks my friend for the great support ;) yes the bags godd no problems so far in 6 months, thanks dude i love this bike too but its running out of puff with bearings groupset & forks worn out :(
hippyswift yes I remember you saying about the forks I think you should send video links of the videos that feature the bike too specialized and cheekly ask them for support..... folk donation like my late dad used to tell me ..... if you don't ask ... you won't get. You never know .
hey thanks ;) yes i've done thousands of miles with these bags. the material is waterproof but like any bags water can get through the seems in very heavy rain, i have only had this happen once in a very bad storm that lasted for a few days so could have been condensation. i always use dry bags in my kit just in case the worst happens but never normally an issue. i rate these bags and for #100 or under for a setup its well worth it, ride safe
These will be available next year buddy, nice to meet you other day :) lotus make a black model bag called 'tough' model which is same but in black, I've told them everyone loves the camo so hopefully will release them 2019. If you go through my amazon links then look up the words 'lotus tough' or 'lotus bike' ;)
not yet my friend, trying to find a new bike as this one is shot to ship! I am going for fastest between two points but i cant say what record exactly at this moment sorry. ride safe
sorry for the late reply dude it didn't notify me :( th frame bags about 6-7L and seat pack around 12-14L very good design on these bags but they sell under the name 'lotus tough'
I don't train but I will be training this time for a few 100+ mile days. Yes I will be doing it on strava but I don't post much to be honest as kills my battery
hippyswift cool be good to see how you get on with those, I just got a wahoo cycle computer for navigation but it also tracks my rides and uploads them to Strava seems to have a decent battery life too, good luck sending positive vibes your way!

hi, thanks it is a very fast setup :) this has done me very well & have seen many places
Being not an english native i havent understood how you call the stove-pan thing. Can you please someone give me a hint of what it is?
The stove is an alcohol burner & the cooking pot is a msr titan kettle 👍
What saddle and/or bib shorts do you use. I did 150 mile on my mtb and was very sore after. Enjoy watching your vids. Thankyou
thanks, i use endura padded cycling shorts, 5 years old now so probebly time to get some new ones haha. thanks for the support my frind, ride safe
hi , great setup, one questions : have you done a lot of cycling with those lotus bags? how are they holding up in the rain? are they waterproof?
hey thanks ;)

That's not a "Sustrans England map".
mabe you could share a link to a newer sustrans map?this map was from 4-5 years ago so may have chaged but it shows all the sustrans routes
Sorry - my point was that it was a map of the UK and the entire Sustrans network as opposed to a map of some regional portion of it.
ohh no worrys buddy ;) i just get toung tied when doing the recording
Man that I light lol
thanks dude hope you well and riding far ;)
What world records are you going for? Did you follow Micheal breaking LEJOG? That was insane.
yes his statistics are amazing!cant believe he done it in 43 hours thats crazy determination and covering scotland in the final half was insane.

Fair play! Think the only world record I'm going to set on a bike is the number of twix choc bars in one day while riding.
haha sounds like i'd beet your record at eating choc's dude i get through loads too haha ;)
