BMW M5 E34 Race Car || 334Hp/1180Kg Inline 6 Monster - St. Ursanne 2018

- This is Aramis Cereghetti´s Monster and a quite uncommon one. Although BMW M models are certainly popular among the HillClimb Racing crowd, the E34 Series 5 model is quite the unique pick. But after years of development, it is now lightened to a very impressive 1180Kg figure and taking full advantage of the Naturally Aspirated 3.6L Inline 6 engine unit, here producing 334Hp/7.300Rpm and 400Nm of Torque.
Adding a 6-speed Sequential Gearbox by Bacci and we have a quite unique machine that maximizes its capabilites while retaining a lot of the characteristics that made the E34 M5 such a success and pionner among the Sport Saloon genre.

You can hear that engine has been tuned to perfection, such smooth linear acceleration, must be a joy to drive.
That motor sounds really slick
At 334 HP, it could be a stock'ish engine.
Its like 20hp over the euro spec m5....310-315hp stock

That gearbox whine gives me flashback when i played Need For Speed Most Wanted when driving the M3 GTR.
Sounds like a jet as the revs builds up.
Thats not the gearbox, thats the engine. My M20 E30 sounds the same near redline.

Hearing an S54 e46 M3 GTR trackside in real life, the transmission is the first thing you hear, over the engine note.

Added lightness! 1180kg for a caged e34 is a superb effort. Lightening a race car is better money spent than tuning more power in a heavy car. Superb car. Superb.

Beautiful run in a great car. Is that HP figure correct? The stock E34 M5 makes 312HP stock and it doesn't take much to get close to 400HP. This engine sounds much healthier than stock.

Hp figure is correct, confirmed with the owner/builder of the car. Pretty conservative figure we agree, but then again it seems to be used in its entirety in a very efficient manner 👍

It does seem quite torquey: the pull out of hairpins in 2nd is impressive.
Mark, the stock M5 E34 (S38) makes 340 HP (not the first one S36)
@@Vidocqtube, the description stated this was the 3.6L engine, which is the first engine in the E34 M5 (S36) that started out at 312HP. You are correct that the 3.8L (S38) version had 340HP stock.

Tuomas Kiviniemi it probably has a carbon fiber trunk that deletes the middle lights to save time and weight.

buRa Yeap.I haven’t seen the description.It is hard to believe that they have reduced so much weight.I used to have a completely striped out E36 and could hardly reach 1200Kgs
