Valmont is way better if you're not explicitly into dirt jumping. Valmont's slopestyle area is way better for mountain bikers, it's got the elevation, Berthoud is totally flat, the suspension just eats all your speed.
Looks like a great place for a DJ/HT and some fast rolling tires. As you pointed out, you gotta make your own speed so anything that saps your momentum is gonna be very noticeable.
I was out there yesterday. The park is definitely built for Dirt Jumpers and BMX. The smaller lines in the warm up jump lines is sketchier than the bigger jump line. That left line is much better. As for the big jumps at the top, on the Right most line i had trouble at the 4th jump, its a lot different taking a lip that large with steep landings to maintain speed. I didnt try the line with the whale tail and shed feature as i couldn't get the blue line figured out on my 160mm travel enduro, haha. That being said the blue and black line are definitely not beginner jump lines. A guy was out there doing tail whips and back flips. Like i said its more of a dirt jumper/bmx fantasy park, I wish i had this when i rode BMX. Full suspension riders have to put in a lot more effort with this style of park.
Totally agree. Not good on a full suspension bike at all. Hardtail would probably do better, dirt jumpers and bmx are what it's really for though. The small progression jumps are the sketchiest I've ridden in a long time, the speed window to hit them well is very small, nothing bad will happen if you go too slow, but if you go fast, you'll way over-send and land in the flat bottom and it's not good at all.
I drive by this park all the time, never checked it out. I used to go to Valmont BP when I was a kid but this one looks completely different.

It's so cool they build stuff like that out there. It's new, they'll get it dialed in as folks use it more.
Man, I love the kid like enthusiasm at the sight of the park in the beginning. Lol

I’m gonna take my priority sauce there next time which is rigid, I think it would be a lot of fun at this place
