    Woh, things just got real! Thanks to viewer Ryan Monteith for bringing this to my attention! It turns out, in Final Fantasy 8 Remastered you can FORCE rare enemy spawns repeatedly to mug the items they are carrying. This is clearly an INSANE discovery that means a bulk of farming time is now a thing of the past!
    If there are specific rare encounters that you think are going to be really ideal to use with this method then please let us know in the comments, I am sure we would all appreciate your insight :-)

      This works even with killing? Then i'd have to say that this exploit is caused simply by the game storing the last monster you battled in its internal memory then wiping that memory the moment you initiate another random battle within the same session. But since you save and reload without getting into any other battles (thus starting a completely new session), the game dumps that stored encounter data onto you the moment you reload your file as the next thing you're supposed to fight as a means of clearing temporary memory/data.
      If that's how this works, then, technically, this should work with any monster in the game that isn't a boss or PuPu. So long as it can be encountered on the world map, this should work for any monster in the game.

    Conclusions from testing. It saves the rare spawn period. You can take it with you by using no enc, and changing location and saving there. It doesn't matter if you kill card or run from it. If you save after an encounter and fight another but reload the save without saving again the manip will still work. So far I chained ruby dragon to t rex to blue dragon.

    All of the coolest things I’ve learned on this play through by far is RNG manipulation. It used to take hours sometimes manipulating the card rules. I would have to play over and over again to see which rule spread or was abolished. What a pain! Now, I learn that to abolish Plus on Lunar base, I need to say “no” x4 and “quit” x6 and voila! Plus is gone! Just like magic! Really cool that people have “cracked the code”! I’m sure it’s a lot harder on newer games.

    Funny story. When I was a kid playing ff8 on ps1. I was maybe 8 years old? I don’t remember what point in the game I was in but it was the very very early stages of the game maybe around the ifrit encounter and as I’m running back to Balamb I run into a t-rex and my health was already very low from a fight I just had and I had no potions no cures. So I run into a trex and ofcourse I die. When I go to reload the game il go make a run for it again and I hit a trex AGAIN. No matter what I did I would always die and have to restart and the trex kept spawning and I had no idea why. I had no choice but to start a new game from scratch because there was no way to run away and I had no way to heal at all lol. All these years and I finally
    Get an answer as to why.

    If I had to guess, this works because the game's memory has loaded a specific fight for you to win. In this case, the Blue Dragon. But since you don't actually defeat it, and instead steal, save and reload your file, the monster somehow gets saved into the game's memory as the next fight for you to undertake since you didn't actually kill it or immediately trigger a random battle right after running.
    Kind of reminds me of that one exploit in gen 1 of Pokemon where you could use the Old Man to force your game to store temporary data on the cart, then use that temporary storage fact to brute force encounters with certain Pokemon on the coast of Cinnabar Island. Or less (perhaps even more) known, using Trainers to force an encounter with Mew.

Fought two Glacial Eyes with one of them carding to the Jumbo Cactuar card the other one just the normal one. Did the trick again, Two Glacial Eyes, one giving me the normal card the other a Jumbo. After carding a single enemy and getting the Jumbo, now after resetting I always get in battle with two enemies but the second one always has the Jumbo card. Currently 1 hour and 40 minutes playtime with 28 Jumbo Cactuar cards.
      Saving twice over the same file before resetting will break the RNG.

    • @Zhadum456

    • @TheEternalStallion
      @TheEternalStallion 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Zhadum456 I can get 100% encounter no matter how it's killed, as long as it's a world map monster and I am running around in circles in a small area close to the place I last encountered the monster after loading the save. This game uses a pseudo RNG for everything. The RNG used for encounters, RNG used for angelo searching, RNG used for item drops, RNG used for mugging, RNG used for card rule manipulation etc etc all act individually and independently of each other but in the end it's not true RNG. It's a fixed pattern which you can replicate. I'm not kidding about this. You can do a fixed pattern of killing monsters in a battle to manipulate drops as well.
      Explanation: This is rather technical stuff which most won't understand. The reason why you have to save and hard reset for this to work is that RNG value is also reset to its initial position when you do a hard reset. So let's assume you killing T-rex is the last known position of this RNG value. When you save the game right after killing T-rex without doing anything else, this data is also saved. But without saving, if you move around to a new location right after or encounter another monster this RNG value is moved to a new position. Therefore you won't get the same previous encounter. Hard resetting and loading the save, loads the exact RNG position you last saved at so the encounter happens again as long as you don't stray too far from the location you saved at. This same concept applies to every single RNG manipulation in this game because that's how simple Pseudo RNG works. Picks off from the last known/saved data and treats that as the new initial position. PRNG is most of the time reproducible as long as outside factors are similar. So you can actually call this Pattern Matching as repeated patterns is what's happening here.

    On Disc 3 in the Deep Sea Resarch Center, by going down the Fixed Encounter Route you can actually indefinitely farm the Tri-Heads(Mug Curse Spikes > Mod into Dark Matter) without ever leaving the Map with the Savepoint
    How this works (for me, 100%)
    You go down the Fixed encounter Route
    You reach the map with the first fixed encounters (Tri-Heads)
    Theres a Savepoint, and right before it a fixed encounter.
    You hit the savepoint > go into your menu > go to the switchmenu > go INTO the switch menu and just quit out of the menu alltogether.
    Take a few steps back > BAM fixed encounter again.
    This sped up my Darkmatter farming tremendously as i never needed to reset the map by leaving and rejoining.
    Sadly this only works for the Tri-Heads afaik/tested

    • @crawlingkhaos8970
      @crawlingkhaos8970 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tested it, but I would assume carding wont work because it puts the enemy in a "defeated" state, which would in turn, likely move the game's RNG onto the next random monster encounter once initiated. "Defeated" doesn't technically have to mean killed. "Defeated" means anything that triggers the victory fanfare to play and the characters to do their victory poses. So while carding will not kill the enemy in question, it will "defeat" the enemy in question, resulting in battle victory. Which I would assume will break the RNG and ruin this exploit.
      I think the reason this is working is because instead of winning the battle, you're running from it. This in turn causes the game to store the last enemy you battled into memory until you either beat it or initiate another random battle within the same session to break the RNG chain. Since you're saving and reloading, the battle data is saved into your file then dumped as the "next enemy you fight" once you reload your save. Thus, you will always fight it until you have either won or immediately seek out another battle.

  • @anthonyshreve3183

    So we've got confirmation that this works on the world map. I wonder if this would still work for indoor areas when near a save point. I see no reason why it shouldn't but if anyone knows for sure, lemme know! I'm about to check for myself, so if no one confirms before then (or if I just missed a comment somewhere), I'll come back to update and edit my comment.
    EDIT: Can confirm that this still works on indoor areas as well. I tried it both escaping and killing mobs. 5/5 escaped from 2 Grats in Balamb Training Center and then 5/5 killing 2 Grats in Balamb Training Center. I think it's safe to say that no matter where you are, as long as you save, exit, and reload between each desired enemy encounter, it will repeat after every reload.
    Happy farming, Final Fantasy fans!!

      @FuzzfingerGaming  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @anthonyshreve3183
      @anthonyshreve3183 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      And given the fact that you can turn off enemy encounters with the touch of a button, anyone can easily get their desired encounter, mug and/or kill, turn of battles, and then run to a save point anywhere, save, quit, load, an repeat for literally any encounter anywhere. Just depends on how motivated someone is to farm whatever it is they're looking for.
      At least you should be able to in theory. In the Balamb Training Center, I had to load a new area between where the battle occurred and where the save point is located and that didn't appear to make a difference.

    I think you can do this strat too to get a fixed 13 ultimas in the ultima draw in shumi village in disc 2...
    I dont know how really RNG works but this is how i do it...
    Put squall j-mag to 65+ value, and do your roaming strat around shumi village... I roam until S-RANK salaries have popped up twice...
    After this i will save the game then enter the shumi village and draw ultima using squall, note that it will have you a static 8 ultimas... After this should exit and reenter your save file... After this, draw again the draw point and it will give you static 13 ultimas
    PS: I dont really know if im lucky but i farm the blue dragons by hugging the mountains behind shumi village and the chocobo range

      A. The guy in the back at the Cafeteria. Play cards. 20 El's give you 1 EC.
      B. Do this video's RNG trick in the lanes of Esthar outside the city (works with EVERY rare encounter in game)
      C. There is a guy who laughs 'hehehe' in Esthar (its 1 screen to the left of when Lunatic Pandora passes through the city at Point 2). Kill that guy, leave the screen and return. He respawns. Unlimited Moon stones (for Irvine ultimate) and EC's (For Squall Ultimate)

    • @Ph33rTheDens
      @Ph33rTheDens 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keeping a low level is a challenge in itself. It's much easier in the Remaster though since you can simply toggle random encounters on and off without having to get Diablos to learn Enc-None first and wasting an ability slot.
      After that it's a matter of avoiding EXP when grinding AP by using Quetzacotl's Card ability, or avoiding XP in other forced encounters by casting Break on the enemies which turns them to stone and nets you 0XP.
      Other than that, everything flagged as a "boss" gives 0XP to begin with. The reason you're level 36 is because you are fighting random encounters normally.
