  • Way too much work has gone into this thing to list, it was a BJ42 hardtop short-wheel base and now it's an extra cab ute with an LS3 on an 80 Series Chassis. Join Paul as he goes all over this absolute animal of a build.

A 6.2 L V8 BJ80 extracab ute with a touch of fruit going by the flames out the exhaust. Yep I'll have one of those. Nice work on the conversion, it has enough restraint in the visual appeal compared to some other FJ 80's I've seen and the sound of that V8 turns people green with envy every where you go I bet. Yeah very bloody nice indeed!

Nice vehicle. Thanks Paul and Lawrence. Good to see the old style front bar and Warn 5274. Keeps it in context. The LED strip in the cabin is an excellent idea, as opposed to those silly LED light bars (used as daylight driving lights) that probably cause accidents by dazzling people. Restraint in design and installation always has its place.

I remember seeing this beast on NULON a few years ago, I will say I am a bit sad to see the 1HD-FT Go but what an amazing rig! Well done Lawrence!

when I built the car it was going to be a tourer, hence the engine choice. Then I update the vehicle on the property with a single cab 79 so this sort of changed the intended purpose of this car. After a year now the gremlins have finally been sorted out and it did it first bush trip without any incident. Next up is another drive back up to Brisbane for CLECS23 hopefully without any issues, unlike the last one!!!!. The HDFT engine and gearbox and bits all sit on a cradle ready for a MWB 46/80 build in a few years time, so it will be back.

    Man that tub is nicee.
What a well thought out rig, I cant fault it, exactly how is like it. I probably would have kept the ft with a manual, and maybe some 200 series seats. But every man to their own!

Ferg, if you can’t fabricate don’t hate. Plus not everyone wants everything the same. Plus 1 of the million 40 series out there. It won’t hurt 1 that is fine this impressively. Furthermore you complaining about peoples opinions is contradictory, in Lawrence’s opinion, short leaves, and carby straight engines from 1970 are inferior to coils and a chev. Let the man have his opinion
