I saw him in Erie, PA with Mulgrew Miller. During intermission he sat with me at a table and shared his life story. Then he signed his CD. I lost that CD at a pawn shop. :(
Toots,saw you at green street many years back, I've been playing since 12 years old , now 80 &sill love it ,first time I heard you I was amazed at what you could do so I got myself a chromatic, and after about 70years of practice I'm getting close , but can't read a note, but just to thank you for Many years of injoyment,al of us that know the difficulty of playing that instrument just love to listen to you masterfully play,I love you and your music, thanks again,Ray Beauvais.
He covered so many tunes along with greats! His has been the haunting, melodic harmonics we have been hearing for years on too many to mention. Thank You for fifty years of my life listening!

He was only 66 at the time, at the age of 92 he performed yesterday... and it was still hauntingly beautiful.

Saw him playing live at a small pub in my hometown in the late 70's. One of the best concerts I've seen. He will be missed.
Toots has affected so many lives with music and its unique version that reaches into those secret places we hold dear.
