Excellent exposition of Anandabhairavi ragam in raagalapana.! Sanjay is really a very seasoned Vocalist with perfect tone and diction. He did give the needed modulations of the ragam in rendition charanams. that praise Lord Padmanabha in the Andolika chariot while Indira and other celestials welcomed him and his consort -Goddess Lakshmi with folded palms above their head., on the festival ! Sang Charanams 1 and 5 . Presented a comprehensive swarakalpana ... extempore with a host of permutations and combinations with the raga notes ! Fantastic recital.....Best wishes!
“Sangeetha Kalaanidhi Sri Sanjay Subrahmanian’s concert is wonderful to hear. It touched the hearts all those who heard this song sung by him. All enjoyed hearing it sung in slow pace. Ultimately, slow and steady wins the race. Absolutely. - “M.K.Subramanian.”
what a fine concert...Sanjay's sweet natural singing, no gimmicks....music first ego second.....such a natural feeling you dont get in concert hall. o! to have heard MMI in such places...those bygone days...
Just mesmerising ananda bhairavi with a great Jaaru in kalpana. Swaram..Varadha bhai violin just matched the beautiful rendering nonetheless all the percussionists provided the beautiful nadham..Totally made a divine experience..Tx a lot
Fabulously rendered a beautiful song set to a splendid raga. Sends the listener into raptures! Hmmm if only the 'circus' in swarakalpana was avoided.... :)
Such camera operator (or the editor who mixes) should be totally avoided from carnatic music ( and from most indian classical art). Look at how he is shifting the camera focus to Sanjay or Varadarajan only when each of them sing. So you dont see the expression and the mutual appreciation gestures of the artists. Such programs should be shot on camera in a fixed frame where we can see all the artists at a time. Horrible is the focus on the palm only of the ganjira!
Srini.N Palanquin... Carried by people.. This song is for one of the festival days where Lord Padmanabha take rounds in the temple on different vehicles each day..
I am aware that this is a very late reply, but here are two recently released videos by Prince Rama Varma, which explain this song in detail. 👇 th-cam.com/video/oQ0gdkqkFlI/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/yuWhc8xz7ZA/w-d-xo.html
@@thecarnaticmahesh Thank you so much for pointing me to an authentic translation for the kriti. I had come across some translations earlier too but I was not sure how authentic they were because I had no clue to the backgrounds of the persons providing such translations. However I am not sure whether SS sang the whole kriti bcz there seems to be more stanzas translated (and sung) in the links given by you. Thanks again!
@@nzpers My pleasure, sir. Definitely - Prince Sri Rama Varma is indeed a very authentic source for explanations, especially of such kruthis. Yes, Sanjay sir has not sung all the Charanas mentioned in the two videos, but it is nevertheless a great rendition. :)

Listening Sanjay is a blessing from Music God. The finest simple person with amazing qualities knowledge. We love his easy presentation
Soulful❤
Out standing songster. He has brought out the essence of Anandabhairavi. Kalpanaswara rendering also need special attention.
Very nice rendition of Ananda Bhairavi that is heard in recent times. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Thanks for sharing.

Simply great. I was mesmerised by your rendering
Perfect comment!
This composition has to be popularised in cutcheries.

Just divine ....inexpressible feeling...
great rendition sir!
incredibly superb
Looks like someone is highly inspired by MDR. Thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless.
Anadhabhairavi at its best, another famous anandhabhairavi is Paluke bangaramayana

Excellent!
attahasamana rendition...pls upload a few more cutcheries of yours this season.....
Rama Balasubramaniam
Fantastic
very nice
Maaaanasa guruguha rooopam bhajare !!! Athe pole ind sir.. Is there a history for this resemblance?
Same Raga : Anandabhairavi. Hence the resemblance . . .
Thank u..
Agreed. It shows his control and virtuosity. But somehow, imho, it went against the slow gait and the soft mood of the composition.
🙏🙏🙏
MDR'ish rendering of swaram
anandabhairavi at its best :)
typical sanjay style of singing anandabhairavi.
2:42 ! bliss .
Good rendition but It would have been more enjoyable if the tempo was a little bit quicker
R Ramanathan Anandabhairavi in it's true form is enriched with this tempo sir. So I can assure you have got the best.
The beauty of the prayogams of anandabhairavi lies in the gamakams coming out at this pace. This can never be raced through

I dont know Malayalam. Can anyone translate the lyrics for me? Atleast what 'Andolika' means? Is it a palanquin or chariot or swing or anything else?

Sorry to say this none can sing AnadaBhairavi as Semmangudi ... This one is good... Unfortunately I didn't get that kick... :P
