Glad to hear I'm not the only gear head. The whole idea of being prepared for things that I will likely never encounter being perhaps a product of my past gives me much pause for thought - as you often do,,, My favourite podcast ever, this one. 💖
There is a quilt show in Madison the same weekend of Wisconsin sheep and wool. It is possible to do both that weekend. Hope to see you there. You have amazing fabrics for your bags!
I have a mystery gourd squash vine growing along my alley. The neighbors & I are all cheering it on with great curiosity. So far our bet is that it is some sort of melon. Can’t wait to find out!
I love to make blackberry syrup! I put them in my steamer, and then add an equal amount of sugar to the amount of juice it produced. It does require a steamer, but it is my favorite way to use blackberries when I am running out of freezer space. (Also works if berries have already been frozen.)
Another excellent episode, AB!!! Thank you! I especially enjoyed your review of the book, " Shopping all the way to the woods." My son thru hiked on the AT last year and then came to work at a large outdoor gear warehouse. He has LOTS of thoughts about the whole experience. I will reccomend the book to him!
Hi Amy Beth, have you seen Amy Goldman Fowler's book, The Compleat Squash...? I think you may need to acquire it for your garden library... it's literally gourd-eous! As for your tomatoes, I wonder if your garden is experiencing hot overnight temps - because that will prevent new toms from taking fruit (like over 65F is too hot for bedtime hours). Love the upcoming bag temptations - the faux embroideries are so cool!
I especially like your book reviews. You seem pick really interesting books that I dont see in my LBS but my library usually has them. I do like that bag with the yellow zipper!
Not even through your intro…..I’m under a blanket in the living room getting over a cold. (Translation: still feeling miserable.) and your video popped up yay! I’m going to watch the rest when I wake up from my nap. 😴 ❤
I am ok with receiving your “garden dump” ;) I don’t know how big your grow bags are but they actually need to be quite large for your plants to grow and thrive. Mine are maybe 2’ in diameter. I’ve tried different set ups every almost every year and I prefer to grow only one or two small plants of tomato with a few herbs and lettuces by their feet. Kind of like a two tiered planting. I only managed to produce winter squash once and only 2-3 small squashes, about the size of a baseball ball. I find that tomatoes, herbs and beans grow well in them. But not too crowded and they always need more watering than in full ground because the surface for water evaporation is much larger. Hope this helps !
Always start my runner beans and french beans inside. Sprout in a glass jar, pot up into soil, then out into window boxes. And i get a good yield for the number of plants i have space for. Blackberry and apple crumble is a good way to use blackberries. Potatoes here were killed off by blight because we were so cold for so low with so much water. I like to grow bags/pots/window boxes for growing because i grow on a patio. But i know that it will affect yield and needs a lot more babying than planting on the ground. Everyone here has said it is a really weird year growing wise. yield is down, late to mature etc. Gardening is very dramatic!
I’ve JUST heard that Ethan story on a podcast or something recently. They were telling the American Annie or Anna pov. The emotional catfishing. I really don’t remember what I was listening to. Weird. Anyway they mentioned the book.
I am so excited about your bag update! I want five different bags 😂 I’m definitely gonna have to narrow it down. I was wondering the pastel ghost rainbow if it was going to be in a large wedge as well? You always choose the cutest fabrics! I hope you have an amazing weekend! It’s almost Apple season here in North Carolina❣️
Great Halloween bags! Squash vine borers would get my squash every year, back before I decided the woodchucks had won and stopped growing vegetables. 😂 I think diagnoses of mental illnesses tend to be a bit more fluid than physical diseases. Physical diseases often have a component that can be seen, while mental illnesses are diagnosed based on observations made over time, and of course the patient is changing over time.
@@annbaker8748 I randomly remember! It is Behr’s Winter in Paris. I’m not a huge fan of blue, which of course is my husband’s favorite, so this was the compromise. We painted five? eight? What is time? Years ago, and I still like it!
So we moved to Hawaii and my dog now requires apoquel also. It’s so expensive but I found at Walmart it’s way cheaper for a 30 day supply. I didn’t realize Walmart pharmacy filled animal scripts. If you call the pharmacy they can quote it over the phone.
I listened to Patric Gagne being interviewed by Anna Sale on the Death, Sex and Money podcast last April about this book. I have not stopped thinking about that conversation since then. In the interview she did acknowledge that she has not spent any time in jail because she is a white female. I have been thinking about reading the book and I think what is holding me up is that this an uncomfortable topic for which there is no neat and tidy solution . After hearing you talk about the book I think I will go ahead and read it. I recommend the podcast to you.
@@fotiniwalton oh friend❤️ These we’re white half runners, so I got to think of them when i planted, while I was snapping them (did you ever get really stressed that you were leaving strings behind?), and most definitely while I was eating them. Aunt Ethel too as I always associate her with green beans too❤️
Love the rainbow ghosts - looks like puffy paint from the 80s
I always start my runner beans indoors, I have been known to start onions and garlic indoors.
Thanks for being so open ❤!! Love seeing your beautiful progress. Happy Making and Reading 😊

you had me laughing so hard in your intro!😂 i am here for your squash dreams, and i hope they come true!
Love the ghost fabric. Interesting...I went to high school with the author of the first book you discussed, Anna Akbari.
The quilt, oh my gosh! Inspired,

I love the skull with mushrooms fabric! The whale is my favorite part. I have been sick for a week, so you were a great distraction.

Have you considered getting a freeze dryer? Black berry powder on vanilla ice cream is wonderful.

Gardening is SO dramatic. It is an absolute miracle that humans have survived by growing our own food.
Definitely crafts 100% of the time! 😂😂

I feel bad for ya pup. My Shih Tzu is on Apoquel too and your right Expensive!

I couldn’t pay attention to you because I kept looking at your paint color and then up at my walls. Any idea what color it is? 😬🤣 clearly, I love it!

Your Halloween bags are amazing. Have you ever considered making Halloween treat bags for the kids to carry?
"a well provided for mouse" - Hee! Oh no, I just got ten 10-gallon grow bags to try and a book on using them. I hope they work out.
Grow bags dry out quicker, since they don't hold moisture as well and are often black, which gets warmer. Water more often and they'll do well.

Oooh! I will check them out!
We had Pac Man at the Pizza Hut and Ms Pac Man at the Mexican restaurant.
I've had terrible luck/results with grow bags too, I'm beginning to get suspicious of all the hype!

I use to work at Empress Chili in White Oak, Cincinnati. They fired me because I asked off for the America concert. 😂😂😊

Hi - I couldn't catch it, who makes that cute kitty stitch marker? Thank you! 😻
@@zsuzsannabeard7840 apologies! It’s a little owl and it’s carved by Tilting Planet.
I can’t grow zucchini either!!
Man, I miss Mamaw and Papaw’s green beans. 🥹 I have one quart left that I’ve kept aside, for what, I have no idea. Something super special.
