p,s. I've watched the Financial Diet over the past few years on and off. It is valuable to watch. Don't kid yourself about the economy - believe what you see when you grocery shop and pay your bills. It's not good. I've been retired for 24 years and the value of my retirement dollars has decreased dramatically. Old people are so easily overlooked. We're not the voters anyone is looking to please Our peak earning years are behind us, we won't be able to give a candidate 30 or 40 years of voting loyalty, and we're mostly ignored when it comes to the cost of living. Thanks for letting me vent here. It's been a hard month of loss and frustration.

You are NOT the only one. Derailment, erosion, life changes. Sometimes it's too much. It's ok to be a hot mess. Let's normalize hot messiness.

Being a woman, over 65, and morbidly obese means that I am never heard by medical professionals. Thanks for sharing the info about muscle strength. As always, I blamed it on my weakness/lack of willpower. Another topic: I am seeing so many people taking hugely expensive multiple vacations - that could explain the recent jump in credit card debt! And thanks for sharing everything today, it's good to know that we are in it together!

I just learned of the book The Backyard Bird Chronicles by Amy Tan. Have you read it? My library ordered a copy when I put in a request after seeing the book at a bookstore (love that about our libraries!). The drawings look exquisite and I can’t wait to read it! Thought you might be interested as well.

I am living proof you can build muscle and be strong post menopause. Everyone is different, but even if it’s taking longer than when I was 58ish, I am returning to my personal record. I’m 67 now, and bench pressing 185 lbs. which is only 20 pounds from my all-time goal. It is possible. Start small, keep at it, pick something. you like/love (I didn’t even know I loved powerlifting until I tried it), do it for you. I feel strong, healthy, happy, and proud. You can do this and you will be glad. Baby steps.

You most definitely are not the only one. Life had been hard lately and a lot to carry around. Couple that with world events and being post-menopausal and then not being heard by my MD for coping strategies or guidance. It's as if we're all a new species that arrived on Earth and our health care system doesn't know what to do with us. I say that as someone who works in healthcare. You just know that if men had to deal with any of our symptoms/ struggles, there would be a fast-track to approving another blue pill to make us happier. Grrrrr.
Thanks for your TED Talk. I truly appreciate learning about building muscle post-menopause.
On a happier note, Happy Belated Birthday. It sounds like you had a good day. Love you XXOO

You always put me in a certain state of mind... like in a really good way, so waaaay not complaining!! I love where my whole person is, when I watch your videos. It's like we aren't even in this time, or place. The world as it is doesn't exist in your podcast time. (When I watch it, I mean.) thank you for your time that you spend putting these together for us. So much appreciated by me for sure❤❤❤ Real life is very hard right now, it is nice to know I'm not the only one who feels that way, it's nice to hear your REAL.

I can recommend Pilates for building bone strength. But you need to find the right teacher, and that is not easy! Endurance just comes from walking, or whatever your chosen exercise is. Rowing machines are good if you have an affordable place to use one. My post-hysterectomy journey is complicated by pretty severe osteoporosis, not fun.

I also have a hard time going places when I don’t know what to expect. I can do it, but it usually makes me anxious. I also struggle going places/sales/stores that aren’t organized. If there’s a lot of stuff and it’s disorganized I become completely overwhelmed and generally leave earlier than I would if it was well organized. This getting overwhelmed thing has definitely gotten worse as I’ve gotten older. 😜

My favorite apple here in Washington state is the Ambrosia. It stays firm and so sweet. Also, have you froze cherries? When you bite them, they are just an easy bite, not hard. I also love to dry things like onions, and I love homemade dried bananas. I hate hard ones they sell.

Post menopause for 20 years now and it is a pure delight! LOL!!! I hope you can read sarcasm. I have in the past few years noticed my strength waning as I deal with chronic pain from a degenerative disk disease. It is very frustrating but it is better than doing nothing because then you are going in one direction only - downhill. Hang in there!!

I hear you on so many levels! Side parts look better on most people because our faces aren’t symmetrical even though our eyes perceive it that way. A center part enhances the asymmetry which we don’t find attractive. A side part embraces the difference and people consequently look more attractive. No part or side part tends to be in style more often for this reason but people like to change trends, so the choice now is being aware of what looks naturally beautiful on an individual or chasing a trend. I’m a Gen X and don’t feel the need to make my hairstyle fit a trend.😊

My mom (who came of age in the 60s) ALWAYS parted my hair down the center. I remember her taking the comb and starting at the tip of my nose to make sure she got it *right in the center* and there were always 2-3 tries to get the part perfectly centered.😂When I started doing my own hair, I moved that part to the side and never went back.
