@@Pill0w686Yep, it isn’t hard to explain its existence without saying “nah they’re just imagined.” The one I use the most is that Walking Wake could’ve existed in the past and is now extinct, and ho-oh could’ve based suicune on Walking Wake when reviving it. That or suicune is a direct descendant, it is implied that the beasts aren’t unique, and it is stated that ho-oh resurrected the beasts rather than transformed them (I think)

    • @bullstrode5875
      @bullstrode5875 ปีที่แล้ว +11

@@MrMoom08 absolutely love this revelation I am now privy too, and I think I have an idea of how the paradox are being made.
The Pokémon are being caught, but it’s catching the Pokémon they are based on, and through a process similar to teraztilization, but with the wishes and dream and knowledge of the professors, are being made into the paradox Pokemon.
Can also be an explanation of some of the version exclusives.
Misdreavus is no where in scarlet, but flutter mane is.
Tyranitar, none in violet, unless it’s iron thorns.
Salamence, only found in violet, but roaring moon is abundant in scarlet.
The exclusives (these ones for now) maybe have been caught by the machine in these variations of paldea, and thus their naturally occurring forms are gone (outside of Pokémon trainer trades) and thus only them as paradoxes exist!
Edit: The books, that’s the answer.
The scarlet/violet books were need for the machine to function.
Violet/scarlet has Pokédex entries from the books for the respective paradox versions. But the opposite ones not found in the game? Tabloid magazines/ish.
No professor in their right might would use magazines as actual Pokédex entries, but the opposite books don’t exist, so the magazine are that are there!
Paradox Pokémon were made by the machine catching the Pokémon the paradoxes are based on, then knowledge from the books changes them into paradox Pokémon.
Waking wake & iron leaves might be a different story but this can explain all main game paradox Pokémon!

More likely, the pattern first came about on Hisuian Voltorb and it's relatives, and other Pokemon with the design are actually mimicking that rather than a PokeBall. Hi, I'm once again here to explain German Pokémon names. This time it's about the Paradox Pokémon in Scarlet. I actually already explained all those names in a comment under another video, but it feels even more relevant here, and back then, Walking Wake and Iron Leaves didn't exist. Also, Lockstin mentioned Brute Bonnet's German name. But I'm getting to that one. But before I start explaining, one more thing: English Paradox Pokémon names are just two words put together and are very unique that way. And the same applies to the German versions, but, as you might know, in German you can just combine two words to make one. So, as an example, "Wutpilz" looks like a typical Pokémon name with several words mixed together or as a pun, but it's actually just the same as in English with two words combined, even though some German words a adjectives or verbs a a bit "adjusted" to better fit with the name. And yes, it sometimes these names sound a bit dumb but overall, I like them. It's definetly an interesting naming appraoch. But without further ado, let's start.
So, first of all, there is Brute Bonnet and, as mentioned, it's named "Wutpilz" in German and, literally translated, it means "Rage Mushroom". (Wut = rage, Pilz = mushroom)
Next up is Scream Tail. And in German we call it "Brüllschweif" and it's pretty close to the englisch Version and means something like "Roar Tail". (brüllen = to roar, Schweif = tail)
Sandy Shocks is named "Sandfell" in German and it means "Sand Fur". (Sand = sand, Fell = fur)
"Flatterhaar" is the German name for "Fluttermane" and, again, it's very close to the English name. and means something like "Flutter Hair". (flattern = to flutter, Haar = Hair)
Next up, there is "Great Tusk" and we call it "Riesenzahn" in German. This means "Giant Tooth". ( riesig = giant, Zahn = tusk). There also is a German word für "Tusk", which is "Stoßzahn". This, once again transalted literally, would mean something like "thrust tooth". Also the letter 'ß' might look like a 'B', but is actually pronounced like an 's'.
Then there is Slither Wing and again, it's German name is close to the English version. We call it "Kriechflügel" and it means "Crawling Wing(s)". (kriechen = to crawl, Flügel = wing(s))
The next Pokémon in our list is "Roaring Moon" and it has probably my favourite German Paradox Pokémon name. We call it "Donnersichel", which literally translated means "Thunder Crescent". (Donner = thunder, Sichel = crescent) This is something that i falsely translated the first time I talked about them in another comment. I named it "Thunder Scythe", but "scythe" rather translates to "Sense".
Last bei not least, Walking Wake. It's German name is "Windewoge" which is the most weird one actually. But it basically means "Winding Wave". (winden = to wind, Woge = wave)
Yeah, that was a lot this time. But anyways, I hope it was interesting and I thank you for reading. Until next time! ^^

    • @colour_fall14
      @colour_fall14 ปีที่แล้ว +11

This is from the international version of the dub. It makes me wonder if the Japanese version was actually more scientifically accurate, with the characters commenting that modern-day sunsets would be more beautiful than those of the ancient times, due to the pollution, and that being the reason why this Pokemon was so mesmerized by it.

One of the things that I like about the paradox mons is how they are contextualized as being basically the cryptids of the pokemon world. The past paradoxs are based on how we saw undiscoverd species like they are some sort of strange monsters or still living dinosours and the future paradoxes are all based on aliens and strange experiments and tech. It makes them feel far more intreasting then just contextualizing them simply being normal pokemons but prehistoic/robot.

Idk if i'm crazy but I always assumed, given the massive time frame in terms of how far back, the tail on Scream tail's head was suppose to look sorta like Mew, just to sorta imply it's a Pokemon super early on in their existence? That's just what I always assumed though

I always liked the Paradox Pokemon. The Scarlet versions were so unique, and honestly, it was a very interesting bit like regional forms.

I seem to remember that they retconned the pokeball thing to say that the inventor of the pokeball liked Amoongus' color pattern and modeled it after them.

There's a new dex entry for Foongus in Scarlet. "There is a theory that the developer of the modern-day Poké Ball really liked Foongus, but this has not been confirmed." Which implies that the appearance for Foongus, and by extension Amoonguss came before the Pokeball. Which would naturally apply to Brute Bonnet, as well. If Brute Bonnet is from the past, that'd pretty much confirm it.

2:38 It's not like scientific names its like cryptid names! Bigfoot. Also Sandy Shocks doesn't have rockstar makeup, its got tribal makeup on, and caveman hair like Sideshow Mel

It's so nice to scroll through the comments section and see how much love the scarlet paradoxes have from fans. They're all really cool and a great new spin, better than the convergent evolutions in my opinion. But I dread seeing the comments for the violet version, as while I do like the robotic aesthetic they were going for I think not everyone shares that appreciation...

As a Violet player I feel like I got almost every short straw paradox pokemon wise. They don’t feel nearly as interesting as the Scarlet equivalents and I feel like the exclusivity of such a huge swath of the game’s roster is a legitimate reason to feel put out tbh. I get that a lot of people express that disappointment badly, but still.

I went to the store with the intention of buying Violet.
But when I got there, there were none.
There were plenty of Scarlet though.
So I said Fk it and went with it.
Lager I found out, Scarlet has better exclusives, and it's theme is the ancient past, which resonate with me more being a student of history.

Foongus or Amoongus, in one of their pokedex entries, said that the original creator of pokeballs liked one of the two pokemon. So the mushrooms may have come first.
Also Oongaboongus is a spectacular name for Brute Bonnet

For Flutter Mane, you could also go with the Manananggal. Since the Philippines was a Spanish colony and is a female vampire like flying torso creature.

About Amoongus/Brute Bonet, I think you forgot another possibility: The current shape of the pokeballs was actualy inspired by the designs of Voltorb and Foongus rather than the other way-round.

2:42 thats what couldve inspired the pokeball we have today. Before you mention the Hisuian Electrode, you should consider that those wouldve been discovered frist before fossils, seeing as fossils werent a factor is Legends Arceus and fossil pokemon just kinda walked around

Lockstin: why the pokéballs they were barely invented by the time of Hisui, so HOW did an ANCIENT mushroom-creature develop the pattern perfectly?
Me: well, that could be more evidence for my theory that the symbol predates the device, so the device was designed to Look like the symbol rather than the symbol becoming iconic because of the design of the device. But we'll see what other theories there could be...
