I am known for having a well-organized home and the main two reasons it stays that way are your last two tips: I put things back where they live every day. And. If I’m going into another area of the house, I carry something with me that goes there. So simple but not easy for a lot of folks❣️❣️
As soon as I find something I want to declutter it goes to my dining room. That seems to be the only central place that I can go through things and box them up. It’s a separate room in my home and as we don’t use our dining room often it works for us. It may look a bit of a mess as I keep empty boxes there as well but unless I’m having company over I really don’t care. It keeps me motivated to declutter.🥰
You are right decluttering is not a one time thing. When we were going to move, I would go around our home and pick up items to declutter. Once when we were in our new home, I would look around and declutter more items. I realized that sometimes a home can have little space or more space than the last home. I have a bag that I know it's my declutter bag that I fill with stuff to donate. Decluttering a home and putting items back where it belongs helps to create a tidy home. Great tips!! Thanks 😊
I keep a container on top of my dryer. Everything to donate goes in it [not just clothing]. I take a load at least once a month whether large or small.
The white bins are very useful for storing pillow cases, towels and kids’ small items. Unfortunately it doesn’t really work in my kids’ room, because we live in NY and need quite a bit heavy winter coats, hoodies, vests etc. Handing bars are must. We have both bars and storage bins. It depends on if you live in hot/warm weather or freezing cold areas. Very nice contents and love it so much!
Your office is so pretty Shannon. The painting and curtain as well as the color you painted below are just perfect! Another great video. Ty from SC.😊💕🏝️😎
I love these organizational habits 1) "A place for everything" : yes! It took me years to get this down, and boy, does it work! Now, it is an ingrained habit & I love it. Shoes by the door (( do)) collect spiders, I can testify to that ;) 2) "Decluttering as a daily intention" : Bam! My favorite thing. A definite game changer. 3) "Storage solutions" : Our example is a storage ottoman the length of a bench. We had sold the matching sofa, but we kept the ottomon. 4) "Labels" : I admit to loving labels & seeing things labeled. Words are the one visual that I enjoy. 5) "Put your things away " : This is my biggest challenge & I continually work to do this.
Hey, Shannon. 🌹I love your warm welcoming home you guys have, and yes, dealing with mail/paper clutter straightaway, is one of the best tips ever. I do that with packaging from shopping, also.
Shannon I love what you did with the boys’ closet.🥰 The space is much more usable and you can store so much. When children are small their clothes are small and don’t take up that much of a closet. This way all of their clothes can fit in one space. Most people wouldn’t want to do this. If you ever decide to move all you need to do is put up the rod again. You’re very lucky that your hubby is a carpenter.🥰🥰🥰
Thank you! I think it's so important to make our homes function for us and not a future person who might buy the house "someday." My husband who works in high end construction said almost everyone who buys a house even if it's a million-dollar home that has been completely redone, ends up ripping out perfectly good things to make it how they want LOL. This really changed the way I think about fixing up a home before it's sold. =)
@@shannontorrens1so true about fixing up for future homeowners. We will be selling next year and it’s not worth doing too much to our home. I’m sure the buyer will have their own ideas. We just have to clean it up a bit and make it presentable😊
I have learned to immediately put things where they go. I am always decluttering thanks to your inspiration! It is so nice to open a cabinet and it’s not crowded! Thank you for such nice video!❤🤗
I feel the same way about labels in living areas. In our wide entry hall closet, I put wicker-like open containers lined up on the shelf above the rod and put labels on the bottom of each container toward the front edge. We can check what goes in them by pulling the container out just a little to see the label.
I always have a bag in our room for anything that I will declutter This is another great video Shannon ❤ Are you going to have an updated home tour? Your house is so lovely ❤ Love your channel Shannon ❤
@@jonareyes3221 Thank you! I was thinking of a home tour, but yesterday I got a comment that my home is ugly 😵💫🙄 so it got me thinking that maybe no one would want to see that…
@@shannontorrens1 Really!!?? Mean trolls are out there, don't listen. Maybe they never learned, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything. Keep on doing what you're doing, and an home tour would be nice.

I found that at a vintage store years ago and I love it. I used to have a lot of vintage coffee pots like that and I got rid of a lot of them and only kept the few I love.
Think it would look cute if the white cube boxes on the top shelf of your boys wardrobe had coloured pictures from Mario and Luigi games stuck on each of them, that is if that is still the theme of their room.❤🙂
Hi Shannon. I'm not much into labeling things either. I personally feel like it looks more cluttered. 😊 Course, if you have kids that need help, that's an exception. I always enjoy your videos!!!
I remember you talking about redoing the kitchen or going to see Grant’s family. Take the trip. But, girl, at least get yourself a dishwasher. You deserve it. ☺️
That is the problem: we have to redo all the pipes to get a dishwasher (it's a long story), but essentially it wouldn't be worth only going halfway on the kitchen. It's an all or nothing thing at this point.
We have a dishwasher but I am not sure it savesthat much time. Plus sometimes we have to pre-wash or re-wash. I wouldn’t get one either if I was in your shoes,
Thanks for your videos. For me, as a European, is strange to sleep with shoes in one room. You walk outside and it seems unhygienic for me to store them in the wardrobe.
All of our shoes are taken off when we enter the house and then we put on house shoes or slippers that are only worn in the house. Most of our guests also take off their shoes. Doing this saves a lot of cleaning up and is more comfortable.
Sorry, I don't have control over this. It's something TH-cam does and there should be an option to turn in on or off. I have CC turned on. =) But the video is in english so I am not sure of the problem...

All great tips, as usual. I learned many years ago to always make the bed. An unmade bed makes the room look messy, it's also good energy.
