- In this video I talk throughout how much I paid for my 80 series Land Cruiser. 1997 was the final year of the 80 series, the 40th anniversary edition and Collectors Edition were both offered. This is a collectors edition here… original MSRP was $49,700 back in 1997, which equates to $94,000 in modern dollars. Did I pay too much? If you’ve ever hunted for a clean 90s Land Cruiser, you know how difficult it can be to find a near perfect example. They all come with a story of some sort it seems. They all have accidents on the record and all have wel over 250K miles. This one had 167K miles, clean carfax, 1 owner, no rust CA vehicle… so I paid for it.
Would you have preferred to have seen a nice 100 series or 60 series instead?

I have a 97 Collectors Edition with Lockers. It's color is moon pearl. It is my dream car. I bought it used with 15,000 miles on it. I now have 219,000 miles on a rebuilt engine. I hope it lasts me forever! I cannot afford a new one! I love the tail gate, have hauled everything from kids, to sod, to kayaks, skis, building material etc. over the years. We take it to the mountains here in Colorado and it is a beast. She is not fast, but she can climb anything. It was fun to see the joy you expressed while making the video of your beautiful Landcruiser. But I agree with some other comments; keep the original wheels, they make the LC more authentic.

Everyone gives you stick for vehicle flipping but this is a keeper and a solid price. Keep it!
I love the OEM wheels. The green carpet is a bit much but it wouldn’t be a deal breaker. Must have come out of the drier part of CA? High desert maybe? No rust at all on a vehicle that old is awesome! I think it’s worth the price.
Great 80 series! I think you did well! I've had 2 FJ60's (I have one for sale on BAT) and 2 LC200's. I've always wanted a FJ80! 1997 is the year to have! Great job!

Looking good! Take a look into dry ice cleaning on the under carriage. You could make it brand new. Obsessed garage has video on it.

I had a 2004 Tundra Limited I bought new. The color was Jade Mica Pearl or something like that. It appears to be the same color as this LC. The 2nd owner is still diving it here in my home town. A local taxidermist. 300k+ miles.

Not sure what the going rate is for these so hard for me to accurately give an opinion if you got a deal or not. I personally wouldn’t have paid that for it. It will be interesting in a month or so, how much you get for it after sinking more money into it. Good luck and enjoy your videos.
I personally think the price is right, she's in really nice shape and she'll last you for many years, if it was me, i'll take out all the dents maybe change the carpet and fix up what ever needs doing and keep it, she's a gem. But I still love my 2016 4runner trail with kdss.

I got my Collector's Edition right before everything went crazy for about $5500. But mine is 3x locked too 😍. No rust as well but your paint is better.
As long you’re happy with your purchase that’s all that matters…it’s a great truck! Got mine for $10K and I estimate that I would be spending to about another $10K to get it in real good shape which includes painting.
Good paint is at least 10k by itself if you have a shop do it. Much cheaper if you do it yourself.
Now time to send it to TLC Jonathan Ward for a makeover lol !!!

I think you did really well. Great paint and no rust. Low mileage. K294 (triple locked) trucks are overrated in my opinion given the age of factory lockers and the fact that they were almost never actuated in 27 years. A new Eaton locker will be far more reliable.
That antenna replacement job is a pain but not too bad.
Those are aftermarket speakers and enclosures.
Be sure to run some weed whacker string through the sunroof drains, gently.

Sorry for my late reply, Joey! I enjoyed both but the Raptor felt like it matched the price tag better. The Tundra felt a bit overpriced for what it was.
Personally I think this thing is amazing
I love it. My favorite Land Cruiser. In South America, this model was given the nickname “Burbuja” which means “The Bubble”. Keep it, and don’t sell it. If you do, let me know.
How does it drive?
Beautiful land cruiser but I would definitely replace the carpet. Takes away from the original feeling and just doesn’t match at all. Overall beautiful suv and the plastics are in great shape.

Nice truck! A bit overpriced I think but as long as you like it who cares, I think the interior is great , execpt for the carpet. Paint looks great! One dealership around vegas. Has one right now 94, with 119k 2 owners, 3xlocked and as clean as they come, lifted, 33s, bumpers,winch,sliders,hi-jack,lotsbof mods, but want 32900.00. Crazy money, before they went crazy i got my 1st 1 for 1400.00 sold it and made a huge profit. Got a 97 with 168k 3xlocked for 6k . So I think i did ok. But yes needed some work. Most with lockers come with some additional “love”… best priced one I’ve found in this type of condition. Don’t take it from me, look around.

Lol 👍 I’ve had people leave notes in my window under my wiper offering mid 20s. So safe to say that’s the going rate for a clean 80. You can buy one for 5-10K all day. It’ll be close to garbage but you can do it. 😉

Yes you can find one for 5k, but you can also find parts for these vehicles that are 5k.
