      I think you gotta write I love mass effect bio the mechs in that game were pretty much just cobbled together for ground Units but I would say titans fall 2 is better than Halo Meachs Because they are specialized and the pilots had pretty much train day one and I don't know if you include his her not let it know you say was that there is a bond that the pilots develop between themselves and the Meach the Meach actually become an extension of who they are Plus they're smart enough to operate by themselves

    As a 40k fan, I do agree that the "Titans" of 40k should be disregarded as completely OP to the rest of the stuff here. But I feel like they were a poor choice for this match-up. Comparing the Titans of 40k to the Titans of Titanfall is like comparing a battletank to a battleship. They are in completely different leagues in terms of scale and usage.
    If 40k was to be included in this match-up, you should have used the smaller scale mechs of the Imperium. Dreadnoughts of the Space Marines, or at most, The Imperial Knights. Either that, or the advanced Battlesuits of the Tau Empire. That way, the 40k universe wouldn't have completely eclipsed the other options out of sheer scale and there would have been much more thoughtful debate as to how they fared with the others in terms of usefulness in their role and tactical flexibility.
    On the topic of the Titanfall Mechs vs Halo mechs, my vote goes to the Titanfall mechs. While they are similar in terms of firepower, and size, Titanfall Mechs have a lot more maneuverability than the Halo Mechs. Plus, given the more myriad versions of Titanfalls mechs, they can be utilized in a number of varied tactics thanks to their exotic weaponry and specialized gadgets. Whereas the mechs of Halo seem to be utilized similarly to a battletank most of the time. While Halo Mechs seem to be more durable than the Titanfall ones, maneuverability and tactical flexibility outclasses durability when two pilots of a high skill rating are pitted against one another. Not to mention, the more cumbersome nature of the Halo Mechs makes it so that, if fighting against the mechs of Titanfall, lets the Titanfall mech have the initiative and decide the terms on which they fight.

    • @montypython5521
      @montypython5521 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Zepyrus-G I would have to disagree on the Halo vs Titanfall because Cyclopses. cyclops are notably more maneuverable than other UNSC mechs comparable to titans not specifically designed for speed and, if you take the Mega Blocks variations into account, can be specialized to fit many a role. Now taking adding the other UNSC mechs I’d say its at least a toss up at most favoring the UNSC

    • @Lazarultos
      @Lazarultos 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@montypython5521 That is a very good point. Cyclops models can stand toe-to-toe agaimst the Titanfall mechs for sure so comparing those two is a 50/50 thing.
      Though, this time in terms of battlefield command, I still feel Titanfall has the advantage given that their factions have incorporated their varied Titans into their military doctrine. Whereas Cyclops is one variant of the UNSC combat mechs. Mantis models for example are inferior to the Titanfall mechs yet are produced as much, if not more widely than the Cyclops. The UNSC utilize the Cyclops as a specialized tool modified for a needed combat role, whereas Titans in Titanfall are central to any large-scale offensive and as such their commanding officers would be able to utilize the Titans more efficiently than the UNSC could deploy the Cyclops.
      But then again this is getting into strategy comparison rather than the vehicle itself so I'll stop myself right here, haha

    What I think is so special about the 40K universe is that 99% of the fighting is done by regular men and women with mere basic armour and a mass-produced standard issue lasgun. You hear all about these titans and space marines and sisters of battle, but ultimately it is these regular normal brave men of the Imperial guard that are the backbone of the Imperium. Regular people like me and you, mass conscripted into the ranks to feed the ever-expanding meat grinder of the 40K universe. These people get no credit, have next to no joy in their lives and know they will never see their home or family again. They fight unspeakable horrors that simply cannot be described. Hordes of deadly aliens and truly incomprehensibly terrifying daemons of the warp on a daily basis, and die in the billions in the process. Yet despite all this, they stand, pick up their weapon, look death in the eye and fight. Not for glory, not for the promise of a better tomorrow, but simply just so the Imperium may carry on just for another day. Only in death does duty end.

Comparing apples to apples, the Tau mechs would have been a better comparison and more similar in size, utility and strength while having a single pilot to control them. You would have also had to choose from Crisis Suits, Stealth Suits, Broadsides, Stormsurge and Riptides. Vanguards had the ability to use any Titan weapon and abilities. It had a regenerating shield and the most advanced AI of any type of Titan, making the Vanguard class the First and so far only self-aware Titan in Titanfall.

And stryders could also move faster, had regenerating shields, and customized loadout. Honestly, if we are going to do a comparison with Titanfall, use Titanfall 1. So, taking the super op titan makes it easy for him to say it's the best and avoiding all that. To be fair to the 40k fans though, I do think they tend to be right about how 40k stuff should have won a lot of previous comparisons but didn't. Eckharts simply isn't as familiar with 40k as he is with other sci-fi universes such as Star Wars or Halo, and while doing his best to compare, his lack of knowledge on 40k showed and skewed results.

The occupants mortally wounded body is wired directly into the exterior sensory suite, and they typically inhabit this new form until killed outright.

      as a Clanner and a fan of BT/MW since the 90s when I was a kid, i have to give a shoutout to the Timber Wolf. One of the most powerful yet well balanced mechs in its universe, fast enough to keep pace with other mechs almost half its size but with enough firepower to probably threaten anything short of a colossal mech.
      I've been thinking of a Timby vs AT AT battle for a while, but I suspect that the Timby would both run rings around and maybe even outgun the AT AT

    • @Belos_Charlie
      @Belos_Charlie 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@sana__6 an AT AT could probably take out a Timber Wolf (or probably even fully armoured Assault Class mechs) in a single shot with the main cannons at full power (Reference: SW Ep 5 ESB destroying the shield generator).
      With that in mind, the AT AT has an *EXTREMELY* limited firing arc, which is a fatal flaw. The firepower of a Timber Wolf could definitely destroy an AT AT. Though I doubt an Alpha Strike would do it in one shot. Probably at least a couple of Alpha Strikes.
      With that in mind, if the Mech Warrior took the Timber Wolf head on with no evasion, he'd likely get smoked. If it were a 1 on 1, he'd be dead. If this was a Lance, then the AT AT would probably kill one, *MAYBE* two (depends on the recharge time for the main weapon at full power - we have no idea, since we only see it used once) mechs before the rest would scatter, surround, flank, and then destroy the AT AT.
      If the Mech Warrior knew what he was getting into ahead of time, and could approach from the rear or ambush the AT AT, then yeah I think a single Timber Wolf could easily kill an AT AT - as long as he knew to stay in the flanks.

      We know that the AT AT has a lot of forward facing firepower, but lacks maneuverability and firing arcs. They're also super slow.
      Dire Wolves are too vulnerable to a frontal assault from AT AT's. They would basically trade blows, and sure a star of Dire Wolves might actually win against the 3 (or so) AT AT's we saw in ESB, but they would take heavy losses. I'd suspect that at least 3 Dire Wolves would get destroyed.
      Now, a Star of Timber Wolves, on the other hand, are quite a bit faster. They can flank the AT AT's and unleash their firepower unharassed.
      If we have to also deal with the supporting Imperial forces (AT ST's and infantry), then things get more muddled for the Clan forces, unless they too have supporting forces.

Titans fill both specialized roles and are flexible enough to fill a more unconventional role. Not only that but since there is a neural link between pilot and titan, the titan will move and act alot faster and more fluidly than any Mantis. I personally feel imperial knights are closer to the scale and power of what the other universes can field, I feel in cases like these its logical to compare kind to kind comparting an imperator vs a titanfall mech feels like comparing the strength of a star destroyer to a CR90 corvette, I personally still think 40k would win if you had chosen to exclude the titan class mechs and only considered imperial knights but I do see arguments for why the titanfall or halo mechs could take it down, also something to consider is how large a formation hey usually get deployed in, titanfall is usually 6 v 6 if i recall so that would be a lance of 6, halo I have no idea on, mass effect again falls behind with its single mech lances and 40k usually only fields 3 knights per lance, and in a 2 v 1 scenario between titanfall mechs and an imperial knight I'm not sure who would win personally

    Should W40k have been the titans? I feel Imperial Knights would have been more on par with the rest of the candidates on this list. Most Imperial Knights were piloted by a single individual. They carried large amounts of firepower, close quarters weapons, and shields on some occasions, but were only a few stories tall. Titans on the other hand, were almost never piloted by one person and are more akin to large walking weapons platforms than the mechs of Titanfall who share the same name. Titans were also very rare to see on the battlefield compared to the other factions. They're considered a highly valuable military and religious resource and would only be deployed if absolutely necessary. Emperor class titans are so rare because the Imperium doesn't actually know how to make them anymore. Knights were smaller, and more readily available with innumerable worlds being solely dedicated to knightly houses or the mechanicum that builds and maintains them.

      The most important part is not how rare they are, but how difficult it is to pilot them, usually multiple "pilots" are trained and die one after the other trying to control the Titan, having to be one and stable with the spirit of the machine... which is hard since it's forgotten technology.

    A better comparison would be either Dreadnoughts/Helbrutes from the Imperium or Chaos respectively or even the T'au XV8 Crisis battle suit. These are more generic and single-manned vehicles which are more in line with more common sci-fi mech type units. That being said, I think that the Dreadnought might lose to a Titanfall titan depending on the armour penetration capabilities of it's weapon. The XV-8 Crisis suit would still top the list, having better firepower and mobility than a Titanfall titan.

      For Battletech, we just have to nominate the Timberwolf/Mad Cat. Mobility like a mech 25 tons lighter, firepower like another 25 tons heavier, maximum armor for its weight class. Add in the flexibility of Clan Omni technology, and you have a "jack of all trades" death machine that is exceptional by basically every metric relevant to combat.
      Its only real weakness to speak of is its high price, the economics and logistics of using and supporting such a machine.

      Dr_President9 agreed.
      40k normally stomps everything, but the forerunners have such mastery of time, space and reality that it all becomes a moot point that their opponent out numbers them and can summon daemons.
      The only chances the 40k universe have would be the direct intervention of the most Powerful Warp entities such as The Emperor and the Chaos gods, or the weird time travel shannanigans from Orikan the Diviner.
      Even then, the Warp entities are much like the Flood. Without sentient beings to feed their power they become nothing, so a Halo activation would possibly stop even them.
      I would give it 7/10 to the Forerunners.
