The newly updated, iconic Linn Sondek LP12-50 marks Linn’s 50th Anniversary - co-designed by Jony Ive and LoveFrom - manufactured in Glasgow, Scotland.
I love my 1989 black ash LP12. With a Lingo mk1, Ittok, Troika, Cirkus and Trampolinn, it is basically a perfect LP12 from the era when it was at its peak and still good value for money. If I was to buy a new turntable, it would be direct drive and probably a Technics.
Had a few belt drives including a LP12 . Purchased a Technics 1210 G last year never going back to belt drives.

Beloved Linn LP12 have played for me last 20 years.
I really happy with great sound and I will accompany with her eternally.
One thing, align the counter weight to balance zero is very difficult due to its sticky. I recommed you to change this sticky way to THREAD way. Thread moving way will be more precise and easy.
Love my LP12, saving for my Ekos. Would love this deck and I know the tech will filter down the range. By the way £50k is by no means the most one could pay for a turntable.
but it is a little ridiculous right? Are your ears really that good to tell the $58,000.00 difference between this Lynn and a $2000.00 table?
@@TrueAudio My hearing isn’t any better than yours, in fact at my age I’m willing to bet it isn’t as good 😊. However, if you visit a Linn dealer and ask them to demo each model in their range, and granted it is hard to tell them apart, I guarantee you will hear a difference. My wife is not an equipment enthusiast but can tell every time I make a change to my system.
If I had £50k to spend on a turntable, it wouldn't be on a copy of a Thorens TD150. I wonder what the LP12 would look like, or if it would even exist, if Thorens made washing machines instead of turntables. Just a thought.
this is probably only worth $2-3k of real parts & labour - the other $58,000 is for their research and their happy anniversary

Now you have completely lost your grip. The most inflated Tp 150 ever! And now with a solid wooden frame in a special offer. Keep it up, I'm out and will now spend my money on hi-fi on brands where the value is still halfway right.

🤦🏻♂️ Worth is personal - depends on how wealthy you are and how much perceived benefit you get from spending £50k. If spending £50k doesn’t have any impact on your prior or future spending whatsoever and you get great joy from listening to something this high end & use it a lot, it’s almost certainly worth it. If, however, you live on bread and cheese for 5 years to afford it and your wife leaves you because of it, yet you don’t listen to it a lot and/or don’t personally hear a big difference, it won’t be worth it. I’d suggest that anyone spending £50k on a turntable is probably much nearer to the former category than the latter… 😂
@@JamboLinnman It's vinyl! Get a bit of dust or a scratch on the record and it's there forever. Handle it with kid gloves and a surgical mask. Try to back it up. Not to mention crappy dynamic range. 50,000 pounds just for the turntable?! This is a joke thing.

I saw recently on Grand Designs, a guy installed a real turntable for his car, as he had limited space: it cost him 12 grand!!

The UK has serious social issues: mass poverty and starving children...yet it seems to have people who casually think that spending this id of cash on a friggin' turntable ...is reasonable?
