    I think the "gap " is called a wire stripper. Not used for cutting. Only stripping.

      Move the wire up a little. It will cut it fine. However there really should not be a grap.

    On another video the blade broke unexpectedly when cutting coat hanger wire right where that gap is. The important thing to note there is - even if this is meant to be a stripper as some have said - it is easy to accidentally break the blade.
    I have cheap wire cutters that have a similar gap. They've lasted 40 years, even abused cutting HT fencing wire, and they're still intact.

  • @DNMEBOY
    @DNMEBOY 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +30

    If mine break, I’ll just swap them for the older style cutters. It’s a disposable part so I wouldn’t call it a ‘fatal’ flaw. I watched a video last night where the guy cut coat hangers again and again without issue. He also didn’t put them into the gap. It’s a pretty simple issue to resolve, and I’m sure leatherman will replace them.

    Knipex do 2 versions of pliers. One with that gap, one without. It's useful when cutting that it cuts without the end flying away. I had to cut 400 decking screws and was glad I could cut then pull off the end rather than having 400 screw heads to find so they didn't end up in the kids feet.

    I don’t know. The Charge+ Ti has the same little gap, and it seems to me it’s meant to be a wire stripper (for better or worse). My Charge+ Ti still cuts like a beast, as long as the wire is centered on the cutters. It just is a bit annoying to take the time to line the wire up on the cutters, rather than being able to just push the wire all the way to the back of the pliers blindly. To each their own, but I believe a poor excuse for wire strippers is what Leatherman had intended with the gap. That’s just my guess.

    to cut you don't need to use the wire stripper slot... to cut you need to move forward with the object considering that the tools are designed for different uses, and it's obvious that they cannot have the same robustness... in the ARC the blades are replaceable ...I think it always depends a lot on the hand that uses the instrument...
    Sometimes the introduction of a new model on the market hurts the ego of some, but we must be aware that even if new models come out they are always exceptional instruments

      @inkiron3907 I have a Knifeless Rebar, for jobs where buildings have knife regulations and a Orange G10 Charge. The Charge I got for $120, when it was being discontinued. I was hoping this would be my 1st free system multitool, but I am going to wait. I am not even sure if the frame can handle what my Rebar and Charge are able to do, since people are saying it's more of a lite to medium duty tool. A Surge would be nice, but cops have been enforcing the 3 inch blade laws and taking away some knives under 3 inches. That's why I picked up the Knifeless Rebar but I do carry my Charge at times. The Surge's knife is a little over 3 inches, sadly. 😞
      All the shootings going on is making stuff worse in my area. It doesn't help that county police is a quarter mile away from my home, which always pulls over random drivers, even if not speeding. Thanks for your response and the awesome advice. 😀

    I’m sure some of them will still cut wire here and there, but I agree with your point in the video. Leatherman should’ve done testing and should’ve fixed that gap, instead they’re trying to pocket money from people for a flawed tool? Absolute ridiculous I hope they don’t sell any of the damn things until they start doing things correctly.

    All the geniuses saying the needle nose is pinching the coat hanger... Yeah if you have something in the jaw of the cutter, the tip of the pliers physically can't close enough to pinch.

    I bought a Free K2 and the blade got extremely dull after 2 days of light use. All I did with it was cut weed eater cord. It does not hold an edge worth a fuck. I’ll never buy a Leatherman again after that. It was a complete waste of $110.
