I came to Alaska from Alabama because of some of the reasons listed here. I came for a job but I liked the less insects, no snakes, and cooler temperatures than Alabama. I left Alabama in October with 80+ temps and had my first Alaskan snow two weeks later and the snow is still here. 😄 A 40 degree is so much warmer to me than when it’s in the 20’s. I do miss the longer days of sunlight but it makes me appreciate the beautiful sun on my lunch hour. It made me giddy last week from being in the sun for an hour. Since my accent is a giveaway I’m not from around here it’s opened the door for great conversations with people. Everyone has been kind and welcoming face to face. They don’t care for my slower driver in the snow even in the right lane. I just wave as they throw slush on me as they pass me going 50mph for 500 feet before the red light catches us. 🤭

Recently moved to the Kenai Peninsula from Missouri. No regrets for us. We love it up here!

Great video Jamin. 😊. I had a snake greet me on my deck as I let our dog out. You never get used of those things. Absolutely can’t stand them!

Only scenery in TX I ever seen was the bats coming out of the bridge in Austin.

There is pros and cons in every state it is just what people are looking for if they decide to move. There is a tradeoff warm year-round versus minimal warm and then cold and ice. You talk about snakes in Texas at least they give warning, but a grizzly bear does not give that out. I truly think if people want to move to Alaska is visit Alaska in the summer and winter to get the feel of the layout. Then if they feel it is a good fit so, be it. Blessings

Lol I order Door Dash a lot and nobody can seem to open the door to my building. I was standing at the door and told my wife "Whats up with Alaskans not knowing how to open doors?" The driver heard me and said "I'm from Texas." I said "that doesn't make it better!". Lol

    TPDR... NO, you shouldn't.
It's hard, its cold, it's brutal, it's expensive, youll be alone. Stay in the lower 48 where your safe, and life is easy.
