I actually drove to Aldi's just to buy these based on your recommendation in this review! Absolutely spot on mate. One thing I did think was that if you are a single parent and are looking for. cheap, but good meal that you could enjoy making together with your kids, this would be it.
Finally. A kit that's not just just a box of wraps and seasoning. Farmfoods do a packet of chicken shawarma that's nice. For some reason the pork reminded me of it 🤷. It's about £3 or so and it's scrappy bits like the pork was in this but it makes for a nice quick kebab. I'm not a fan of the crucials sauces at the moment as they've put wheat in a lot of them for no reason what so ever when they used to be gluten free. Farmfoods also do some great sauces especially a kebab House chilli and mint one. Cheers Gaz.

Farmfoods Doner meat - 1 min in the micro (turn and mix after 30 secs - 1 kebabs worth approx) great stuff. You can walm/ cook through under a medium heat if you preferusing a frying pan. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. PS Its 'Hear' - 'Ross' its definitely a H at the beginning.
I like that stuff, and its easy to make a white cabbage salad, marinated in olive oil, mint and lemon as well, I do a tub for the fridge..The frozen chicken shawarma style is not too bad also for a quick snack after the pub!
Great review will definitely be trying these. Also added Crucials hot sauce to my shopping list! I use alot of the Crucials Yoghurt and mint sauce fantastic taste!

Hi Gaz, the traditional gyros is with tzatziki, tomato and onions. Definitely not cucumber, lettuce or any sauces, especially a spicy one. About 20-25 years ago, the greeks have also started putting french fries in them to stuff them even more, I like them but at the same time the flavor of the meat and the tzatziki is better without the fries.
Tomato, cucumber, onion, lettuce - four of your five a day! The baby leaf salad makes it about ten of your five a day! You can eat all the non-fruit items you can have tomorrow - you have had tomorrow’s fruit and vegetables today! Giros are what you used to collect from the labour exchange! Even I’m not old enough to remember it being called that! The Department of Stealth & Total Obscurity!
I moved back from the West Coast to the UK late last year. Food in Cali was easily 2-4 times what it costs in the UK at the supermarkets. After listening to friends a relatives complain about inflation for the previous few years, I was pleasantly surprised that the UK is still fairly cheap for food compared to the rest of the west
probably import costs as these are produced in the UK or Europe and then Aldi, which is a German company ships them to the USA and other countries. But the US does tend to be quite a bit more expensive for food than the UK
@@botfap the problem is here in the UK we've had it far too cheap for too long. So consumers have got used to the cheap prices. Now they've gone up people only think of the cheap cheap prices. But the prices are still not too bad. Especially compared to some other countries. I suppose it's all relative to income though.

But you are correct that it is all relative to income yes. I was earning $185k/£140k in LA and I was worse off in terms of disposable income than I am back in the north of England on $85k/£65k
Crucials are a Home Bargain deal. They do Tomato sauce too. Cheap and , I think, adequate and not a rip off like Heinz. You do enjoy your food. That makes it so interesting. Not something that I would try though a bit too manufactured.
Although I do use flatbread quite often for other foods, I do like my Gyros in a pita bread or just on a plate. The Gyros in Germany was amazing. For those who have eaten from a "Schnell Imbiss" will know the difference between a 'Donner 'Kebab' and a Gyros. With my Gyros I would get some lemon sauce, salad and tzatziki on top. Heaven on a plate. As I couldn't find a Kebab House that sold proper Gyros? I now have the Gyros herbs sent from Germany once a year so I can make my own, when I feel nostalgic. Not quite 100% the same, but not far off. 👌👌. I might give these a go, although at first glance I thought the flatbread was a waffle.

Sometimes I had it with a mushroom sauce and it was delish. But a straight up Gyros with chips and salad was the best. Many years ago my neighbour, who was stationed in Minden at the same time I was, did a road trip. We looked up our old haunts, some were gone but some were still there. When we got to Celle my old Army Quarter looked just like we left it. The best bit was that the Schnelly was still there and I had a proper Gyros. If I had the money to afford it? I would go again just for that.
Gareth, I saw these in Aldi a couple of days ago. Unfortunately was in for non perishable shoping, and had to stop off on the way home, so couldn't get any. Will defo next time though! Not wishing to brag, but myself and wife have recently got back from a week in Corfu, and the hotel buffet had these on the 1st night. Bloody lovely! Unfortunately, being a decent hotel, they changed the entire dinner buffet selection nightly, and I never saw them again that week! Oh well, 1st world problems and all that! Hi gaz , and all fellow foodies. Tonight Friday I followed Gareths idea and bought the pork gyros kit. Yeah I followed the cooking instructions , what with the cooking and prep for dinner of other ingredients . Also the missus on chardonnay. I thought the best idea was to give myself a fighting chance and knock back a few ( the best god damn cider ) Henry Weston Vintage 8.2 % the best of the best easy. If anyone knows a better cider please post here, I've tried loads of ciders and Henry weson vintage to Me tops all I've tasted. Anyway back to my issue (mistake lol) While cooking everything and the missus and myself on wine and cider . The pork got slightly slightly over cooked ( more like frazzled lol). The rest was pretty good along with chips , beer battered onion rings etc and mushrooms, I kinda messed it up.
I tried this last night,I fried the pork ,the bread was amazing and the pork was crazy good ,one of the better meals I have had from Aldi ,will have this again , happy holidays Gareth 🙏

Can't beat something like that from a butchers type place. £3.90 too. Kicks the sh*t out of something from say subway that would be twice the price with a poor excuse for steak. More like dog food.
Yeah it’s delicious mouthwatering they are really popular Steak baguettes slightly very small hint of pepper too on the steak wrapped in tin foil for freshness they also do a Delicious Steak Burger 4 oz patty, monterey jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, mayo and relish on a brioche bun £3.50 my mouths watering 🤭

always a good idea to wash the cucumber, spinach and especially the tomatoes before using just to remove any chemicals and dirt. I'm sure it says that on the packaging but most people don't read that so I'm sure you won't die from it. 😂
you mentioning cous cous reminds me to ask if youve ever considered reviewing the ainsley harriot packet ones as a snack review you can get them in asda and morrisons they are very easy to make filling and delicious
I love the gyros Gareth , great food but one thing that missi g out that ingredients list is cinnamon , an important ingredient . Up here in Glasgow a man Tassos opened a small gyro wagon called MacTassos , on some surveys it's now Glasgow's most popular fast food wagon including ' Trip Advisor ' , he now has a shop city centre and new wagon other end of city , business is booming , Tassos knows what he is doing . Aldi is a store i`m never in but, after watching this, i think i`ll pop into one sometime and get this product. One of them would do me i think and save the other one for the next day. They look so tasty too.
The best way to heat pitta breads or naans is to wet them under a tap of cold water, shake off excess water before heating them in the oven at a low temperature, this way the pitta breads/naans remain supple; otherwise they become crunchy and brittle.

Quick heads up, thought you might be interested. I went to my local Aldi today and they were doing A5 Wagyu steaks from "the land of the samurai". Couldn't believe it at first but cost £22 which is bloody good for Wagyu. Worth a try if you fancy a bitta betta steak
I do like those flatbreads, they are really nice and soft, much preferable to normal bread since I dont eat a lot of bread...find it bloats me out too much.
Look great and they would be about £10 in a takeaway ,love your vids however dont know how big the supermarkets are where you are, but all the new stuff you find I can never find any of it where I live its gutting 😪 I did find the heck meat balls in the massive stockport Tesco's
They certainly looked fantastic I wasn’t surprised to hear you say they were as good as they. Looked. I must see if I can get my wife to look out for them. Until I watched this, I alway thought a gyro was a cheque or draft, which you could cash at Post Office, although that might have been spelt giro - I haven’t come across the term recently, because everything has trended to electronic means.
Had one couple weeks ago it was the chicken version cooked it in the oven (Meat and bread) made a massive burger added the garlic sauce also brought Sriracha sauce while in there added that aswell lovey jubby

If you slice the tomato and plant the slice covered with about 3cm compost you will get lots of baby plants.

Quick heads up, thought you might be interested. I went to my local Aldi today and they were doing A5 Wagyu steaks from "the land of the samurai". Couldn't believe it at first but cost £22 which is bloody good for Wagyu. Worth a try if you fancy a bitta betta steak

I do like those flatbreads, they are really nice and soft, much preferable to normal bread since I dont eat a lot of bread...find it bloats me out too much.

They certainly looked fantastic I wasn’t surprised to hear you say they were as good as they. Looked. I must see if I can get my wife to look out for them. Until I watched this, I alway thought a gyro was a cheque or draft, which you could cash at Post Office, although that might have been spelt giro - I haven’t come across the term recently, because everything has trended to electronic means.

Top tip, the best way to open a sachet is to rip or cut a tiny corner then you can squeeze out evenly with direction.

Had one couple weeks ago it was the chicken version cooked it in the oven (Meat and bread) made a massive burger added the garlic sauce also brought Sriracha sauce while in there added that aswell lovey jubby

You need to put a knife down the edge of the flatbread to make a 'pocket' to put the filling in, a bit like a DIY tab system
