I absolutely agree with you mate most people would use it to protect the playing cue, i personally use one of my old cues with 8.5ml tip and weighs 10.7 ounces i get really good splits with it, so it all goes back to clean hit of the cue ball and timing just as you said mate keep up the good lessons mate
I have a break cue, and yes, I use it to protect my playing tip as I play with a soft tip that gets hard way to quickly if breaking all the time with it. So, I have a larger and harder tip for breaking. It makes good sense for me
It's not scientific, but I reckon at least 50% of tip wear has been saved by using a break cue. I use a 1/2 inch break cue & rarely miss-cue or impart unintentional side spin. My break though, is still far from perfect. 'spose I better keep practicing...
Excellent as always Mick. These things also helped my break: 1. Using a 9Ball Cue gives me better control and power. 2. Focus on Cue Ball last as you strike. 3. Stand up slightly and start to lean the body forward on contact with the Cue Ball. 4. Like a punch, hit through the front ball. 5. The priority is not scratching, so focus purely on drawing the Cue Ball back down the centre of the table. 😁
strange.... I just bought a breaking cue yesterday lol.. not because I think it'll make my breaks amazing but because I'm terrified every time I break with my playing cue and using the light pub cues with barely any tip started to annoy me
@@MichaelScerri147 here’s hoping. Watching your older videos i do notice I struggle with returning the cue ball straight back, I switched to cut break for a while and I was making very good breaks multiple golden breaks in a session but I’ve forgotten all my technique for it and just slide off the pack constantly so now my front ball and cut breaks are struggling 😂
@@MichaelScerri147 That's actually very useful Michael. Many thanks for taking the time to reply so promptly. Is that the same cloth as used in tournaments?
The problem that I currently have is that I have a table at home with a napped cloth. The League tables in the UK in the Pubs all have speed cloth, most are pale blue so I'm assuming they would be Strachan 861 which is 430gsm. The Tournaments that I see on youtube have grey cloth so they cant be Strachan 861, but possibly superfine (390gsm) like yours as 861 is only available in pale blue. The difference in speed between my table and the league tables is night and day, it's like playing a different game. Naturally I am looking to change the cloth on my table. Could you make a video on how to transition from a napped cloth to a worsted cloth. I can't slow the cue ball down and control it at all when I play my league games. So a video on how to play everything slower without decelerating the cue and affecting the cue stroke would be of interest.

Breaking cue .. yawn …. For the cost of a new tip every few months , doesn’t justify having to buy a new case to carry a second cue , let alone the cost of of a second cue
I have one case for both and for the sake of $300 for my 9 ball cue / break cue it’s worth every cent to me because the value of my playing cue (to me) is about 20k.
My case holds 2 butts and 4 shafts anyway and spending £20+ on a tip I don't want to be changing it every few months. If you're using cheap tips then I guess it doesn't matter but a Kamui Super Soft tip would mushroom pretty quickly.
I use a house cue to break with.
What ever works mate 👌🏼

Yeah thanks mate protecting your main cue is very important also. 👌🏼

Couldn’t agree more nice mate 👌🏼🎱
Makes sense. Get a 9 ball cue, doubles as a break cue. Win win
Another awesome video
Thanks legend
Awesome - thnks mate
Anytime 😊

By having your own break cue you will get more familiar with it and your brakes will get more consistent overtime.

Hi Michael, very much enjoying the videos. Love your work mate. What cloth do you use on your table?
Hey mate thank you for the kind feedback I think it’s called supreme super fine sorry I can’t be more helpful 👍

What a great white ball at the end 😮
Yep, practice practice practice
If you need more than one cue stick, then you don‘t know how to play …
👍
But your breaking cue should at least be same weight and tip size as your cue for potting
Cheating using bigger tip and heavier cue for breaking
Basically, if you’re using a different cue to break with it’s entirely up to you what you want it to be.
@@mrg5758 I remember people telling me using the rest was cheating, never heard of this one ;)
