Ok so some things said in this video have inspired me to leave a bigger, deeper comment. And words of comfort/encouragement. YES YES YES YES FINISH GTA IV ITS MY FAVORITE GAME EVER YES YES YES Please pleeeeeease look up “how to summon Solaire in gargoyle fight” IT WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE, also they hate lighting and you can cut their tails :))) oh and zweihander is your friend. Trust me, I called him last night, he just wants to talk to you. Don’t let the little guy down :( If this makes you feel any better, I’ve beaten three full length rpgs in one month. One of them was even a 100h long. I’m not saying you should do this, I’m just giving hope.
Great video, another thing I find can help, if you havent finished a game for a long time, pick up a short 3 - 4 hour game and finish that, the act of finishing a game will remind you how good it feels
Honestly I didn’t even think of that but it makes sense! I think I’ve done that without knowing😂 Sometimes when I’m in the middle of a long game I play a short refresher game to switch up the pace and get me excited to come back to the other game. Sometimes a break can make me miss a game again! Thanks for the comment and compliment!
The stat about only 10-20% of gamers finishing their games blew my mind! I’m definitely within that range as I have been steadily working my way through my backlog for the past year. I didn’t realize so many gamers didn’t finish their games.
Liked the video dude. I’ve recently been tackling my backlog since I quit smokin and drinkin and it’s been a great outlet. So I relate to the association aspect of the video. For me another krab’s treasure has a strong association with turning a new leaf as well as sea of stars. I 100% both. Also didn’t realize how low the view count was until I finished the video. Definitely deserve more views. Lookin forward to more content. 👍
I finish most games I start. I usually have 3 or 4 on rotation at the same time so that I don't get burned out on one and have several genres on the go to suit different moods and energy levels. It also means I'm rarely thinking about the games I haven't gotten around to yet because I'm making progress in several at once.
That’s good to hear! And yeah I’ve done 3 or 4 at once before but that’s usually my limit and where I start to get distracted between games and figured it out. It really depends on the length. Long games obviously have more room to get distracted during than short games, but short games are the ones I usually forget about later on and have to revisit
i feel the opposite, NOT telling people is better for me, my friends easily can ruin the mood, especially when i talk about a game they are not interested in
Hey like I’ve told other people on here, different things work for different people. That is interesting but if that works for you then by all means keep doing it!
For me the 3-hour rule didn't really work since I play a lot of story-driven RPGs where sometimes the first 3 hours are literally only story. So I set a 10-hour rule for me. And I love going in games as blind as I possibly can. Basically only thing I like to look up about the game is genre. "Oh, it's an RPG? I like RPGs." "Oh, that artstyle looks cool, I'll give it a shot." Probably part of the problem why I have bought so many games that I haven't even touched yet. ^^"
Yeah I can understand this. I have a lot of purchased games that haven’t been beaten much less touched. And the 10 hour rule makes sense for RPG’s. Those require more time devoted to them. Thank you for the comment! Hope you liked the video!
😂You’re the only channel I have notifications set for so i always forget the notifications system exists at all until I see your uploads (crazier part is that even with one channel, the notifications don’t always work 😅) Mother is a series I always wanted to get into. I was told I’d love it as a fan of both undertale and dragon quest, but it surprisingly still doesn’t grab. Maybe one day. 😅 Edit: my one issue is when I have a game I make 90% progress into then drop. I still don’t know why I do that…
Yeah I haven’t gotten into Mother as a series, but some of the first TH-camrs I ever watched that inspired me were big fans so I tried out Earthbound (Mother 2). And yeah I’ve done that a couple times. You get so close to the finish line but get lured away…
Funny enough the last game I finished was dark souls 1. Gave up trying to play it a few times. Always wanted to beat it so I gave it another try. Your goals are always possible!
I appreciate that! It’s one of my goals to play though every soulsborne game! I played 3 and absolutely loved the adrenaline you get after every boss! Just gotta beat those dang gargoyles😂
I think we have a harder time finishing games because of maturity. We’re getting older and our tastes change. Games were more appealing when we were kids, and they are more appealing to kids today. Although I will say I had way fewer games back then as I do now.
I'm the type of person who easily gets get distracted by other games, so i have so many games i've only played 0-1 session in. I want to get better at it.
That’s very relatable! It happens sometimes and it’s difficult but maybe just focus on doing like two games at a time to give yourself some wiggle room?
It do be like that sometimes. You could come back a few years down the road if the games still interest you. Your taste, skills and patience have probably changed. It'll be another experience by then.
@Woupsme 100%. Not to mention if I come back to a game after an extended time away, I usually have to start over because I forgot the story or what I was doing in the game. It’s like spawning into someone else’s life midway through lol
i mean good video but for me its as simple as tired of doing the same thing over and over. If you get tired of the combat in Elden Ring, theres nothing else you can do in the game. so you quit it
Thanks for the comment! And yeah I agree it is a pretty simple concept on the surface of it, but I think for some people there are reasons they can’t explain or don’t expect to quit a game for
I had AI organize my backlog for maximum fun throughout. If I found myself procrastinating the next game, I'd just skip it. If a game I was playing wasn't clicking with me, I'd skip it too. I'd rather knock off 10 games I'm looking forward to rather than force myself to not enjoy my time. After all, video games are for fun 😊
@NoggTV No need to learn, just use AI and chill 😂 Shout out the creator! Any chance you can hit me with your top 10 games? I'm trying to make sure I play everything amazing. I can give you mine as well lol
The idea is that you’re spending less time on games you don’t like in order to use that effort and energy on games you do like and to finish those. Life is too short to waste on games you don’t like. Over time you refine your taste and learn what you like and don’t like. Pretty simple concept
@@NoggTV In my experience every single game stops being fun at one point or another for all sorts of reasons. If I gave up on them just because of that, I'd never finish anything. In fact, when I was a kid my philosophy was very similar to what you describe, and that was the direct result. I got nothing done. I was too busy chasing dopamine highs to care about focusing on finishing what I started. It wasn't until I learned to ignore that when I started to actually make progress on my backlog.
@ShurueViridian that’s very possible but everyone games differently. What worked for you may not work for everyone. I’ve played TONS of games that I started to not enjoy, but pushed through because friends told me they’re “slow parts of the game” or “you’ll be glad you finished it” and I did not ever enjoy that game anymore. It’s just advice not forcing anyone to take it. If you want to keep playing you can, I’m not telling people they HAVE to quit, but I’m not going to tell them they HAVE to keep playing games they don’t enjoy. Personally one of the most helpful things I’ve done is abandon games I was only playing because others wanted me to or because I was told I should play them

Yeah I was too! I was expecting it to be closer to 50/50 but I guess finishing games is much more common than anticipated!

Congrats on that progress! Keep going strong!
Usually I quit a game when I get stuck (I.e.: that tiny little stairway entrance in the Sleeping Forest from Final Fantasy 7)
Yeah that makes sense!

I'm in ten-twenty% of people. I can't stand having an unfinished game
Very respectable. Happens all too often for me even tho I try not to!

That’s also true! I think it depends on the game as many games are marketed towards adults but yeah it kinda varies!
I'm the type of person who easily gets get distracted by other games, so i have so many games i've only played 0-1 session in. I want to get better at it.
That’s very relatable! It happens sometimes and it’s difficult but maybe just focus on doing like two games at a time to give yourself some wiggle room?
Gotta love that SpongeBob music 🎶
Absolutely! I always be sure to throw in music from my favorite games!
So glad someone picked up on it! Bonus points for you!
I don't finish some games because they are too hard....
That’s fair! If a game is too hard there are lots of other games worth trying out!
It do be like that sometimes.
You could come back a few years down the road if the games still interest you. Your taste, skills and patience have probably changed. It'll be another experience by then.

I just stopped playing Horizon Zero Dawn because everything felt boring
That’s fair lol, I’ve never tried the horizon games because they just look too big and not like something that would hold my interest
I had AI organize my backlog for maximum fun throughout. If I found myself procrastinating the next game, I'd just skip it. If a game I was playing wasn't clicking with me, I'd skip it too. Yo that’s actually kinda sick I need to learn how to do that!

Yeah for sure! Any criteria? Like top 10 overall? Modern? Retro? Certain genres? I got so many I can name😂
I dig this idea. Did you just put the list into ChatGPT?
@garboy13 that’s what I imagine. I’m gonna look into it
Bailing on a game because you're not having fun with it sounds like a very effective way to not finish more games.
The idea is that you’re spending less time on games you don’t like in order to use that effort and energy on games you do like and to finish those. Life is too short to waste on games you don’t like. Over time you refine your taste and learn what you like and don’t like. Pretty simple concept
