I applaud Traxxas for making some decent improvements to the truck and most importantly, getting a brushless system price-wise more inline with the other manufacturers. Just wish they had updated the shocks!
I'm impressed they added the MAXX axle extreme HD upgrades to these models. In my experience the axles and hubs break far more often than the shocks do. Aluminum caps on the stock shocks is really all they need for extra durability, and the stock shocks are spring tuned better than GTR shocks are IMO.
@netcruzer Agree 100%. I dont know why ppl complain about the ultra shocks. Aluminium caps is all thats needed against the only flaw they have: cap popping.
Function wise they work awesome!!!
And the other improved parts look awesome too, indeed!
@@netcruzer yeah the old knuckles were a little weak, but I didn’t have much issues with the rest of it. I found the shock shafts pretty poor unless you upgraded to TiNi versions. GTR shocks are nice because there are a couple of piston sizes and Tekno 13mm springs fit, so a lot of tuneability.
These shocks feel amazing
They should just do the vxl3s truck for 359 and call it a day
Greg, I admire how you can get such an information-dense video out AND with so much running footage and still keep the total runtime to single digit minutes. You're a pro, of course - I'm just saying it shows and I'm a fan. Kudos!
Thank you!
Getting the Stampede once it's out, a very good move by Traxxas! Entertaining video as always!
I have so many TSM radios I added one to this RIg it just gets better the customer service is amazing for traxxas
Great run down as usual 💯 I think that's gonna be a reliable system...plus the heavy duty parts on an already tough truck, can't go wrong racing or bashing or just having some fun in the yard!!!!
I just ordered my first traxxas slash today it arrives Friday
You really can't beat Traxxas for an out of the box do everything vehicle. All ages of people can enjoy our hobby and that makes our hobby that much better.
Looks pretty good out there. Nice to see it’s beefed up and brushless.
Pretty sweet looking truck! Thanks 4 the review 👍
this is actually a really good move for traxxas considering most brushed motors go out more often
ive replaced mine three times in the span of a 15 months before going brushless
These cars with the lower speed compared to the vxl + the extra top durability features from the vxl are going to turn into completely unbreakable rcs. The slash even gets the xrt and raptor R body mounting system omg!
Dude your editing is on point great vid
Change out the '' powdered compressed metal " Spur & Pinion and Plastic Servo as soon as you get it and it's not bad. It's a dirt/mud/tarmac racer so don't expect it to survive full sends.
Great little racer canvas.
Loving the up grades and brushless out the box
Great review👍 This is promising. So many needed updates addressed. Loving the added HD parts. Totally agree with the driveshaft not being metal. Wished they at least put metal shock caps if they are going to put the same shocks on it. Looks like Traxxas is doing some overhauling with the ESC and motor. No more brushed🤔 Not bad if you are getting the same or better speeds.
No more brushed for the 4x4, the 2wd will stay available with brushed motors.
Excellent review GREG you ROCK
This is pretty neat I think I might get this for my Buggy to upgrade from brushed but I recognize the Field this is pretty cool to see just how small the world really is.
Some awesome improvements traxxas did here!
Great up close footage 👌
Picking up the Slash and Rustler Friday morning 😊
They did good with these trucks. The extreme duty kit is hiw they should have been built from the beginning. That being said, arrmas offerings still gove you much more power with 3S capabilities for similar pricing.
This new traxxas rig is Awesome what we have been waiting for
Can't wait to see someone make it 3S or 4S. 👍😎👍
Definitely picking this up for racing. Was looking for a 4x4 SCT and they are expensive. This gives you brushless and beefed up parts for a great price
I love and hate it! I have like 60 clear bodies to paint for the slash, better get them out and sold fast, before they all go that route of no pin clips! 🙄! Great video thanks for keeping us updated 😎👍🏻👍🏻
4x4,Brushless and Clipless all day baby🔥👌
I wish they would stray away from 2S systems. 3s is so much more efficient, It doesn't have to have more speed just a lower KV so that you get so much more run time. I'm guessing they do it to keep it lighter and for certain spec-class racing. Most people are going to bash them though and the slash is a super tough truck that can take a serious beating. I remember my 4s converted one at the skate park would not die. I wore out before the truck broke. Excellent platform. The best part is the thorough reviews you do so we know exactly what to expect.
Ready for the slayer VXL-4s I can't wait either lol
This track is epic.
Love the update! However I think Traxxas should update that transmitter soon lol
This is cool they finally updated the standard Slash 4x4 i wonder if Traxxas will come out with a VXL and an LCG Ultimate style model. I also wonder if the older Slash bodies and body mounts will fit older Slash 4x4 models. Still a cool truck and i hope Traxxas comes out with more updated models in the future.
Its a great product. Only thing that still sucks are the shocks. The plastic shock caps to fall off after some time and i would recommend the aluminum shock caps. Its like a 20$ tuning part.
Would be awesome to see a test putting the BL-2S Combo into a 4-Tec Corvette... and compare it to 12T Brushed XL5 Combo.
I predict in 2 years are less they will replace the vxl 3 with an updated version less prone to overheating. Its overdue for an update. Great video and great truck.
For this thing now being brushless it’s almost seems slower that the old brushed model
It probably is slower, but it will last a whole lot longer both in runtime and lifespan
I Agree I got the Rustler and I was disappointed in the speed. I think the brush is faster I'm just saying.
I hope a clip less system is coming for the stampede as well
Rustler BL-2s or Slash BL-2s, which one handles better overall? If I only bought one of the trucks which would you recommend for combination bash and non-competitive track use?
Not sure about the clip less body mounts. I have that on my K10 high trail and my sport high trail and the body’s rattle and make a lot of noise
Hope Traxxas offers a body mount kit to upgrade to the new clipless system.
They do offer that
Does it come with the heavy duty parts or after market ?
Awesome Video … Like always 👍. Where is that track ?
Greg, is this truck any faster than a brushed setup running a 2s lipo? Say xl5 system stock in the stampede? I wouldn't mind putting the bl-2s in my skully.
The center drive shaft is perfect its been in the rally forever I run them all on 3 s
Your servo arm hit the shaft at all with a regular tq remote?
So the big question, lol, will that clipless body mount kit retrofit to the older slash bodies with pre drilled mount holes. Like maybe use that hole to hold the locating pin on the kit?
Are these all-time 4WD or is there a setting to switch between 2 and 4wd?
What parts is needed to get the clipless body on vxl slash? Pretty plz
Do you know if the Traxxas slash lights with the bumpers fit this model?
Is that the LCG chassis too?
Looks like a sweet truck and definitely a good move for traxxas but that price point is just to high for $10 I can get a Arrma senton blx which can take 3s and is much faster and better in my opinion
Agreed.
agree.
Then go buy one? This is the entry level 4x4 system from Traxxas now instead of their titan brushed motors. This isn’t meant to be a 3s truck, it’s for beginners/others that don’t need 3s speed or power. Sometimes too much power puts people off. This 2s system looks have plenty of power and grunt to keep things exciting.
Hi, how to convert in a monster slash with this new system on the bl2s ???
Nothing earth shattering, but it seems like a solid "first truck" for someone getting into the hobby, or looking for a simple extra RC they won't spend too much time working on
Whats the parts number for the Aluminum center shaft??
Modern Tyco RC
Is it the LCG chassis?
What’s this mean for spec slash racing? Will spec slash racing switch over to this power plant to accept new racers or will people be forced to buy this then replace the brushless system with the older brush system?
Is this replacing the VXL-3s Slash’s??
Do you think I could put this motor on my vxl truck without changing the esc
Nice improvements on the Slash. The drive shafts sure look beefy.
Pretty generous to call that an all new look
Yeah that look is as new as about 2008.
Ya but you didn’t get a free truck did ya!
@@gregorholmes1837yeah the one that came with it!! Looks like a brushed motor, what's with the holes in the can? Those will fill up with dust and burn that motor out in no time, think that's there angle tho, keep you buying! I keep disliking newer Traxxas electronics more and more.
TRAXXAS The most recycled name in RC! Recycle reuse repaint charge a premium. No thanks TRAXXAS.
Ah come on guys. They damn good trucks at decent prices. The 30$ over a brushed is defin worth it. Although ford taught us to use all the same parts to keep price down. Can’t imagine this new system is more then 2$ more expensive to produce. But that’s the American dream
I checked the price, and I can tell it is value. Most of the time, Traxxas doesn't like to give more, but I think Traxxas wants to compete with others by giving a platform fully upgraded. The HD parts cost $60 from bid, but at full price is $100 - $120, depending on the seller. Is value the only word I can say
Traxxas needs to come out with a bl-s bandit now
How do you feel this 3300kv compares to the VXL 3500kv?
They are updated nearly all their budget models in this way, which is a good move from Traxxas
Does the servo arm rub the driveshaft like previous ?And they havent done anything to cover the driveshaft hole up in the front so more dirt and rocks get into the shaft tunnel and destroy everything 😂😂😂😂
As unfortunate as it is they didn't make the esc 3s capable for those who want an upgrade, at least traxxas didn't pull some stunt like make a 3S compatible esc, but restrict it to 2s until you buy some sort of upgrade card.
Shh, don't give them ideas! Video games industry loves their DLCs. We don't need that in RC!!
The bottom tier models are meant for beginners/others who aren’t looking for speed. You want the 3s system go buy the model equipped with the 3s system, or buy this model and put in the power modules of your choice 🤦🏻♂️🤔😂😂😂😂
If it’s Al 2s only why give a lower kv than the 3s?
Cool
why does the motor have a board in the end?
That 2s esc looks like it’s built better than the vxl.
Is Traxxas going to do this to the 2wd Rustler?
Drag racing this against a brushed, starts out close, but pulls away with more top end
Why does the servo stick out of the bottom of the chassis? Seems counterintuitive
what a wierd kit , but nice parts for my existing one, i would still recommand a 4x4VXL + extreme heavy duty kit over this , that looks slow, like the clips
I was curious, did you stop going to the BMX track or was it a busy season? Still love RC madness, just was wondering. As always, another great vid!
No more BMX track. They used to be ok with it. But apparently some people have been trashing the place. So I don’t blame the track. I always fixed any divots I made, cleaned up trash, took debris off the track when I was there to do my part. But I’m a different breed. Unfortunately it’s a case of a few ruining it for others.
@@rcdriver That's a shame, like you said, it only takes a few not so caring people to wreck the fun for everyone. RIP BMX track, you will be missed. Appreciate the reply.
I just want the clipless body
This is great! Would you be interested in reviewing the new Stampede?
I’m a big Stampede fan and would really like to get my hands on one.
So I'm confused. The new brushless are slower and can only do 2s but the old brushless is 3s and faster? Are they getting rid of the vxl? Or getting rid of the brushed versions all together?
No, this new BL-2s system is replacing the Titan 12T brushed motor and XL-5 brushed esc. It will be faster, have more torque, and last much longer on a charge. This is going to be Traxxas new entry level 4x4 system.
Why does that motor have a can fan 🤦♂️
Exactly, pointless...
This what I been waiting for🎉
So there are some things I like and some things that are just okay. I like the more competitive price. It's now in range with the Arrma Senton & Associated Pro4. I still think both the Senton & Pro4 are better given you can run 3s on those (I don't know much about this ESC yet) but I do like the reduced price & upgraded parts. That's nice. If you run at a track you have to run 2s so the non 3s thing isn't that big of a deal for me. While I'm generally anti body clips on scalers, bashers I don't really care so that doesn't do much for me here. If anything it just means if you upgrade to another body say something with air cutouts, now you have to replace your posts too. :/ This clip system kinda pigeon holes you into their bodies only which stinks. Still at least this offering puts the Slash more in line with other trucks out there and Traxxas's parts availability is 2nd to none so there is that.
Looks like a lcg chassis
Brushed almost as fast as this brushless?
hell yeaah! so excited for the full release of these things. little disappointed theres no 3s anymore tho
ADD TSM it's A. blast
I am waiting for the review from the new Traxxas bl-2s stampede see nothing about it Greg,do you now more??
Sorry, I only know what was teased. Hoping to get my hands on one.
But is it as strong as the losi/pro sc10 4x4?
My kids have been racing/bashing the Losi's 4 plus years now. Have only changed bearings & replaced a spur. They are also double the price for just a chassis, have to add everything else.
@scottmerryman1862 what losi? The race kit or the 22s rtr? If it's the kit then ofcourse but it's premium. All tje upgrades are there. Rtr is a stripped down version so they can add the electronics in and make money. The pro4 sc10 amd is 3s capable but the 2s only slash is the exact same price. 339.00 no way would I buy chinsy slash over a tlr or associated rtr
How fast is it, shop owner question as that's what's always asked 🤦😂?
This truck in 3s blue motor is fast and fun. 399$
Can i run it on 3s (i am new to the hobby )
The stock speed control in this truck can only handle 2S. For 3S you’ll want to look at the VXL model.
@@rcdriver Im a beginner can i buy this and then change the motor and esc to 3s compatible?
Last traxxas slash I think.
Good bye legendary Titan 12t!
Its good to see Companies making improvement butki da sad to see Brushed going into the shadow. #Brushedlifematters
This or rhe nitro slash?
Nitro is a headache. A lot of noise for absolutely no advantage over a 100c Lipo pack whatsoever.
What , Traxxas 550 Titan motor warehouses burned down ? About time when the selling point nowadays is brushless on just about everything . A better, still affordable Slash with better parts. LIKE
He'll yes we'll done traxxas it's out time
Traxxas is working on an all plastic motor .
Come hither, m'lady!
They need to loose the vents in the motor. There's no reason to invite debris into the motor.
Not a fan of clipless. Limits aftermarket body’s
Idk about $550 for this especially since its only 2s capable 😂
