J in Portuguese doesn't sound like Spanish. It sounds like French.

2:05 Actually our pronunciation is pretty close to the way words are spelled. You only need to learn and get used to our pronunciation rules, which are obviously different from Spanish or English. The example you raised though (6 = "seish") is specific accent from certain regions of the country. If you say SEIS (say+s) it will be totally fine.

Thank for the clarification! We also noticed alot of the Spanish words are similar to Portuguese but have different pronunciation? Would you say you can live in Brazil if you only know Spanish?

@@aeyandmel Well, both languages are really similar (vocabulary, grammar, sentence construction), but Brazilians in general don't speak Spanish, so that you'll gotta learn how the Portuguese pronunciation works in order to take advantage of this similarity. Portuguese has a bunch of sounds that don't exist in Spanish, so that sometimes it is hard for a Spanish speaker to catch Portuguese words.
Once living here, Spanish speakers naturally improve their Portuguese speaking skills pretty fast, comparing to an English speaker, for example.

I'm curious, do you know how to say giulia/júlia?
If you're trying to say Jurerê, It's kinda like that.
Sounds like "Giurerê". J's don't have the sound or r's or h's in portuguese.
The last e has a "hat", ê. It means that the pronounciation is more intense.
