I'm really enjoying this series. I'm trying to convince myself I don't need another game when I already have a big backlog, but you're not making it easy.
About abandoned boat at 35:22. I think the dev team is from Serbia (hence in game vehicles - cars, tractors... modeled by 1980-90 Yugoslavia era). Anyway, not familiar with Serbia, but I'd guess similar to Croatia where it's quite common to see these kind of old fishing boats rotting away abandoned in places near the sea. Sometimes even kilometers away from the actual shore. Most likely generations change, people stop using them, can't sell and don't want to pay harbor fees so they take them to some land they own. Nothing to do with this excellent series, but thought to chime in since you were wondering 😅
11:06 it’s also worth remembering licenses when taking jobs. Yes, 11k for 76 tons is good, but the oil well only spawns oil jobs which require a hazmat license. You’re going to have to run out of there empty
@@olirc I usually run a custom loco set. I've always got a DE2 on my train. For the steam loco, it let's me do remote braking, and for the DE6 it cuts down my running costs between jobs and while shunting
36:21 My favorite way to deal with these jobs is cutting the train between the 2 wagons, then slowing down the train a bit, riding the first consist until it is fully inside the sliding, brake it using the brake pipe vent and in time switch the switch for the second consist, hump yard style
My experience with concurrent jops and logistic haul is, that I always put the heavier part too the front and always the part with empty flat cars to the end of the train, since these empty flat cars extremly tent to derail.
Yeah this! having the empties in the middle or the front is a nogo, a bit too much braking or pulling from the loco and these will derail if you have heavy stuff trailing near the end... but... i put some empty flat cars infront of my loco and that kinda worked better?
Hey Squirrel, I get the logic behind putting the "easier" job at the back of the train, but one could argue that it's far safer to put the heavier cars (so the densest consist) closer to the locomotive, both for acceleration and deceleration. Not sure if the game would implement this at any level, but imagine having to stop quickly and have the heavier cars at the back press against the lighter ones at the front, in turn pressing against the heavy locomotive(s). The lighter cars could be forced off the track to make way for the heavier ones. Especially in a corner.
35:16 Another Theory : The boat got there on a very high tide is my guess. The higher of high tides "spring tides" themselves vary during the year and also tides vary year to year , so these statistics combine to make a very high tide occasionally especially if the wind helps blows one in. Have a gander at a tide table local to see. I'm in Maldon - we know this sort of thing ! LOL...every now and then the tide comes over the prom almost up to the road near the Queen's head Pub.
That turnaround at the farm was my first derail in this game. It was my first haul in VR. I was so entranced by how the game looked in VR that I forgot to monitor my speed. LMAO
Nice video! I've been expirimenting with letting the wagons brake into the sidings themselves. With the remote, i have around 10 kph going when i enter the siding, then i trainbrake a bit, release the wagons just before they pass the marker, then put the train into forwards gear and independant brake a bit, before throtting the other way. Because of trainbraking, and releasing the brakepipe, no air will come back, so the wagons will keep braking. (just make sure the siding is empty though..) It takes some getting used to, but i pulled it off three times today... saves more time ;) Have a great recording! Keep up the good series!
Yea that’s an advanced move which I may show at some point later in the series. It helps with multi dropping against the clock, particularly at stations like the steel mill where you can drop a load and keep the train moving to the destination station
@@squirrel There was a guy that mentioned he lets the air out of the wagon... i tried that and found out, you cannot run fast enough after a boxcar to touch the valve :) :) (yeah, might have overcooked the speed a bit, hahaha)...

I bought the game yesterday. I wanted to get familiar with the destinations so after i dropped Cargo at harbor I did all shunting the same in city sw. Two things I noticed and didnt know this before. You cant buy logistic haul without buying concurrent jobs 1 first. So the game forces you to have concurrent jobs although you want logistics haul licence only. And after I did all the shunting jobs in specific location I basically blocked other jobs or made them more difficult because rails were full of cars and some other jobs (cars) were behind my earlier job cars I dropped. So I would have to put lot of work just to be able get to that spefific car (clear away all the cars I dropped earlier) and haul it.

I dont understand the bit with the copay. You are saying that as the increased copay is bad. But isnt it good? You have more out of the copay to use, as long it doesnt go over the tolerance of the fees. Like you have 6 locos at different maintaince level of payment.
