They need to go to a real dirt track; Tony Stewart would love to have them at his place. This is just a dirty Bristol track and not dirt as you will find at your local track. Summer's coming so I get to see some Mountain motor cars this year.
I was telling a buddy back in 2001 when I lived in North Carolina, " I think a dirt race would be awesome!!" Then we spent the next couple hours drinking and getting stupid excited about the idea. Twenty years later I get to see it happen. THANK YOU NASCAR!! You made this old man feel like a kid watching his uncle race at the local tracks again. I have never been so excited to watch a NASCAR cup race. P.S. Can I get $20 to refill my blood pressure meds before the next dirt race?

And in return, loose true fans. Their killing themselves, and loosing true fans, trying to cater to an audience that will never care about nascar. About like this new car with the single lug nut and has features similar to f1. I guess they think their gonna have F1 fans watching, and that isn't gonna happen

@@JeffLMB exactly it’s would be a great way to keep the drivers on their toes and would be a good change of pace from the traditional asphalt tracks and would force the teams to get creative on prepping the car for such harsh track conditions
This racing is awesome, I think they’ve got a potential gold mine here if they work this properly moving forward. Reminds me of old school short track racing.

Loving the dirt track racing. Back to the roots of the sport, and where drivers get to flex their skills. The raw connection between a driver & his car is what has been missing for years. Absolutely the best thing NASCAR has done in a long time.
This is the most fun I've had watching a race in years. It is bringing me back into Nascar.. definitely will watch some upcoming races now, although I will miss the dirt. Glad they are going for it again next year.
That's the dirt track life for ya. Its all about traction and counter steer. Working that wheel and throttle. All the small technical advances that have been made over the last 20 years is almost useless here. Its all driver and car (& team who built car)
Always watched the races with my dad. He told me Nascar had a dirt track early this year and I was all in. Lucky to have a sport like this that reminds us of our loved ones

They need to race at DuQuoin, Illinois at the fairgrounds. There’s a mile dirt track and arca races there once a year in September. It’s known as the magic mile and is always a good race. COME ON NASCAR, ONE OF YOUR OTHER SERIES RACES THERE SO LETS BRING THE BIG BOYS.
I used to be into nascar back in the 90's if I watch a race at all its usually bristol or road races but the dirt is really cool.first race I have watched in a long time.very cool.

Best idea NASCAR ever had in a long while. You can't get more old school than this. If only they return back to North Wilkesboro Speedway where I live. Where it all started!!! Then, I'll pretty obsessed with NASCAR for life no matter what they do.
It’s great nascar is doing new things and drawing fans in. This race was 100% sold out even tho it wasn’t very full. That tells me next year they can stuff a ton of people in when the restrictions arnt in place. I heard from people who deal with tickets that the requests were crazy
@NASCAR Thank you for uploading this race many people I know were not able to watch this because it wasn't broadcast on the normal FOX station. Luckily, I have an antenna and was able to record the digital subchannel with my VCR. Great race, can't wait for next year on the dirt again!!!

This was a lot of fun. I haven't watched NASCAR in years but this really got my attention. Now if they get rid of the stages and playoffs and all the other hooey, i can be a real fan again.

The largest track would be no larger than 5/8 mile to keep it racey, fun to watch and less hard hitting wrecks. If they keep these crappy Goodyears on I would suggest no larger than 1/2 mile if they take windshields out. If they are able to add more water to the track and build more of a dirt car for these races we'll actually see much faster lap times. The 4 cylinder front wheel drive cars were putting down faster laps than these Cup cars. That's actually quite embarrassing. The experienced dirt guys were probably their own worst enemies because it's extremely hard to go from a 140mph car to a 90mph car and not try and drive it in the same manner.
Yes it would have and it wouldn't have dried off/dusted up so quickly. They would have had a lot more watching it live on TV also because people would be off work.

Don't be giving nascar anymore bad ideas there is no stage racing at eldora or any type of real racing. Team that best prepared and strategized usually capitolized on their efforts and you had to earn yourr way into programs

Had a little bit of everything last year. Loved all the different course they raced last year. Gave all the drivers a challenge. Especially those who don't have a history racing on dirt tracks and road courses.
Nascar Fan here in the UK. I've enjoyed the dirt race plus I'm glad they ran the race on Monday rather than Sunday because of the weather. If this race ran on Sunday then I would predict a complete disaster as they would be mud on the cars windshield (or windscreen we call it here in the UK) every lap. To those who criticised this race I wonder what does NASCAR need to do keep you guys happy.
@@FloridaManRacer I agree it's a shame. If you don't like to watch NASCAR then don't watch it. I heard that they would test rain tyres on short tracks like Martinsville speedway if the race becomes damp not full wet. I think it would be interesting however even if the tests were successful, I doubt that it might be implemented this year.
@@FloridaManRacer I don't think it makes sense to have a oval race in the rain or damp race track. The one thing that I get sick to death of is people who keep saying 'why can't NASCAR race in the rain using wet tyres in the oval?'. The easy answer is that it's too dangerous and it's not a pleasant experience for everyone including the fans. Just imagine driving at 80 to 100 MPH in the rain on the motorway (or freeway in the USA) the visibility is terrible. I do hope NASCAR would implement new ideas like racing on a street course and more short track racing.

I find this year to be perfect for a new guy like me who is vaguely familiar with NASCAR's history. More disciplines in the cup series brings a lot of good variety and excitement for me!
I like NASCAR since the early 2000's because I was a big fan of Hot Wheels and Kyle Petty's 44 car. It hurts when other motorsports fans makes fun of NASCAR saying they just turn left. Now with more road courses, rain tires, dirt tracks, the critics will shut their mouth and might even start following NASCAR. I do feel NASCAR should add more road and dirt races like these rather than just ovals.

we always sprayed a coat of nonstick lube on the front finer mesh screen than small gap with a set of small chains followed by small gap and finish with about quarter inch screen in front of cooling ducts , but hey im sure that wouldnt fit some template they have
It's a pretty expansive project, can't find any numbers on it yet, but I'm sure they will come out later, but one thing is for sure, the expanses are definitely worth it for Nascar as they are planning to do it again next year.
I'm Brazilian and would love to see a Nascar race happening in Rio de Janeiro where we have the Jacarepaguá Autodrome where the Formula Indy races took place a few years ago.

This race was sold out. They sold as many as they were aloud to. That tells me next year they can get at least double the number of people there.

@@N45C4R24 They decreased the banking substantially with several feet of dirt on the bottom of the banks and only about a foot at the top.
That would end very lame, just dega but slow with a bunch of space to separate out and only really a dominant line on the bottom.
I think the biggest you could do would be New Hampshire. Martinsville and Richmond would be ideal tho.

we always sprayed a coat of nonstick lube on the front finer mesh screen than small gap with a set of small chains followed by small gap and finish with about quarter inch screen in front of cooling ducts , but hey im sure that wouldnt fit some template they have

Any one knows what the cost is to move this dirt to and off the track?
It's a pretty expansive project, can't find any numbers on it yet, but I'm sure they will come out later, but one thing is for sure, the expanses are definitely worth it for Nascar as they are planning to do it again next year.
@@tomatoisnotafruit5670 this years race was a sell out. When they can sell more tickets it will be worth their time trust me
I'm Brazilian and would love to see a Nascar race happening in Rio de Janeiro where we have the Jacarepaguá Autodrome where the Formula Indy races took place a few years ago.

This is a stupid question.. but the track turning black, is that the dirt hardening? or the tires?
Im pretty sure it's tires due the speed of cars because rubber leaves skid marks.

at lap 153 was the big one on the dirt track at bristol but we never actually seen it going green before the wreck which was bull

I love how it's easier to race on dirt in real life than in a game
